I get to Mercer a few times a year, and when visiting this quaint little town a trip to Heart of the North is a must. The food is amazing! The Seafood Bake, Prime Rib and Lobster and Mac & Cheese are phenomenal. Our service has always been great, drinks are wonderful and we love the entertainment! Heart of the North is a real gem!
Food was very good. Prime rib was good. Potato soup was great. Fish was good as well. Salads were good and crisp. Drink prices were pretty high. Food prices were pretty favorable for what you get. Parking was ample. The place was clean. Service was very slow.
A look of a bar on the outside but the food was amazing. Certainly wasn't a wisconsin tavern on the inside- at least on a Saturday night. Prime rib was perfectly cooked. Great drinks. Tables off the bar are a unique setup but seem to work great.

The extensive menu includes Cajun shrimp appetizer, mussels, seafood stuffed portobello, veal parmigiana, filet Oscar, pasta carbonara, and loaded ny strip. The restaurant is known for its excellent service, friendly staff, fair prices, and a cozy, local atmosphere with live entertainment. Reservations are suggested, especially on weekends, as the restaurant can get quite busy, even turning away customers due to limited space. Overall, the Heart of the North is a great spot for a satisfying and memorable meal.
