“Had the opportunty to stop in at the hidden Max-Boyd-s Hideout in Antioch recently, interesting place, decor and experience.

Located in Antioch, but off the beaten path, literally. a few blocks off of Grass Lake Road is the Hideout, not far away from any of the Chain of Lakes.

Weathered and worn, like a old leather jacket, if you are looking for an old school tavern style place, you should stop in.

Bring cash only, or use their ATM, indulge in their beer or drink selection while seated at the bar, table or play a Slot machine.

I enjoyed the grilled chicken sandwich-fries or chips, which was delicious and flavorful.
I see they have ribs, burgers, fish frys and prime rib selections as well available.

The prohibition, Al Capone theme is a nice touch as well. Test your sense of adventure and stop in.“

“We had a great meal at the Red Oak. Expansive wine list with many good choices, along with specialty cocktails. Excellent entrees, with many choices that would work for vegetarians, gluten-sensitive and those needing kosher food. Desserts will beautifully presented and clearly made in house. The breadsticks on the table were especially good! The restaurant has a homey atmosphere with high ceilings and a fireplace. Artwork from local artists decorates the walls and is available to purchase. There is a lengthy explanation on the menu about their tipping process (20% added automatically, with tips pooled and divided equally amongst servers). The menu also lists their farm partners, which was much appreciated. Our waitress was new and a bit challenged, but she did her best. Only major issue was an error on our bill (forgot to charge for both desserts) which sent her back to us after the bill had been paid to collect additional money. We had a nice chat with the general manager as we left. She was very personable and shared more about the restaurant and their philosophy. We will definitely return if we have the opportunity, since we do not live in the area.“

“Food is always good here- usually get the chicken tenders. Son loves the concrete mixer with heath and caramel. We were there the other day and ordered a root beer float- it tasted strange so I brought them back up, explained the taste, they checked and realized the syrup was empty- they apologized and remade the drinks for us.“

“Came here yesterday (Friday) around 8pm with my husband and 3 kids. Parking is on the side, there was stairs going up and stairs going to the balcony and stairs going to the patio, no signs where to go so we went through the patio and thought we should go inside so they can sit us down, we went up to the balcony and inside. It was pretty slow so we observed and thought its self order and sit anywhere. It was a young cashier, i asked her if the shrimp was boiled or fried and she said “you eat it raw” (looking at the pictures now they’re not raw) so i just bought an Italian beef, diablo burger (from its name i thought it was going to be spicy which is why we got it but it wasn’t at all ) chicken tenders and a plain cheese burger, all came with fries and spent $60 and $16 + tip for 3 drinks and beer at the bar. We took our food to the patio where there was a tent, First thing we saw was big spiders and no netting under the railing so I had to move the kids so they don’t accidentally fall off their chairs and into the water. It was dark, we didn’t see the ants on our table until we started eating.“

In addition to being 40 minutes away that night we live 5 hours away and this was a major inconvenience. The next morning on the way to the funeral home I made contact with the restaurant and asked that they check around for the wallet. After several IMMEDIATELY RETURNED messages, they found it! Of course this was a huge relief. In addition to being impressed with the quick response, concern and empathy for our situation…the dining experience was amazing. Great views. I showed up on Thursday to find out they’ve got an all you can eat taco special 👀 I gotta roll myself out to my car after this. Not too big, well lit and a friendly crowd. I was told that I had to try the food. Whenever I first try a new place, I usually try a burger of it's on their menu. Lots of smoked meats are available here as well! Brisket, ribs, wings etc. Quite the selection! I got the bacon cheeseburger and omg! It was BANGIN!! Come hungry too cause it's a half pound of mouth watering beefy deliciousness! The crinkle cut fries are an awesome addition to this monster burger as well. 😋 I ended up staying longer than expected as some people that I knew showed up and it was worth it! Great time here. I'll definitely be back (if they allow me) Did I mention the awesome bartender? 😎 Highly recommended.“

“I’ve worked here over 3 years. I love this bar, I love the customers, my bosses are great. We have live music or karaoke every single weekend. Our kitchen is open until 9 PM Sunday through Thursday and 10 PM Friday and Saturday. The fryers are on until 2 AM seven days a week. Friday and Saturday we offer giant slices of homemade pizza for $5 slice until they’re gone. We are fully handicap accessible, two ramps for indoor and back deck access. We have a large selection of canned and bottled beers, huge selection of hard liquor, seltzer, iced teas, etc.. We have RC products on the gun, but also offer Coke and Pepsi products in the can. We can pretty much customize any menu item within reason. Our kitchen staff is incredible. I tell people we are a bar with restaurant quality food. We do have a large dining room that is kid friendly. Definitely bring your appetite, our portions are large, but absolutely delicious.“

Their servers are helpful, their menu is diverse and their quality is consistent. Great choices include their melt-in-the mouth sweet potato fries; the baked french onion soup; their rich, hearty mashed potatoes... and then there are the crab cakes which are SUPERB. They are properly seasoned with the crabmeat imparting a wonderful texture. Don't miss their lemon dill sauce accompaniment.
