She took time to talk with me with out an appointment.(I had been to 3 other bakeries and no one would even answer any questions I had with out a appointment) We like red velvet and Melissa made little trials of each red velet option for us to try. “Overall this place is pretty good. However lately I’ve had bad experiences. Cookies clearly missing toppings, hardly any filling in “sandwich” cookies, and over baked cookies that are hard and clearly should have never gone out. If I wanted a crunchy dry cookie I’d go to the gas station. 95% of my interactions here are good, but it’s the bad ones that stick out.“

“Been to Rochester Deli many times over the years, mostly for their fish fries. This visit was specifically for bakery items, and that is when I learned that I have apparently been enjoying Periwinkle desserts all along. Their production facility is next door, but the baked goods are sold through Rochester Deli. I also learned that the deli owner’s daughter runs the bakery.

I came in hoping to pick up a few cupcakes and possibly a small round cake. There was only one cupcake option available, a Boston Cream, which did look good. Unfortunately, there were no cakes available, so I struck out there. I did grab a couple of the peanut butter cookies half dipped in chocolate, which are always a hit at my house.

The staff member who helped me apologized for the limited selection, but there was not much they could do.

Overall, I really enjoy their cookies, bars, and cake slices, and I will definitely be back for some of their regular items.“

“I've been coming to Rochester Deli for many years. In the past, it was usually for their Friday Fish Fry. I especially enjoy the Baked Walleye. They also make excellent potato pancakes, and whenever I ask for them extra crispy, they're always happy to accommodate.

Lately, though, I've been stopping in just for the bakery items, which are made next door at Periwinkle Bakery.

This time, I was putting together a dessert tray for a dinner with friends, so I decided to pick up a variety of treats. They had so many tempting choices that day. We came in planning to buy four desserts and left with eight!

We especially love the cannolis. They regularly change the flavors, which keeps us coming back. They're so good!“

“My wife and I don't get here often but we do love the pies and other bakery that we purchase. Unfortunately we stopped Saturday march 8th 2025 and bought a lemon poppy seed muffin and when we opened it the next day for breakfast it was dried out. this is the first and only time we were disappointed with something we bought. We ate it with a cup of hot coffee and the flavor was great. We will be back again and I'm sure what we purchase will be awesome!“
