“the BEST restaurant for Ethiopian food in all of LA County, no contest. my friend and I drive from Pasadena to Covina just for this spot! I'm Eritrean, grew up eating this food every day and eating here reminds me of home. The food is 100/10 from the perfect blend of spices, deep well-developed flavors, generous portions, delicious injera. Definitely get a combo platter, pretty much can't miss with anything on the menu. The tej (honey wine) is also so sweet and delicious, we always get a bottle to take home.Love the vibe of this spot, very much a family owned and operated business which makes me even happier to support them. The folks who work here are so friendly and kind, just a great dining experience overall”

Rose City Pizza 602 N Grand Ave, Covina Pizza • $$

“Pretty good pizza place with many different types of pizza. Not the usual pepperoni or different toppings, but special things like Al pastor or Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken Pizza. We called in to ask one of the workers to see if the pizza had certain allergens, and glad they were able to let us know that there wasn’t egg in the two pizzas we ordered, but didn’t know that the Al Pastor would be spicy. I think adding certain symbols on the menu, or asking the customer would definitely help, to make sure, not everyone has the same tolerance. We ordered the Taiwanese , Al Pastor Pizza, the elote tots and the BBQ Chicken Wings. The BBQ sauce was really tasty, but the chicken felt overcooked. It was quite nice to taste different types of specialty pizzas and overall we didn’t enjoy the food. The place is not that big, but it isn’t made for you to dine in. It is quite nice to have some arcade games as you wait, and we learned that this business does also have another location.”

“Uhm why did it take so long for me to try this place? The pizza is so good!!! Then crispy it doesn’t flop when you hold it up! Reminds me of a New York style pizza! They sell individual slices, but they didn’t have the flavor that we wanted! We tried the white gurll with a side of hot honey and ranch! WOW! It was really good ! It looks like they share seating with the brewery next-door so there’s a lot of space to sit with some arcade games!! Definitely definitely coming back! Great service too ?”

“It’s looks so good and tastes so good. To be honest I was a little overwhelmed by the many options on the menu couldn’t decide what to order. It was a weekend, the staff was very busy and I felt pressured to order quickly. But the staff stepped away to help make drinks and others’ orders. They are very fast paced. I ended up ordering Gavin’s sandwich, it was a nice breakfast option. I called and waited for someone to come back to the register to be able to take my order and it was just what I wanted. Glad I took my time to decide. I really appreciate the quality, very fresh and delicious. The latte was good as well! Although there was nice ambient music I couldn’t help but feel a little stressed out by the ordering system. That day they were really yelling out numbers loudly and repetitively for each customer to come pick up their orders from the front and not just once or twice but as many times as needed until the person went to go claim their order. This kind of killed the chill vibe for me. But overall nice food options and good quality like a gem at this town square I didn’t expect it. Even though I ordered something other than a crepe I wasn’t disappointed kuddos they are doing it right.”

“The taste is very good, the service too, but the preparers talk and talk over our food when preparing, in my opinion it would be very good for them to wear masks whenever they prepare food, I have seen in the light how just by talking we spit saliva at the talk, imagine preparing food and talking. I put this comment because the day before I bought it and when I got home and ate one of the burritos it had a big long hair embedded in the cheese. I didn't eat more. “We have been eating teriyaki at this spot since 2018. When we need a quick place to pick up some food this is the place to go. The food taste real. The chicken is nice clean white meat not with all that excess fat you get at most places. I love that they sell the sauce bottled for you to cook at home. It is no wonder that this place is called "the spot teriyaki "because this is literally the spot to go to if you want some good fresh hot and tasty teriyaki. Like any other teriyaki place your veggies will only be carrot and broccoli, but I like that the option for brown rice isn't overly expensive because that is always my selection. Yoxi teatime 225 N Citrus Ave, Covina Cafe • $

“Cute boba place in the heart of downtown Covina on Citrus. They have a spacious dining area and looked like it was a former frozen yogurt shop. Decor was very cute and they still had Christmas decorations up. In addition to drinks, they offer bubble waffles, avocado toasts, and a variety of fried snacks. Order at the counter or kiosk. I got the Tarolicious (available only on weekends), the super fruit tea, and the lychee green tea with lychee jelly. All the drinks came out really good. The Tarolicious was not the typical powdered taro that other places use, but rather a house made taro paste that's smeared in the cup. It was tasty and I really enjoyed it (once you mix up the taro with the rest of the drink). The super fruit tea was refreshing and at the perfect level of sweetness at 70% sweet. The lychee drink is not on the menu but rather a "custom drink". There was only one girl working when I was there and I saw a constant flow of people coming in to order, so naturally it took a while for my drink to come out. Not sure if that's their normal staffing l, but I would recommend that if you're in a rush, ask to see how long it will take to get your drink. They also have a private party space available in the back, contact them for pricing and availability. Check in on Yelp to get 15% off your order!”
