“I love koji Katsu! They recently opened this year and I love that they’re adding and improving their menu. I definitely recommend their assorted Katsu, it’s a huge portion of their three types of Katsu (tenderloin, shrimp, and cheese) with rice soup and salad. You can easily share this with two people! And I love their Katsu sando (sandwich). The bread is so tender and it tastes like the one in Japan. They have great service and are really open to feedback! A great local place in the city“

Food is decent. Gave 4 stars because of the mango on the sushi that I ordered. The mango should be sweet but the one on the sushi is more on the sour side. But it did not negatively impact our overall experience. Still a sushi place that we will go to when we visit Calgary.“

“We went for dinner and absolutely loved it here. The food was fresh and delicious. The service was excellent! We very much enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, and the decor was pretty. We will definitely be coming back. The prices were very reasonable. Dinner for 2 (including 1 beer!) was only $50+tip.“

“this is a small cute restaurant in the Kensington area., they have a very unique way to represent the sushi and it is inside the tofu skin , the sushi pockets are okay , nothing amazing or extraordinary , portions are okay too, big and filling

I ordered their pocket holic special, which comes with udon, pocket sushi and miso which is a good deal if you want to try few things in their menu

For the udon, i tried the Rose Tteokbokki Udon , its creamy with a hint of sweetness and the spiciness is just right., its like tteokbokki without the rice cake, they forgot my fish cake with it but when i told the server , they wanted to make me a new bowl but i told them , they just can give me the fish cake on the side which they did and its so good with it too

“We went to Kujira for a family meal today and everything was amazing! The salmon sashimis were fresh, generous portions, and tasted delicious. All of the sushi rolls were amazing as well and it was not too filling at all. Our favorite has to be the seafoods and their sauces are amazing! We would totally recommend everyone trying it out!“

“Really pretty Kaiseki offering with nice flavors and some really cool ingredient combinations. Would love to see how the set menu changes next time we visit. Awesome service and this felt like an intimate, and authentic Omikase joint. Pricing for kaiseki seems reasonable at $90 pp with 9 dishes and a very nice miso soup. The soy sauce in brewed in house and I'll need to come back to actually try it on something, as the set menu was seasoned, but the spoonful i had was delicious. Nice place!“

“first time eating here with a diverse group with limited Japanese food experience. mind blown!! beautiful atmosphere, staff were amazing made the 2 birthdays in our group very special. The food was beautifully prepared and tasted amazing! one in our group is a meat and potato's guy but is now a sushi lover! expecting a huge bill at the end of the night but was shocked at how very reasonable the price was for a total of 7 people. “We were blown away by the quality of this sushi! The tastiest sushi we have had in Calgary, hands down. The rolls are a good size, the vegetables are crisp, and the fish is actually fresh -- which is a feat, on the middle of the prairies. And they have gluten free soy sauce on hand, plus a selection of GF rolls which was good for the celiac in our group. The restaurant is small and busy so you may have to wait a little while, but trust me: it's worth it. We will be back!!!!“

“Food was decent. Best value was the beef tataki. Value isn’t the best here. Service was great and friendly. AThey were prompt but felt crowded cause there was so many staff. Too many staff considering the menu is all online and automated. Not a big fan of the online menu. Definitely better value at many other Japanese/Sushi restaurants. A hamachi kama was on the menu for $42. Every menu item felt 10-15% more than other places. Spent $95 for two people and definitely not full.“

“Chicke katsu was so juicy, cripsy, tangy. A lot of sauce but not too much. The bread was a bit dry but I guess it helps to absorb more sauce.

The curry pan was absolutely delicious! Not too greasy, hot, flavourful, cripsy. Definitely come here on a Fri or Saturday.“

The service was great friendly and very helpful in choosing the right dish for those who want recommendations. “One of our few regular go to sushi places. We typically order the agedashi tofu, mixed tempura, salmon sashimi and special rolls. All great. Very efficient service (kudos to the kitchen staff) and servers are excellent, headed by Mina who is both friendly and welcoming. Place is small so make reservations on Fridays and weekends in particular. Try it.“

“Onigiri Japan is one of those hidden gems that deserves way more attention. The rice is perfectly seasoned, the seaweed has that satisfying crunch, and each flavor was unique. We tried the bulgogi, tuna salad and the teriyaki. It’s simple food, but done with so much care that every bite feels fresh and balanced. Definitely an underrated spot and a hidden gem. It’s located on the 2nd floor of the complex.“

“The best culinary experience you could possibly get for the price. The food was prepared with the upmost attention to detail. We did the Yakitori Omakase (15 course meal with drink pairings). The specially reserved seats in front of the kitchen offer a show, not just the meal. Our server Adam provided an 11/10 service, explaining the intricacies of each dish and how the each drink was tied into the given course. They also offer you the option to purchase 3 ounces of the 45 day beeswax aged A5 Waygu (which we also purchased and highly recommend to take in the full experience). Also, after visiting NYC, San Fran, Seattle, Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal Takumi ranks in our top places. We order from skip the dishes monthly but prefer to come in for cold sake, great service and exquisitely prepared sushi/sashimi. “I have been coming to Globefish Marda Loop since I moved to Calgary 17 years ago. I lived in Japan for over three years and only eat authentic Japanese cuisine. “This is our go-to sushi spot in Calgary - mostly due to their excellent aburi rolls and sushi selections. The fish is always fresh and high quality, and we love the accompanying sauces that pair with each roll. Aside from aburi, hubby is a fan of the Omega roll because of the salmon roe.

This year, there was noticeable shrinkflation with substantially less pieces offered in each roll; however the quality and taste of ingredients make up for it. I once ordered the scallop hand cone, but I found it to be very overpriced for the size. Thus, I stick to their aburi and special rolls.

We usually get delivery from this location, and it’s great! I occasionally order take out from the store. Don’t expect to dine in at this location as it is designed for take out and delivery only.“
