Sam’s Pizza is a fun, cozy pizzeria with old school vibes and friendly staff. The pizzas are made up front where customers can watch them assemble, bake, and cut. It is tavern style, meaning thin crust round cut into squares, and the pizzas have not changed in at least 60 years. The cracker thin crust is crispy perfection, with fresh toppings cut into bite sized cheesey goodness. Popular choices include a classic cheese pizza, a cauliflower crust topped with sausage and Canadian bacon, and a gluten free pizza. The Canadian bacon is especially good, and the cauliflower crust is surprisingly delicious with great flavor and texture. Caesar salads are very tasty and a perfect way to kick off the meal. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and enjoyable. The inside is cozy and quaint, with historic pictures of the area on the walls, a small TV for Packer games, and personal juke boxes in some booths. Tap beer with a local option or soda is available. Sam’s Pizza is perfect for a quick dinner, with timed orders so food is fresh when picked up. It is centrally located on the west side of Wausau and opens most days around 4:00 or 4:30.
