“We were heading home from vacation and looking for a non-highway route. We chose route 50 and then did a google satellite view of the towns we would be going through. I saw this place on google maps in Grafton WV. I thought this sounded like an interesting place to stop. We ended up stopping at another place not far from here that also had cheap hot dogs (Biggie’s). Hometown hot dogs is not very big but does have a few parking spots and it is located right off of route 50. You order at the counter and they prepare your food in front of you while you wait. They have a good amount of take-out business here but also have some tables inside. Really couldn’t believe the hot dogs here were cheaper ($1.49) than the one I got just a short time earlier. Hometown Hot dogs also gives you a choice of sauce in regular or hot. The hot dog was boiled or steamed in some way or at least tasted like they were. Again, I would prefer grilled. In fact, if they had a way to grill them even slightly this would be a five star eatery. The spicy sauce was very good. Actually, I was sharing with my wife and went back in for a second one. My wife also wanted to try a pepperoni roll ($2.69). I can’t really say anything good about it, I definitely wouldn’t get it again. Perhaps, my expectations were too high. I was expecting pepperoni slices and instead it has long slivers of pepperoni, topped with mozzarella cheese. I didn’t realize it didn’t have any pizza sauce on it, they did ask if I wanted to add chili sauce which would have made it better. It really should come with some sauce to begin with. They place the long slivers of pepperoni on a bun and add some mozzarella cheese and then microwave it for a few seconds. Just enough to warm and partially melt the cheese. Really wished the pepperoni had been flashed fried first. Pretty bland sandwich overall but adding hot chili would make it better. This place is definitely worth stopping by, limited menu but very cheap and good. Would I go again? Yes; How far would I go out of my way? 20 minutes or so.“
