It seems like a tall order. But it isn't. You just have to ask. And the answer is Mekenie's! Opened in 2018 by Monna Lisa Perez, the restaurant is run by her daughter Jonnarae greeting you in the front of the house and son, ChaRly in kitchen making up your tasty fair. Located in the Cascade neighborhood of Renton, Mekenie is housed in the Cascade Mall. Although unseemingly quiet, it quickly gets packed on a Saturday afternoon for lunch, and sometimes on Sunday. The restaurant is also available for private bookings. On a technical note, their food and hospitality has aspects from the Pampangan region of the Philippines, known for its rich culinary heritage. This tradition was on display in this homestyle decor with homestyle tastes that any diner will recognize, and where Filipino Americans will find comfort. All are tasty. As an appetizer, I had the fresh, hand rolled, deep-fried pork lumpia - which came out piping hot out the fryer (awesome). I also had a traditional pork Sinigan with just the right amounts of tamarind, lemon, and tomato - making a nice clear consume broth. And just a little bit of Philippine style fish-sauce for taste. One note, no Coke products here. It must be Pepsi - Definitely a Filipino thing.Philippine brand snacks and drinks are also available to round out the experience. Stop by. “As usual, great food. However, they forgot about one of three entrees, despite being reminded. It seemed like they were more excited about closing than serving. After reminding them again, they finally delivered the missing entree, with no apology or other consideration. Gratuity was included, which in this case was rather presumptuous.“

Would happily give 5 stars if we could, especially given they seem to treat their employees so well (e.g., extended time off after the new year) Almost half the options are vegan, which is much better than most places. They often have a new vegan option of the month as well! Make sure to check the hours before you come; I’ve been absolutely crushed realizing they were closed only once I tried the door 😩😩“

“Our family always gets lechon from here so we decided to get one for our son's 1st birthday party. They did not disappoint! Meat was so tender and tasted so good! We only had about 60 guests for an XL pig and it was almost finished! Will get it here again for sure when we need lechon“

“This is a great restaurant, the people and the food are great for the most part. A lot of people have an issue with the weird times this place is open and with the price of the food. I understand that the pandemic hit hard, and it's hard to run a restaurant. However, there are definitely things to critique. The food is good, but expensive for small portions. They are also having a menu change at the end of August (that's what I was told last time I came here). They changed the vegan lumpia to only have vegetables in it (tasted like a spring roll), and are getting rid of the adobo burger (no longer on menu) :(. The current menu does not have any lumpia besides the new vegetable one, no dessert, and no potatoes. I thought the lumpia was a favorite? I used to visit every now and then because we love the lumpia, but I don't know how often I'll visit after the change. Maybe it will be good though, I can update later. This place was great, sad to see a decline because of the pandemic or other issues :( If you have the money, it's a good place to support!“

“stopped by on a whim as I drove down west valley highway and I was very pleased with the service and food! ordered lumpia, crispy pork belly combo and a brown sugar boba and I was blown away! the crispy pork was beyond good! came with a Mac salad some diced veggies and a wonderfully flavored rice with green onion. the lumpia was freshly made and the boba complimented everything. 10/10 would recommend“

“I had the best experience coming here! From the host Dannon, to our server Anna, service was top notch. My party and I all had lots of questions and everyone was super helpful.
The food was as is described; comfort. The lumpia was a stand out as well as the veggie patties. Next time I will definitely be trying the Ube Bread Pudding.
As if the food isn’t enough - the drinks are very clearly thoughtfully crafted. I had the Pecadillo which had a mellow sweetness with a tart ending. Perfection, big thanks to my bar tender Daniel!
