“The Alaska Fish House absolutely lived up to the hype!

We both ordered the fish & chips. I had the halibut, and my husband had the salmon. Without question, they were the best fish & chips we’ve ever had. The fish was incredibly fresh, flaky, and perfectly cooked with a light, crispy coating that let the flavor of the seafood shine.

The mesquite-seasoned fries were cooked perfectly, and the slaw had a unique sweet chili flavor that complemented the meal beautifully.

If you’re visiting Ketchikan, this place is a must-stop. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Alaska!

“We ate here VERY early in the season, so I assume they were still getting up to speed. There were only two people working. One gentleman who was hosting/running the front desk while trying to meet drink orders and communicating orders to the kitchen. And one in the kitchen who also served as food runner when orders were ready.

They only had tables setup in the very front of the room and a couple along the sides. The entire back-half of the room near the bar - as well as the bar itself - was empty. So, seating was limited. That might have been a good thing considering how understaffed they were.

With that said, while a little slow (understandably), the service was fantastic. Very friendly and as prompt as circumstances would allow.

As for the food... WOW! While in Alaska, we just had to try Alaskan King Crab (something we just cannot get in the Midwest U.S.). It was expensive, which seems a little counterintuitive given the locale, and I will say we were skeptical when a single claw came out. $60+ (which is cheaper than I've seen in some of the photos here) for a single claw. But, there was SO much meat in that. We were pulling hunks of crab meat out the size of a hotdog. And SO delicious. Indescribably good.

It came it a half-ear of corn. Sorry, the Midwest has you beat on corn. It was okay, but not near as good as what we grow down the street. Again, TOTALY understandable.

We did split a bowl of clam chowder as well, and it was also very good. Not Boston seaport good, but it was good.

All in all, this was well worth the stop. I'd scoped out a couple other places I knew we'd be stopping on our trip in Alaska, and prices for King Crab were pretty much in the ballpark with Krabby Krab. So, we checked that off our list.

“We love the Cafe's ever changing weekend brunch menu. We're in Ketchikan every few months (hope to move there soon), and we always stop there for brunch. If the Korean Street Toast is on the menu, don't hesitate, it's amazing. Great staff, great quality, and A+ for creativity of the menu.Food & drinks: So many delicious items on the menu. It is impossible to make a bad choice!“

“The five star rating is more for the service I received. My server Sean or Shawn, was very attentive and spoke calmy, I appreciated that a lot after a long 24hrs of flight cancelations and redirections in and out of Ketchikan. They answered all the questioned I had, cleared my plates as needed, also checking in often. I started with the tomato bisque and steake tips and both were delicious. I like when food is spiced and flavored well (tomato chunks could be a bit smaller tho, but thats just a personal preference about certain textures). The sauce the steak tips came with was great too! Then for dessert I tried the blueberry halibut -I think that was the fish- salad and it tasted just as delicious with a mix of sweet and savory, a combination I like a lot. Though I only wish there was maybe one more piece of fish. As for the prices all I can say is its Alaska and its tourist season, for the quality of ingredients and flavors I think its a fair trade off. One of the better meals I've had out here from a restaurant. And if you're smart about how you pair your dishes together you can get a lot of satiation out of you experience. Meal cost me about $60 (for one) including two glasses of champagne (not including tip - tip your servers but also businesses need to do better- but that's a debate for later ;).
