Don't miss Hueytown's top Mexican restaurants, as recommended by Restaurantji.
“This place was amazing! I had the chicken enchiladas with grilled chicken and they were the best enchiladas I think I have ever had in my life!! The corn tortillas they used were amazing! The gravy was fantastic! I didn't just love the margarita but my wife had a lemon, cherry, strawberry drink that was really good! Staff was friendly. Atmosphere was very authentic. Nothing fancy but the food was incredible!“
“My sister and I visited Taco Bell and grabbed some takeout the other day after we finished classes. There was a good amount of people inside and but the line moved pretty quickly due to the self service areas that were available. The self service areas also made social distancing easier as well. The restaurant was clean and the staff was nice and very helpful, although it didn't feel particularly welcoming inside. Once we began eating my sister and I both noticed that our food was cold, but despite that it was actually really good! Overall I had a decent experience, I got good food for a good price.“
“Amazing Place hands down!! Best taco truck around!! Top quailty food, and service!!!! Plenty of parking! Best Truck truck around by far!Kid-friendliness: Always kid in line and at the pinic tables. Very kid freedly. Extra parking on the other side of guard rail!!“

“This is my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant and by far the best food in North Alabama. Great atmosphere! Amazing service, thank you Luis and the guacamole to die for. The Mole sauce on the enchiladas is amazing and the shrimp cocktail is huge and very good. Just love this place. So much so I eat here almost every other night. Remember to support your local eateries so we do not starve.“
“Everything is fantastic here. It's always a wonderful experience. The food is excellent. I have tried several of their dishes. Nothing disappoints. The staff is all very welcoming, friendly, and courteous. The restaurant is very clean. The drinks are a must try.“
“I grew up in Hueytown,Al and Speedy's was our Sunday, after church, tradition. When I was little I honestly couldn't stand Tex Mex, Mexican food, but I always LOVED Speedy's humungous taco salads, and their mind blowing Combo burritos. There's nothing out of the norm with their recipe, or ingredients, nothing that's a radical departure from any other recipe, as far as I can tell, but there's honestly nothing better. Their salsa is phenomenal. I don't know what they make it from, but I've never had another like it. It haunts my taste buds, in the greatest way possible.I moved away from Hueytown over twenty years ago, and I found myself always wanting their food. i have seriously driven over 7 hours on occasion, just to go get some of their amazing, delectable, other worldly food and salsa. I've lived all over the country, lived in Texas, around some of the world's most authentic, best Mexican and Tex Mex restaurants, food carts, street taco vendors, and as amazing as that experience was, I still always found myself wishing that it was Speedy's.Perhaps it's a psychological, childhood association, leaving a deeply seated love for their food and salsa? Perhaps they're evil geniuses, and brainwashed my taste buds, using the world's leading experts on food based psychological warfare? Or maybe it's just really and truly that phenomenal? Sadly, I don't get to go there nearly as much over the last few years. The only time I do ever seem to pass back through my hometown, is when I'm there for a loved one's funeral. And yes, it may be able to be inferred, that I may possibly choose to make that long drive, for my combo burritos and salsa, more so than being the dutiful family member. But that's because of the taste bud brainwashing, right?! I'm always horrified that I'll find out that they've closed or retired, or sold the restaurant off to someone that doesn't honor old ways. I'm always so fearful that I'll never again taste the sweet nectar of their salsa, the ambrosia that is their burritos. I can't recommended enough selling massive bottles of said salsa, and cryogenically frozen burritos. One day those could save the world, or at the very least, satisfy my intense cravings.Until we meet again, hopefully sooner than later, never close, never stop doing what you do, and feel free to franchise to other states, please.TL;DRFood really really good. Me like a lot. May or may not be secret taste bud, mind control agents, hell bent on hometown taste bud domination.“
“Very good Mexican food. The service is either very good or not great at all. It really depends on which young lady is working the window that day. One will offer you extra napkins and salsa. The other will snatch the money or card out of your hand or charge you a dollar for an extra cup of salsa.“
“The food was decent, and the chips were white corn, not flour. Salsa was thickly based more like Campbell's soup, and I couldn't detect the cilantro flavor at all. I would have also liked more cheese sauce over the chimichanga. That said , the Dinner portion was huge , the chimichanga wide not long with a nicely marinated shredded chicken, and the rice was good, not dry or underflavored like so many. Though there were only 3 tables filled, my server 1 of 2 didn't really check on my drink or the food and was held up from delivering my dessert as he was in conversation with a patron at the bar. Oh, and I learned that I don't care for chocolate on my flan , but loads of great tasting whip cream abounded.“
“Excellent premier best Latino cuisine MexicaliI had the lamb soup it was essential with hot peppers because I like it hot I was able to edit it was so much I have two servings very impressed with this very good food here thank you hats off to the chef“
“One of the best hidden gems in town. Not many restaurants have birria tacos, but theirs are top tier.Kid-friendliness: Very spacious and accomodating for kidsParking: Tons of parkingWheelchair accessibility: They do have handicap parking and the entrance is easy to get into.Dietary restrictions: They can accommodate just about anyone. Just ask.“
“This place is a gem, it's not the cheapest restaurant in town but is one of the best value for money . They take pride in serving local organic food and will happily tweak dishes to suit your taste, allergies etc. We started with the quiche and a "bit of salad" which included mango, pomegranate, beetroot, peppers, avacado to name but a few. The result was amazing. My main course was strips of tuna served on asparagus with green beans and potatoes topped with a poached egg. I have stopped eating tuna in UK restaurants after some bad meals but this reminded me how good it can be. Being greedy we finished off with the famous chocolate brownie. Looking forward to the next meal there!“
“One of my favorite places with cozy and laid-back feel.?✅️?Vegetarian options: I'm sure one can order without meat and specify utensils to not touch any type of meats.Parking: Plenty and can park next door.Kid-friendliness: Have crayons and a sheet to stay busy.“
“I had their chicken soup. It was delightful. They wouldn't give up the recipe. :) Although, I didn't really expect them to. It's a clean place and a friendly atmosphere. My companions had the fajita burrito and the chicken fajitas. They all loved their meals as well. Great place for a weeknight dinner stop or lazy weeknight take out. Will visit again.“
“I'm addicted, lol. I can't stay away from El Loco Taco Truck. Believe me, the food is GOOD. It's better han alot of Mexican resturants I have tried. I usually get the shrimp combo plate which comes with 3 shrimp tacos rice and beans or you can get 2 servings of rice instead of beans. They have a truck in McCalls and on Bessemer Rd.Vegetarian options: You can choose to have meatless foods.“
“My family and I are currently visiting from Ontario, Canada and we have heard GREAT things about the Mexican cuisine in this area, after looking at different restaurants and many reviews, we have decided to take our family to this one and we definitely made the right choice! GREAT ATMOSPHERE, THE SERVER & GREETER WE'RE SO KIND! AND THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! We will definitely be coming back before we travel back to Canada. We HIGHLY recommend!Kid-friendliness: High chairs and kid friendly menu items.“
“Today we had my grandmothers funeral and had Diablo's for catering for the wake. It was a hit! The food was fantastic, they were on time and provided everything we needed (cups/silverware/plates). And the communication was great! We ordered the Deluxe Taco Bar and it was plenty for everyone! It came with all the different assortments of toppings that even the picky eaters enjoyed it. Also the price for it isn't bad at all. We would definitely recommend them for catering and will be using them again!“
“We were on the way back home and we stopped by this place. The food and the service was excellent, When we got there they were busy and we were greeted and seated fast. Great food selection and excellent service from the staff. Pricing is reasonable and their food was delicious. We ordered the combination parrillada, molcajetada and the shrimp quesadilla. Will definitely come back when we’re back in the area.“
“My husband found this place a few weeks ago. He first got me fajita nachos. I devoured those so sadly...no picture. A few days ago, I was craving fish and he remembered seeing a whole fish on their menu so he bought it for me. It was cooked very well. I just wish it was a bit more seasoned. Overall, we like their food and I'm sure we will order from them again soon. Oh..and they have karaoke. I might go sing a song one day.“
“Best shrimp taco I've ever had (and I've had plenty). Mama Coco is my new go-to place for shrimp tacos and other Mexican delights. The décor features huge displays of characters from the Disney/Pixar movie Coco (loved it), and the restaurant is well maintained and welcoming. The only problem with the menu involves decision-making...yours! Efficient servers deliver generous entrées on warm plates, and the colorful arrays of spiced and sauced foods will satisfy even the hungriest of diners. Exceptional!“
