I had a wonderful evening this week with a friend at Le Caviste. The last time I visited this wine bar was several years ago. I don't know why it fell off my radar, but it is back on it. The glasses of wine (5 ounce pours) are reasonably priced, and they offer a great variety. I selected a full bodied Gigondas and was not disappointed. The bites offered are also tasty. We loved this place for a romantic dinner. There were excellent wine selections, from whites, reds, desserts, and simple, yet complimentary dishes and very rich cheeses to pair with.The atmosphere felt cozy, and nicely lit for a subtle candlelit environment.The service was average. This is a charming and unexpected little place in the middle of Amazonia. I liked the food, the wine, and the atmosphere, though my dinner date was a dud. I particularly enjoyed the plate of smoked fish. I'll be back (maybe with some girlfriends rather than a date!)
