French Restaurants near Kirkland, WA

“Excellent food. Great service. A bit on the expensive side but great for a girls night out!“

“We took two friends who'd were from out of state. They loved our favorite Kirkland restaurant!! The service is good and the food terrific. Not to mention a great cocktail list. The beautiful wooden bar adds a lovely atmosphere. Five star for sure!“

“I got a 12 oz latte and a salmon crepe.

I was somewhat disappointed with the latte. It was rather bitter and while the mug might have been a 12 oz one, it was rather far from being filled. I think more milk would have helped on both fronts.

The crepe itself was pretty good. There was a decent amount of salmon in it. However, the tomato chunks were so big and numerous, that they overwhelmed the taste, made the crepe a bit soggy, and also rapidly cooled it down. The plate could have also been bigger - the food barely fit on it, so eating was a bit annoying.

Service was very friendly and quick with the orders. Great job!

The café itself was spacious and pretty quiet with no TVs, which is great. There's also plenty of space between the tables, so it should be easy to navigate with a wheelchair. It could use a bit of renovation, though. The wide open space where you can see and hear everything happening in the kitchen makes it uncozy. The vibe is closer to a student cafeteria, than a quiet café.

Considering the above, the price/quality ratio could be better in my opinion.

Parking: There's plenty of free parking spaces in the library parking across the street.

Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance and the whole restaurant is flat with plenty of space between the tables.“

Fair warning you will have to pay for bread, but ask your server if any of your other items you order come with bread because one of ours did and we also ordered the bread so we had so much leftover.

The French onion soup was out of this world. They use a veal broth instead of a beef and it gave it such a deep umami taste and I would say it’s one of the best FOS I’ve ever had. I will also say we had a charred prawn dish in a compound butter sauce that was so to die for. It almost tasted like a tikka masala sauce and paired so well with the bread (this was the dish we ordered that came with its own bread).

The biggest disappointment for us had to be the steak frites. They charge pretty hefty price for a rather cheap cut of meat (flank steak) but I was willing to bite because I’m a sucker for a steak frites. While many things on the menu were not overpriced for me this one absolutely was. You get a rather tough and cheap cut of meat for damn near 50 dollars. This is the only nice French restaurant I’ve been to that uses a flank steak for their steak frites and it’s honestly jarring. Mind you their only other steak entree was a 3 lb T-Bone priced at 175 which is impossible to share if you’re there as a couple. Avoid this entree and look at others.

“Family run (I think) and feel restaurant with good food and did not leave hungry. Total casual and easy to feel welcome. Home made food and daily specials. I got the feeling you could ask for alterations to meals and they would accommodate. Chef came out to make sure all was good and definitely knew the regulars. He treated everyone as a regular. “Bummer, been going for years to all of her restaurants. Food is excellent, ambiance is five stars. However, for the first time I felt very unwelcome here. My server couldn’t get me outta there faster. I had two kids with me, but they didn’t act up or anything and we had a 5.15 seating. Our server asked me for my whole order with drinks, and when dinner was over asked me if I wanted my check before she asked about dessert. I literally started thinking “do I know her from somewhere else? And does she not like me for some reason?” I had to ask for my dessert to go, as it felt like she didn’t want me to eat it there. Restaurant wasn’t even full when we left. Will put some space between me and whale wins for a while 😥“

“Although finding parking is a bit of a challenge, this place did not disappoint. I chose a variety of items to try, the regular croissant, the chocolate hazelnut croissant, the pan au chocolat, and the Kouign amann. Each and everyone of them was amazing.
