“For some time I have been enjoying the calamari and plum wine. Every so often, I will stay for a full meal. Last night we were hungry and had salmon and red snapper. The red snapper was good, but the salmon was exquisite - cooked to perfection with a crispy sear . The creamy spicy sause that went on both fish was so flavourful and delicious, I nearly licked my plate. Come for the calamari, stay for the salmon!“

“We went to Modern Ocean for my husband’s birthday yesterday. We have been waiting to try this restaurant for quite a while. To say this experience was amazing, would be an understatement. From the atmosphere, to the staff, to the food, it was all incredible. Madison was our server and she was inviting, warm, and knowledgeable about the menu. She was so great! We had an amazing night and we will absolutely be back. 110% across the board!“

“We had educators get together at Elite Asian Cuisine, to be honest it was my first time dining here. I am so delighted with the customer service, the ambiance, the place was not so big but great enough to accommodate 30 guests or more. The owner is so friendly and the foods are exceptional. I had been tasting so many Filipino dishes but their foods are extremely delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant and take out orders too for your family gatherings and occasion. “Our service tonight from Amicko (sorry I probably spelt it wrong) was too notch. She made some great food and wine pairing suggestions. The food was delicious and the restaurant was in a quaint old house which was renovated into a 2 storey restaurant. We had one of the last seatings of the night, so by the time we left, we almost had the second floor dining room to ourselves. We will definitely come back the next time we are in Calgary.“

“Perfect, beautiful steak. Par excellence in service. More formal atmosphere, but we're welcome and fine as a family, informal gathering.

Vegetarian options: Not so good. None expected in a steakhouse

Parking: Had a lot of trouble finding parking and had to walk a bit after parking

“Absolutely love it here. We came here on our vacation and brought our family. The staff are wonderful. They even offered to warm up my grandsons milk bottle. They answered our questions to make sure everyone knew how the menu works. The food is fabulous. And the variety is great. My kids asked if we can go again when we come back. Definitely returning“

All of their dishes are the same as you would get in China.
We loved it, everything we got.
Soup was great and tasty, so was the smoked duck and the rice.
Service was great, they tried their best to accommodate us with the gluten free options.

“Overall, an enjoyable experience, though slightly overpriced for the quality. We tried a variety of sushi and yakitori, while both were good, they didn’t particularly stand out, and I’ve had comparable yakitori for a better price elsewhere. The ke bun was a nice highlight, with generous pieces of tender meat. A pleasant meal, but I’d hope for a bit more considering the cost.“

“Tasted awesome! We ordered Chinese sausages fried rice, lean ground pork with green beans in spicy sauce, and fish fillets and tofu hot pot. The English translation might not be the best way to describe how they taste. The fried rice is actually a Hong Kong style fried rice with a lot of crunchy mild dried spices sprinkled on top of the fried rice.

Overall they cooked the way we wanted. It also comes with free Chinese soup at the beginning and free dessert at the end! Love them! Glad that they open late as well, 10pm. Will be back for dinner again!

Parking: The free parking lot was full. The day we went at least 2 vehicles were not parked properly so it blocked off at least 2 to 3 available spots! That’s frustrating! We ended up have to park far away on a street.“

“I've been heading here for dim sum for years. The staff are friendly and fun. The traditional dim sum carts add to the atmosphere. The food is well prepared. My favourite dumplings are siu mai. They have three kinds of char siu bao (fluffy, bun, and pastry). Don't miss the chinese donuts that are wrapped in noodles and sprinkled with sauce, delicious! The dan tart are also really good!“

They were out of one of the white wines by the glass (apparently wine Wednesday depleted their stock). The atmosphere in the main dining area is lovely and has a European feel. Overall, a very nice dining experience. Murrietta's remains a fabulous option for group lunches or dinners.“

Had a birthday party asked them to split the bill between the guests, lied and said they would but rather put the entire bill on one with a 20% gratuity. The ravioli is disgusting and the manager, Brye needs better management skill. Better places to wine and dine.“

From the presentation, to the service, to the food itself, everything was exceptional! Highly highly recommend the Peking duck and the ginger beef!!“

“My husband and I used Charbar as our reception/dinner venue for our wedding in August 2022. Besides a few hiccups, which are to be expected, we had a great experience with them! The food was amazing and all of our guests had nothing but amazing things to say about it! The venue is a beautiful spot, and minimal decor was needed. The bar staff that we had the night of were great and made sure we were taken care of. We were able to have a tasting before hand and our coordinators worked with us to come up with a specialty cocktail that fit our budget. The only thing that might have been lacking was communication between ourselves, the coordinator, and the staff working our event. We struggled to get answers back right away through email, but our wedding was around Stampede time. There were a few mix-ups the night before and the day of our wedding. For example: We were dropping off our cake the night before to be refrigerated and was told that the manager on shift would know about it. When we got there, no one had any idea what we were talking about and our cake was almost given to the wedding that was happening that night. The day of we did not have a charged microphone, and there were some technical difficulties with the sound system during our dances. It was also not communicated on our end that non-alcoholic beverages were charged @$4/drink. Our wedding party also got their food served to them last, so we had to push back our schedule with speeches. There was also supposed to be a separate table set up for our photographer to eat at, and as we were being served dinner, it was then realized she had no where to sit. These hiccups are minor, but definitely made it so there were some added stresses to the day. Besides the difficulties with communication, we would recommend Charbar for your wedding if you are looking for something that is small and simple, but still modern! I would suggest hiring a coordinator if you do choose to use Charbar, only for the fact that as a young couple who did not know the ins and outs of wedding planning, there were things that were missed through communication that shouldn't have been and a wedding coordinator would be able to avoid this with their knowledge and expertise.“

“I can't believe I never been here in the 20 years Ive lived in Calgary, until recently and I must say it is probably the best Ive had. Dim sum is absolutely amazing and very nice portions. And the price is probably what surprised me most. They also have a great buffet. The family and I plan on going here every month from now on.“

“THE Chinese food hidden gem! ?✨ The egg roll was DELICIOUS. They had quite a few vegetarian options, which I was pleasantly surprised by. The dude working was polite and to the point, food came fast and was so good.

“We went for the Sunday brunch buffet. Excellent selection, great food, attentive service. We went early to avoid crowds and excessive noise. We were seated in a quiet area, no one else around, it was perfect. 1/2 way through our meal a large group were seated right next to us as well as another small group with very loud talkers. The remainder of the restaurant was still pretty much empty. The noise level was through the roof. I couldn't even hear my husband across the table from me. We finished our meal quickly and left.“
