“We had not been to this place in a very long time and we live near Monroe! We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. One of those rare places that still have an open flame grill. The food was very good and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back!“

“8/9/13 We rode into Monticello and came across the Boar's Nest. It's been in business for 50 years according to the stepson of the owner Gerri (deceased). The son's wife was bartending. His wonderful elderly mother and current owner were at the bar with good friends. They had free popcorn and a jukebox full of country and rock classics. Okay, it's not "fancy", but the hardwood floor and bar made the place cozy. They're only open Friday and Saturdays. Their can beers were Old Style, Bud, Bud Light and their bottle selection was Blatz, but when in Rome or Monticello just roll with it. For a $1 a Blatz why complain, right? On 9/14/13 (Saturday) they are going to celebrate their 50 year milestone with FREE beer, accordion music, yodeling, and a well known local musician later in the evening. We hope to be there!“

“My husband and I had our wedding at Fest Haus and it was amazing! Kennedy was incredible communicating with me, helping set up, making sure we had everything we needed, and helping clean up. The bartenders that weekend were incredible as well! We highly recommend Fest Haus for your wedding, or any gathering!“

“It's my local! We moved to Belleville August of 2021, and I adore this place. Was made welcome almost immediately. Great food, great people. I strongly suggest any of the burgers, the Reuben when it's 'in season' (starts at St Patrick's day, goes til they're tired of making it), Thursday night nachos, Wednesday s'ghetti. Biscuits and Gravy that can make a Southerner cry (happily)! They don't take cards, but there's an ATM in the corner. Lots of alcohol choices to boot.“

“Ok I have been her at least a couple times over 5 years so I'm going to leave a review this time. We stopped here while waiting for a table at the restaurant down the street. The place is filled with locals which seem very popular on a Saturday night. It has some taps as well as all the common bar beverages and I did really any any food signs but the bar was full and we were at the back of the bar in the pool room area. Prices were fair for two craft beers and a cocktail was $12 so not bad at all. The bar tender was doing a great job with how packed the place was with his chores and making drinks, no one had to wait very long.“

“Been patronizing this establishment for years. The owner PT is one of the greatest people I've ever known! He will always take care of you when you visit! There food is good and you get what you pay for. Don't forget to try the Fish Fry“

“The pizza and pulled pork nachos were delicious once we got everything. The bartender was not great. If I came back and saw her there they next time I would leave. She was rude and not friendly at all. She accidentally dropped our pizza, which took 45 minutes to get, and then she brought us another person's pizza the next time third time we got our pizza, and it was excellent.“

“Food was EXCELLENT! I had the chicken alfredo pizza (with toppings and cheese all the way to the edge!) So good. The husband had the ribeye sandwich and sweet potato fries. The sandwich was great and fries delicious! Crispy on the outside and tender and moist on the inside. They had a great honey mustard to dip in. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back!“

“Last minute decision to go find fish fry and that is never easy on a Friday much less a holiday Friday.Drove down to Belleville and was able to find seats at the bar. Friendly bartender Van took car of us with great service. He's a big St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan so we connected over our mutual Cardinals fandom. Van knew all the regulars by name, so my goal is to someday achieve that status. Fish was perfectly cooked as was my shrimp. Breading is a bit thick, not the panko and club soda light batter, but tasty. Plate came with fries, buttered bread and coleslaw. In fact the Friday menu only says the kind of fish or chicken you want. The sides are as described. All of that food for $9.50/ person was a great deal. Bottled beer, mixed drinks and cans of soda. All in all a good Sconnie bar on a Friday night.“

“Our family of 14 embarked on a mini spring break trip to Madison, WI and our first stop was at New Glarus, also known as Little Switzerland. This is a quaint and beautiful town with a population of just slightly overly 2,000. Some of the items that we ordered are the cheese curds, fried mushroom, fried cheese BLT, mini potato pancakes, Ott Haus burger, and currywurst. The latter three particularly stood out. The mini potato pancakes were well-fried and crispy. The Ott Haus burger was the 2023 Green County Burger Contest Winner and rightfully so! It was exceptional especially with the house-made bourbon bacon jam. The currywurst brought back fond memories of my business travels to Germany. We upgraded the burgers and sandwiches to come with fries and tater tots instead of house chips. Portions were generous and everyone was stuffed. The restaurant isn't very big but thankfully it was a Thursday afternoon so it was not overly busy and we were able to combine three tables to accommodate for our party size. Another thing to take note of is that they charge an additional fee for credit card users. I guess it's understandable since this is a small establishment in a small town. However, for our party size, the bill was easily +$200 and who would carry that much cash these days?“

“Low key tavern with basic but good food selection and nice beer list. Our group had a few sandwiches which were simple but really filling and tasty. We used our tokens from New Glarus to enjoy a beer. Service was fast and friendly.Vegetarian options: Pretty much just a tuna sandwich if you eat fish. It was tasty.“

“This restaurant has amazing food that you can tell is homemade with fresh ingredients. The food quality is amazing and the people who make and serve it are always very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend coming in, seating yourself, and enjoying a wonderful breakfast/lunch/dinner here anytime you can.“

“Great place that unfortunately is rarely open. When it is open it's the nicest place in town to grab a beer by far. They always have a great selection of different craft beers on tap and it rotates regularly. The bar seems to be run more as a hobby than as a business and is often closed during popular times. The limited food menu looks great but I haven't ordered any because the one person working seems pretty swamped every time I have stopped. Just ordering a beer can take quite a while but at least he is pleasant and friendly. If you can catch it when it's open it's worth a visit.“
