“I really like Arigato Japanese restaurant. My mother and I go almost once a week for lunch. She loves their sashimi lunch which is nicely presented and really good value. I've tried most of their menu and all of it is enjoyable. The restaurant is family run, and I like that it feels like you are having a meal that would be served at a Japanese home.

It's five star value, with a 4 star experience. It's not the best sushi you'll ever eat, but for Anchorage I haven't found another sushi place that I can spend under $20 before tipping and leave actually full.

“It’s good. Brought my taste buds joy after a very stinky Monday. I got a roll & appetizer delivered through their app, but it appears to kind of be an extension of DoorDash. It took about an hour (I did order during dinner rush on a Monday night) I got a the mushroom app and it’s really good. Everything is well cooked & the sushi (American roll) is well cut. Very happy and look forward to visiting the actual restaurant. 🫶🏻“

“Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Atmosphere: 10/10 The sushi rolls were huge, raw fish wasn’t smelly, entrees were big including the kids plate (bento style). I found the prices very fair especially comparing them to Basil Ginger in the valley. We didn’t order a single roll over $20 and our favorite cooked one (spider) was only $15. The restaurant was pretty packed yet our food came out surprisingly fast for how many people were dining in. The waitress was on FIRE. Running around making sure everyone was good. She also gave us dessert at the end for free. Maybe it’s a thing but we were highly flattered and appreciative! It was great to eat at a clean establishment that also checked allll the other boxes too. My kids and I got up to leave and both noted “this place deserves a shining review!”. Highly recommend 🙂“

“Best sushi in downtown anchorage and my favorite sushi restaurant in town hands down! The service is super warm and welcoming. We did not wait long for our food to come out and the owner checks in on how we are enjoying the food. The fish and uni seems to always be fresh and delicious. My favorite is the hamachi roll. The owner said they tweaked their ramen recipe and now it is my favorite ramen in town and you can get it late at night on the weekends, which I love. 10/10 experience!!!“

“Very very special place. Run and solely operated by veteran chef-San who makes a delicious miso soup and some of the best rice I’ve had outside of Japan. The chirashi bowl was delicious!! Also, as others say it’s a very friendly atmosphere and found myself briefly sitting at the table of nearby diners just chatting before returning to the sushi bar for my meal.“

“The rolls were very well made and the fish was fresh. I had the dragon eel roll and it was cooked well. I had to wait for my drinks for awhile, but it made sense because they were quite busy. Overall experience was good, I'd recommend it for a nice date.“

“Wowww. We are here from Colorado and wondered if this place would give us a fresh salmon experience. OMG, we had never seen such a rich color in salmon before. It melted in our mouths like butter. Our sushi rolls were beautiful. I also tried the dumpling soup and it was delightfully fresh and tasty! Is the atmosphere perfect? No, but it’s cozy and we loved all the wood. It’s two thumbs up for stellar sushi and that’s all that matters. Yum yum!“
