“I really like Arigato Japanese restaurant. My mother and I go almost once a week for lunch. She loves their sashimi lunch which is nicely presented and really good value. I've tried most of their menu and all of it is enjoyable. The restaurant is family run, and I like that it feels like you are having a meal that would be served at a Japanese home.

It's five star value, with a 4 star experience. It's not the best sushi you'll ever eat, but for Anchorage I haven't found another sushi place that I can spend under $20 before tipping and leave actually full.

“It’s good. Brought my taste buds joy after a very stinky Monday. I got a roll & appetizer delivered through their app, but it appears to kind of be an extension of DoorDash. It took about an hour (I did order during dinner rush on a Monday night) I got a the mushroom app and it’s really good. Everything is well cooked & the sushi (American roll) is well cut. Very happy and look forward to visiting the actual restaurant. 🫶🏻“

“Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Atmosphere: 10/10 The sushi rolls were huge, raw fish wasn’t smelly, entrees were big including the kids plate (bento style). I found the prices very fair especially comparing them to Basil Ginger in the valley. We didn’t order a single roll over $20 and our favorite cooked one (spider) was only $15. The restaurant was pretty packed yet our food came out surprisingly fast for how many people were dining in. The waitress was on FIRE. Running around making sure everyone was good. She also gave us dessert at the end for free. Maybe it’s a thing but we were highly flattered and appreciative! It was great to eat at a clean establishment that also checked allll the other boxes too. My kids and I got up to leave and both noted “this place deserves a shining review!”. Highly recommend 🙂“

“Best sushi in downtown anchorage and my favorite sushi restaurant in town hands down! The service is super warm and welcoming. We did not wait long for our food to come out and the owner checks in on how we are enjoying the food. The fish and uni seems to always be fresh and delicious. My favorite is the hamachi roll. The owner said they tweaked their ramen recipe and now it is my favorite ramen in town and you can get it late at night on the weekends, which I love. 10/10 experience!!!“

“Shrimp of 4 of us went for dinner . It’s the most cleanest restaurant. Right from the start the staff was helpful , attentive and super friendly . We ordered apps and they were delicious . The Tuna poke was so fresh and spicy and delightful.. the owner brought us fresh oysters for our table with a delicious sauce I have never had on oysters before. The rolls the Ceviche roll was my favorite . Fresh fresh fresh . The King Kong was the everyone’s else’s favorite . Delicious . We are so glad we went there . We will be coming back more often . One more thing the music was so good .“

“Yamada-san is amazing and runs everything himself. We got lucky slipping in as a walk-in right before a big reservation, so it would be worth it to call ahead even for a party of two. The space only really sits about 18 people maximum.

The food was all very excellent and delicious. Flavorful and fresh fish. We tried the Marinated Black Cod, Beef Udon, and Chicken Kaarage. The Cod meal came with rice, miso, and some marinated kelp and pickled bamboo shoots.

It was a special experience and you'll be hard pressed to find many restaurants like this outside of Japan.“

“Overall great, only one person working/cooking when arrived, but went in around 3.30-4pm. Another person showed up around 5pm. The gyoza was fresh tasted very good. Sushi had no complaints, salmon,tuna and yellowtail tasted as it should. Good flavor, and was spicy. Wasabi was very good, I believe to be more a more closer to plant Wasabi. Overall was very good, I'd highly recommend giving it a shot. Tons of different fish rolls to try!“
