“The food was the typical great keg experience but what made this visit particularly worth leaving a review was our server Luka. He had a great infectious energy and we enjoyed every interaction we had with him. This is now our go to location because of Luka.“

“For some time I have been enjoying the calamari and plum wine. Every so often, I will stay for a full meal. Last night we were hungry and had salmon and red snapper. The red snapper was good, but the salmon was exquisite - cooked to perfection with a crispy sear . The creamy spicy sause that went on both fish was so flavourful and delicious, I nearly licked my plate. Come for the calamari, stay for the salmon!“

“We went to Modern Ocean for my husband’s birthday yesterday. We have been waiting to try this restaurant for quite a while. To say this experience was amazing, would be an understatement. From the atmosphere, to the staff, to the food, it was all incredible. Madison was our server and she was inviting, warm, and knowledgeable about the menu. She was so great! We had an amazing night and we will absolutely be back. 110% across the board!“

“The restaurant's interior is very charming. I’m usually not a fan of oysters, but the small oysters (possibly raspberry?) were surprisingly delicious; they tasted almost like clams and didn’t have a fishy flavour. I would definitely order them again.

The pasta and gnocchi were excellent. If you enjoy shrimp and salmon, you will love the lunch pasta and gnocchi menus, which are also reasonably priced.

The waiter was very nice. Even though we were seated on the patio, he consistently kept my coffee and water glass filled.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience. I will definitely go back for dinner sometime!“

“Absolutely love it here. We came here on our vacation and brought our family. The staff are wonderful. They even offered to warm up my grandsons milk bottle. They answered our questions to make sure everyone knew how the menu works. The food is fabulous. And the variety is great. My kids asked if we can go again when we come back. Definitely returning“

“Went with my husband for our first anniversary, I cannot say enough good things about this place! We were given a hand signed card, complimentary bubbly upon arrival, incredible service by all the staff (shout out to our server Tess, you were awesome), delicious food (get the mashed potatoes) and a complimentary dessert. The DJ set the perfect mood too. Everything here was incredible!“

“Aug 21st. I had booked a small party of 5 on the lounge side to celebrate my friend upcoming wedding. One of the ladies had brought her baby. Totally not remembering the lounge is only for guest aging 18 and up. The receptionist informed us due to us having a baby we could not eat on the lounge side, but we could eat in the dining area. However the dining area was fully book!

She didn't want us to leave, and ran to get her manager! The manager flew in and saved the day for us! He made space for us and made sure we had a beautiful, and private dinner! The server we had was friendly and overall the best!

For something that I screwed up during booking, they swooped in and fixed the mess. Never pointing blame or giving up on us, and ensuring the bride had a lovely time! One of the BEST customer services I have ever encountered! The food was divine! I fully recommend this place!

“Boiled fish with pickled cabbage & chili came in a bowl as wide as an adult and serves 4 easily. Lobster Fried rice was totally worth the visit if nothing else. Diced Chicken in chilies were crispy and spicy!

“Went tonight for a casual date night and had Sarah as our server. She was amazing! Our drinks and food were perfect and the timing between appetizer, salad and main was perfect - not rushed like most places. We still ended up taking leftovers home and couldn't resist taking some cheesecake home too. Thank Keg and Sarah for a wonderful evening! Best keg location in the city.“

“What an amazing space. Feels so open. Good menu options with something for everyone. Had the NY steak and it was disappointing. Asked for medium rare and it arrived as medium. Also, there was hardly any sear on the meat. Disappointing as visually the restaurant comes across as very high end.

Everything else at our table was ok. No issues. Service was good and friendly.

“I come here for dim sum pretty regularly for the last 35 years or so, their quality has been very consistently excellent. Also comes here for dinners and a wedding. They do the typical Cantonese style food very well. Even my nephew coming in from Guangzhou thought the food was good.“

“hello, my name is caleb. i am not chinese. you do not need to be chinese to enjoy this food (even tho it says chinese on the sign.) i had the sweet and sour pork with the fried rice. the vegetables were awesome, and the rice was tasty with every bite. the pork wonderful as well. i can just tell that the food here was made with love. I don’t have any pictures of the food because i ate it all so quick“

“My husband and I used Charbar as our reception/dinner venue for our wedding in August 2022. Besides a few hiccups, which are to be expected, we had a great experience with them! The food was amazing and all of our guests had nothing but amazing things to say about it! The venue is a beautiful spot, and minimal decor was needed. The bar staff that we had the night of were great and made sure we were taken care of. We were able to have a tasting before hand and our coordinators worked with us to come up with a specialty cocktail that fit our budget. The only thing that might have been lacking was communication between ourselves, the coordinator, and the staff working our event. We struggled to get answers back right away through email, but our wedding was around Stampede time. There were a few mix-ups the night before and the day of our wedding. For example: We were dropping off our cake the night before to be refrigerated and was told that the manager on shift would know about it. When we got there, no one had any idea what we were talking about and our cake was almost given to the wedding that was happening that night. The day of we did not have a charged microphone, and there were some technical difficulties with the sound system during our dances. It was also not communicated on our end that non-alcoholic beverages were charged @$4/drink. Our wedding party also got their food served to them last, so we had to push back our schedule with speeches. There was also supposed to be a separate table set up for our photographer to eat at, and as we were being served dinner, it was then realized she had no where to sit. These hiccups are minor, but definitely made it so there were some added stresses to the day. Besides the difficulties with communication, we would recommend Charbar for your wedding if you are looking for something that is small and simple, but still modern! I would suggest hiring a coordinator if you do choose to use Charbar, only for the fact that as a young couple who did not know the ins and outs of wedding planning, there were things that were missed through communication that shouldn't have been and a wedding coordinator would be able to avoid this with their knowledge and expertise.“

“I've been going here since I was born, the staff know me so flicking well (since they saw me grow up) even though the food can't be the best but just the sheer nostalgia I get from eating here make me so god damn happy. Sometimes I just stop by especially when I'm in downtown for conventions. Overall I love this place so much and the staff there :]“

Also was disappointed coffee wasn’t included in buffet price. Desserts could have used an upgrade/more options. Not sure if I would go here again for a breakfast buffet.“
