House of Gerhard Reviews
We normally make it to house of Gerhard a few times a year, always enjoyed the food and the surrounding, this last trip was a bit of a surprise when we ordered the waitress gave us choice of soup or salad, one of them being the French onion soup being the other choices that's what we picked. She did say there was an up charge, but we were kind of figuring a couple dollars which was normal ended up being eight dollars each

This place is always a class act. I saw some reviews with complaints about the old world atmosphere, but that's the whole point! Food is amazing and the staff very accommodating.
Classy. Gemeutlich!

House of Gerhard is a welcoming restaurant that serves exceptional German cuisine. The charred prime rib is a highlight, described as "GINORMOUS" and "melting in your mouth." The cordon bleu schnitzel with spaetzel and gravy is also highly praised. The restaurant's cocktails, including the brandy old fashioned and stormy night martini, are crafted to perfection. Guests often enjoy the sausage sampler as an appetizer, and the German platter featuring beef roulade, smoked pork chop, and sausages is popular. The Saurbraten is a table favorite, with the beef stroganoff and roasted duck also receiving high praise. The food is delicious, with generous portions and a good portion-to-price ratio. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, fostering happy conversation and a leisurely dining experience. Service is typically prompt and attentive, making guests feel well cared for. Despite occasional noise and a longer meal duration, the overall experience is very positive. Many visitors appreciate the setting that brings Milwaukeeans and Chicagoans together, and they are eager to return. The restaurant could improve with better pronunciation of German dishes and a broader selection of German desserts, but it remains a favorite meeting place for those seeking authentic German food and a cozy atmosphere.
