“My family came here for our first visit on Friday. We had been given plenty of recommendations from friends on what to order here. We tried the crab ragoon, gyoza, and pork buns for appetizers. We loved the pork so much. For meals we tried the sushi which was all super fresh, and tankatsu ramen. Delish but the pork pieces were very big and hard to cut with no knives. I recommend you serve them sliced more. Really liked the food. Service was a little slow but it was busy in there. No waiting area and no reservations detracts from atmosphere points. I would come again though based on fact the food was so good. Menu is huge. Come hungry.“
“We sat at the bar, and we had such a great experience. I wish I could remember the bartender’s name! She was knowledgeable, friendly, and made some great suggestions. She really cared that we liked and enjoyed our meal. I had the seafood ramen and my wife had garlic fried rice. We started with the cauliflower app and the pork dumplings. The food was fantastic. We will be back for sure. Great Job!“
“The food is absolutely wonderful. They have a very diverse selection and we enjoyed our selection so much, we came back the following day to try more. The staff is very nice and very attentive. We felt very well taken care of. From beginning to end.We will definitely be back.Thank you for a great experience.“
“Wife and I went for a long walk along the east side then decided to look for a sushi restaurant. Found this place close by. We ordered 5 different rolls and some veggie Stirfry w a side of rice. Everything was excellent! We had a great experience. Reasonable prices. We would go back.“
“We tried Spicy Tuna to treat a family member for their birthday. Wow! The staff were wonderful, sushi and ramen were delicious and the presentation was delightful. Try the iced tea drink, it was so good! Don't sleep on Spicy Tuna, well be back!“
“The ramen was delicious. I give that 5 stars. But the wings were disappointing. Tiniest things I've ever been served. Barely any meat. I won't order those again... But the ramen was so good, I'll go back again for that.Wish there was more parking. Had to walk quite a distance from my parking spot to get there.“
“What an intimate first impression! We were greeted by the entire staff upon arrival, such a warm regards for complete strangers. Our server was so helpful with her recommendations. As for the atmosphere - so clean! Very pleasant instrumental music played without drowning out our conversation - hate loud music. The sushi tasted so fresh, we'll be back“
“Friends in from out of state. Few options for Monday dinner. SO GLAD we found KAWA. Fantastic staff, very clean and comfortable inside dining room, and the food was TERRIFIC!! I really apreciated the portion size - perfect, not overloaded plates at very fair prices -- and the presentation was truly elegant. I'll definitely return -- what a terrific place. Thanks, KAWA!“
“Food was tasty and fresh. I loved it so much I ordered another bowl to go. I wouldn't bother with the drinks though. Just get the food.Parking: Parking is very limited and hard to get. I had to walk 3 blocks away. If you get luck there is like parking enough to fit like 5 to 6 cars by them.“
“We ordered delivery, and everything we got was incredible. My wife ordered the mashed potatoes (because they were on the menu so had to try) we will be trying to imitate those! All the sushi rolls we got were so good! Just an amazing place, can't wait to dine in next time we're in town“
“The Tonkotsu ramen is to die for! And it's so nice to visit the Crossroads location while the main shop is closed. My only complaint is that when you request something added to your ramen, they almost always forget it or confuse it with something else. But the food is so good that it really doesn't matter!“
“This place has one of the more interesting rolls that I have seen in my life. They call it the monkey roll and it has banana in it. I really recommend trying that roll as I enjoyed it the most out of everything I got there. Besides that this is a very average sushi place.“
“This is a gem of find. Food is delicious and service is impressive. It was the trifecta of Bao buns, dumplings, and sushi. The bbq Bao buns were delicious and moist. The steam and pan fried dumplings had a fresh and flavorful filling. The sushi was also on point. This is the 1st time I've experience such great quality in all those dishes in one place. I'm already planning my next visit.“
“So great I had to share! I went in after a long day at work and ordered a bowl to go. I walked outside and it slipped out of my hands and all over the street. I was so frustrated and upset, but I went back inside to buy another bowl. I explained my situation and NOT ONLY did they give me a new bowl for free, BUT GAVE ME A RICE CRISPY TREAT TO CHEER ME UP!❤️ I’m not sure what the lady’s name was that helped me, but that was the best customer service I have ever had. 100% recommend this place! Great customer service! Thank you so much FreshFin!“
“Our Ginza night: Sushi here is always fresh and delicious. We did carry out yesterday. Sashimi is so fresh and so good, plus Wauwatosa and Futo Maki rolls made our dinner beautiful and yummy as well. Of cause, Seaweed salad and house green salad with ginger dressing, you wouldn’t want to miss those in this Ginza. Ginza made our dinner heathy, full and beautiful.“
“I'm particular about sushi, and this place didn't disappoint. So tasty! I'd recommend over a lot of other sushi places. I'll definitely be going back.Parking: I had to park down the street and around the corner, but the food was worth it.“
“This was our first trip to this location (we usually go to the one in the 3rd Ward). We didn't know it was inside the Mequon Public Market but it turned out to be excellent. The service from Allie (sp?) was great and the food was, as always, delicious! I would highly recommend the Screaming Tuna specialty roll. ⭐️“
“This is the best Asian restaurant in Milwaukee! I have now ordered from here multiple times and each time the employees go above and beyond to ensure great service. I love that the restaurant has its own delivery service that is so speedy! The staff is so friendly and the food is always delicious!“
“5-star ratings should be by definition hard to obtain. We'll give Kanpai a 4+. The sushi varietals were outstanding, service was very good, enjoyable contemporary ambience, and noise level was moderate. Pricing was a bit high, as we've come to expect in the Third Ward. Kanpai is a little short on red wine selections. There's a perfect space on the menu for one or two red blends. We'll be back!“
“Very hip space and friendly staff. It was easy to get a spot here for a weekday lunch, though I could imagine it gets busy for dinner. The moo ping (pork skewers) came recommended and were delicious, perfect texture and very tender meat. The Bermuda Triangle roll was very good though had a bit too much sauce. They have a kids menu with meals for only $6 and daily specials, including half off select bottles of wine on Wednesdays. Overall highly recommend and look forward to coming back!“
“I honestly love their Fresh fruit smoothie with tapioca boba. They have the best Crab Rangoon I have had to date.Their menu and place does need some work. I really want this place to do well. I have come here occasionally for over 10 years. I would love them to get to their next level for dining and cuisine.I think they could do well if they made more things from scratch that were signature dishes. Stay Fresh, that’s what keeps me coming back. Homemade tapioca boba taste the best.“
“My favorite sushi in Milwaukee (Maybe even anywhere)! Who knew amazing sushi could come from a food truck? My husband & I absolutely love it here. The Brewers sushi burritos, Dragon rolls, Dumplings, Spicy Tuna & boba tea are my favs, but really everything on the menu is great.I'm also very picky with seaweed wraps, because some places have hard to chew & overly textured. I don't have that problem at Modern Maki! Their shrimp is always so tasty & crispy in the Dragon rolls, that it could be one of my favorite shrimps ever. But probably my absolute favorite thing about this place is the rice in the sushi! It's always made for perfection. So soft & magnificent.I highly recommend!“
“i love luckys!! the online ordering on their webpage is so easy, and they have a great menu selection. i don’t think i have tried something i didn’t like from this place, and i’ve been going for years! plus, the staff is so kind and friendly. highly recommend.“
“This was my first time here at Kawa. I wanted to try something different, and I have seafood allergies. Steven was very helpful with letting the people she works with know that. I never tasted Eel before, and Steven said it was delicious. So, I ordered the Eel (unagi), and it was delicious. I asked what other things she had tried and / or wanted to offer for suggestions, and she showed me different pictures of food so that I could see what it looked like. I then ordered an Unagi Don, which is grilled Eel, sesame, pickled reddish, and Eel sauce over rice. The seaweed salad was okay, and the Eel was delicious. Thank you, Steven, for helping my daughter and I with the menu, trying NEW FOODS, and being FABOULOUS ;) I will definitely come back and try something different“
“This place is a hidden gem. Today was my first time eating at Nana and it was AMAZING. The island delight roll sure was a delight. Everything about it was fresh and beautiful. It melted on my tongue like butter, which is something I always look for in sushi. I LOVE THIS PLACE & I WILL BE BACK. Great service as well & very kind staff #havanaooonana“
“They have the best ramen that I have ever had. I don't eat pork, so it can be hard to find pork-free ramen that's flavorful. This bowl is so tasty on its own that you do not need to add any meat (or tofu) to it. I've ordered other things, but usually wish I had just stuck with the ramen cuz it's that good. Unless you can stand a lot of heat, go with the mild which is still pretty spicy. And I grew up eating Indian food, so heat is something I'm used to. And: Help support small businesses like Maki Yaki during this difficult time! You can get the ramen as take out...“
“One of the best stops for lunch to go / pick up in the 3rd ward area downtown. The lunch specials are a good go-to. You can get one or two entrees. It’s been my go to, but today I did notice the price was $3 more than what was marketed on their chalkboard.Grab a meal to go, stay at their bar, or take it upstairs. You can park in the public market and get a free 1 hour voucher as long as you save your receipt.“
“I was meeting my hard of hearing mother and son for a lunch out. I did show up 10 minutes late so my family was already waiting on me. As soon as I sat down she was trying to collect menus before I could have even looked at the lunch options. She even took the drink menu before I could order some tea and wasn't even offered a water. When she was confirming orders she snapped at my son when he was trying to translate for my hard of hearing mother. I'm sure the other couple at the table was frustrated as well but they where very nice asking questions to distract my son from the awkwardness of basically being told zip it. I wish all the tip went to the hibachi chef, he deserved it. He was very nice even noticing my son struggling with his chopsticks (something he was so excited to teach himself) and offering him the kids chop sticks while he was cooking. It seems he took more initiative and she took more of the tip. We will definitely be back but I hope it will be with a different server.Kid-friendliness: Server was rude to my son. She was very short and snappy when he was trying to translate for my hard of hearing mother. The hibachi chef had to get him kids chopsticks. He was very nice and showed more initiative than she did and I'm sure she's the one that gets the tip. I wish he had gotten all of it.“
