Experience Fultondale's Mexican food at these fantastic spots.
“Love the food. Gluten free peeps - this is a good place for you! They don't have a gluten free "menu" per say, but you can order just about anything with corn tortillas instead of flour and the food has never made us sick, so they don't use gluten-containing spices in their meats, etc. at least not in a concentration to cause issues. Very fast for to-go orders. It's usually pretty loud inside, but feels like home. Drinks are reasonably priced as well.“
“Best taco bell around hands down great drive through service and amazing food especially there quesadillas I literally drive out of my way just to stop here and get food they are the chick-fil-a of taco bell absolutely amazing the managers should be proud cause they have a great staff and it shows in there food and service I highly recommend coming here for your taco bell cravings cause this restaurant took it to a new levelGreat job staff!! Don't let them Karen's bring yall down keep up the good work“
“Best ceviche I have ever had - and I’m from a costal state where it’s very popular. The atmosphere was great and our waiter was awesome! I had the Masa Custed Trout - 10 out of 10!! My son had Barbaccoa quesadilla, it was great too! Little one had a bacon quesadilla he ate ALL of it shocking for put 9 yo! Seriously though, go! You won’t regret it!!“
“The “vegan” tacos were absolutely incredible! Generously filled, excellent flavor and double tortillas. The mozzarella doesn’t seem vegan, though, so you may want to leave it off if you’re fully vegan. There are no tables or chairs. A place to sit would have been nice. But, the food was absolutely worth it and reasonably priced!!Vegetarian options: Awesome vegetarian tacos! They are labeled vegan, but the mozzarella did not seem vegan.“
“Food is consistently good. The brisket is always fantastic. The service can be a little hit or miss, but never terrible. Parking can be difficult at busy times but it’s in a pretty happening area. Margaritas are fresh squeezed and not made with a mix so they’re pretty tasty. Nice patio area when the weather is nice.“
“Walked in because of the sign. Wow, I was pleasantly surprised. It felt like an authentic Mexican taqueria. I order two steak tacos, which were absolutely delicious, and Mexican rice, which tasted divine! Very authentic Mexican food for a price that won’t break your wallet!“
“Nice small authentic Taqueria. It's not a big fancy restaurant, what is honest quality food. Amazing. Great for lunch or a quick husband wife dinner. Casual. They got a wonderful Habanero cream sauce for tacos that gives a little kick but tastes great.“
“It’s nice to walk in, have the menu and you get to order your food, and go to your table. So it’s a different method of placing an order. Food is good, large portions, slightly salty, yet still delicious.Clean location. The outdoors and indoors are open into each other with the large windows opened up. Beautiful location.“
“This is the BEST food truck in the city. Period. I've been going here for 10+ years and this is some of the tastiest food you'll find in all of Birmingham. Do not be fooled by the low prices - this is high-quality, fresh food you will love. Also don't be scared by some of the more exotic choices on the menu. My favorite taco is tripa (cow intestine) which I avoided for years because I wasn't comfortable with the idea of eating it. What a mistake that was! Dos Hermanos is amazing. Don't miss it.“
“This was like the fourth taco place I drove to on a Monday night and it was the only one open. I’ve driven by this place a lot and never gotten food here. I’m so glad I did! Service was amazing and fast. I got three tacos for under $10. The flavor was better than the surrounding taco trucks. I will be coming back! Also one of the only places I’ve ever been too that automatically gives you a cactus and onion side that is very unique.“
“Rojo is a staple in the area and I can’t imagine Birmingham without it! Tucked in beautiful Highland Park this gem is a must stop for the local atmosphere and diverse eats. Many gluten free/vegan options, dine in or to go… stuck at home? DoorDash it!!! You have to try the David’s Quesadilla, it’s a personal favorite. Stop in for open mic night for a good time or visit during any other special nights/events. Thank you for everything Rojo!❤️Dietary restrictions: Dairy free, Gluten Free, Vegan options“
“LOVE ?????? fattest n most SCRUMPTIOUS quesadillas I had in a while!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I overestimated myself, ordered 2 quesadillas, and couldn't finish because they were so big fat juicy ?????????????????????????? words cannot describe my delight...Wheelchair accessibility: Not really wheelchair or mobility disability friendly sadly. Many stairs n not much ramp“
“Everything is fantastic here. It's always a wonderful experience. The food is excellent. I have tried several of their dishes. Nothing disappoints. The staff is all very welcoming, friendly, and courteous. The restaurant is very clean. The drinks are a must try.“
“The girl that was hosting was absolutely phenomenal she was really sweet and really kind and really personable. All the way back to the Cook and everybody in between. This place was really a great experience for me and everybody was kind and courteous and they helped me out along the way, this is a great place I would suggest anybody go here I can't wait to get back over there! To the owner...Great job and I really think that you're doing a tremendous job in this community“
“I haven't been to a place like this in years..but I went with my friends family and I really enjoyed everything about the place the food there service and everything was clean ...the only complaint I have is about the price and after looking at the receipt when I got home I saw that we paid for an extra meal I'm fixing to call so I will update when I get a response!! Thanks guys!!Parking: They have wheelchair accessible parkingKid-friendliness: These guys were so sweet to the kids behind usWheelchair accessibility: It's ok“
“My husband and I have dined here many times and love the place, so we decided to invite my brother and sister-in-law to celebrate her birthday. It was just excellent!!First, the restaurant is beyond beautiful with the murals, decor, tiny ceiling lights, etc. We started with cocktails - Paloma (I always order this and it's the best in town), Ranch Water and a tequila neat. We shared the Sol y Luna Sampler, which is guacamole & pico de gallo w/ interesting assortment of chips - so fresh and delicious! For dinner, I ordered the grilled salmon w/ garlic mashed potatoes while my brother got the cantina house salad topped w/ grilled salmon. Both were excellent. The salmon was cooked perfectly with a wonderful sear on the outside and so moist inside. My husband and SIL shared the Gambas al Ajillo (the cooked garlic in olive oil w/ red pepper is outstanding!), Shrimp Diabla on a bed of mashed sweet potatoes w/ crispy potatoes, and Red Snapper al Mojo de Ajo w/ shrimp and an amazing tomato & onion sauce and all this came with baskets of bread to soak up all those flavors. As you can see from the pictures, each dish was just beautiful. And, each of them tasted amazing (I was lucky enough to get to sample their dishes). The seafood was not overcooked and each tapa was so unique and flavorful. In addition to the delicious drinks and food, the service was excellent. The hostess made her rounds throughout the night to check on customers and our server took great care of us. The owner, Jorge, was also very attentive, periodically checking on us and helping to make my SIL's birthday very special. So, based on this as well as our previous visits, I highly recommend this place. You won't be disappointed. We will be returning soon!!“
“First time trying and everything was on point. Hot and fresh and authentic best tacos I've had in Birmingham and coming from Houston after living there 10 years I love tacos and not just on Tuesday but everyday and this place is great no gimmicks just good food and the people working there are very nice the owners son always has a smile on his face and friendly as is everyone else there. I will definitely be back again I've already been 2 times in 2 days and might be back tomorrow if time permits. Unfortunately these guys aren't on Doordash or Uber eats because the owner doesn't want to do it but he should at least give it a try because the food is good but everybody isn't able to get to the restaurant to come try the delicious food.“
“Incredible food at a great price. Your kids will love this place. The service here is super friendly and helpful. They'll do what it takes to ensure you have a great dining experience. Ashley for example is 5 stars. Thanks Ashley.“
“Absolutely the greatest food in Birmingham!!!!! A must amount must!!!!! It taste it looks like there's no way something this complex would make sense. And it never will. They pulled off greatness from what literally seems like they threw darts at a globe and made the menu. Absolutely my favorite spot will always comeback again!!!!!“
“We have eaten here twice in the last week.. They have amazing fast service for a food truck and yhe baria tacos are best i've tasted in Birmigham... The only issue i can see is that its about 15-20 mins from the main highway. The food is worth the drive..???“
“This tacos had been on my tummy for a long time, and they still delicious as the first time. I don't usually take pictures of my food, but today I decided to take one. I ordered some CHICKEN FLAUTAS, these are crunchy rolled tacos, they're not ready when you order,no,it only take 10 minutes to cook them, but trust me,it's worth the 10 min waiting. So,for those who order FLAUTAS, ENJOY MY FRIENDS ??“
“This taco-bar is the best restaurant I've ever eaten at. It might be in a trailer behind jet pep on 1st Ave north. But the service is fantastic. The people are fantastic. The food is awesome. I'm serious. Plus the prices are reasonable. Very reasonable.“
“Taco Mama Downtown, you've knocked it out of the park once again! Last year, we celebrated my 16th Colon Cancer Free-Versary with an epic lunch at your spot. This year, we raced in the Rumpshaker 5k and headed straight to Taco Mama for our 2nd Annual Luncheon. The vibes, the grub, and the service (shoutout to Lee!) were top-notch as always. Thanks for always making us feel like family! Can't wait for the next visit! ?? #hardystrong #rumpshaker #family #fightingcolorectalcancer #survivor #goodtimes“
“The food was decent, and the chips were white corn, not flour. Salsa was thickly based more like Campbell's soup, and I couldn't detect the cilantro flavor at all. I would have also liked more cheese sauce over the chimichanga. That said , the Dinner portion was huge , the chimichanga wide not long with a nicely marinated shredded chicken, and the rice was good, not dry or underflavored like so many. Though there were only 3 tables filled, my server 1 of 2 didn't really check on my drink or the food and was held up from delivering my dessert as he was in conversation with a patron at the bar. Oh, and I learned that I don't care for chocolate on my flan , but loads of great tasting whip cream abounded.“
“Went for time on last Saturday. Ordered Pastor, Steak, and Chicken tacos. Everything was, fresh, hot, and cooked to order. Service was quick and everyone was friendly as well. The truck moves locations but I was lucky to catch them on this day at the Dollar General on Pinson Valley Parkway/Hwy 79. I will definitely be back.“
“We went here after a friend recommended it and had a great time! The cheese dip with chorizo is a MUST! The Al pastor tacos were also FULL of flavor and were very filling. We would definitely go back! It is a gem but not a hidden one, so make sure you get there early or after the rush on weekends! The Cadillac margarita was a big hit as well as the spicy mango frozen marg. I would definitely go back!“
“One of the best hidden gems in town. Not many restaurants have birria tacos, but theirs are top tier.Kid-friendliness: Very spacious and accomodating for kidsParking: Tons of parkingWheelchair accessibility: They do have handicap parking and the entrance is easy to get into.Dietary restrictions: They can accommodate just about anyone. Just ask.“
“Great food great prices at baja California. Staff is always friendly. With quick service. Love this placeDietary restrictions: I get corn and gluten free stuffKid-friendliness: Kind staff kids menueWheelchair accessibility: Flat surface to get into it.“
“I love the place. Mexico Lindo steak fajitas are the best in town. The fajitas arrive at the table, steaming with big strips of steak lying on top of the veggies. Unlike most Mexican restaurants, where the streak is chopped into pieces mixed in with the veggies. Everything I have had on their menue is really good. In addition to steak fajitas, the steak burrito is terrific. They have the best salsa. The menue has the best bang for the buck. I highly recommend you give it a try. The only thing missing is fresh lemon as they only have limes.Parking: Depending on the time of day, the parking lot can be pretty full.Wheelchair accessibility: There are no steps to enter the building, and dining is all on one level. There are plenty of seating options with tables and chairs that should accomadeate a wheelchair based on my observations.“
“The tacos, omg!! The best tacos I’ve ever had. It’s soooo so yummy! They have cabeza, lengua, and then also your regular tacos like chicken, al pastor, carne asada, carnitas, and so on. I’m telling you. These are some of the best tacos around. It’s so flavorful and spicy! The green sauce and red sauce are so good. They make the tacos fire, if you’re into spicy food. I always get a jarritos drink to go with my meal too. Wow, so good! 10/10.The only down side is that it’s a small area for sitting down, so if you come at lunch time, it gets pretty full. There’s also a little shop attached to the restaurant, where you can shop for some Latino goods. I get my hot sauces here. I love this place! Truly a hidden gem!! Yes, most employees only speak Spanish, but they still understand when you speak simple English and ask for what you need plainly.“
“This place is our second home away from home! Been going for YEARS and it's still feels the same. Great, service, positive attitude, GREAT food. The owner is absolutely amazing.? I just love this place so much. Ahhhh, I think I'll get up and go there now??“
“The food was very good and drinks were fantastic, but you definitely pay for it! A serving of chicken Hawaiian fajitas was $28 and the portion wasn’t very big. WAY over priced! My husband went there and had two med top shelf margaritas, small cheese dip, small guacamole and Hawaiian fajitas and our bill was over $70!“
“This place is a gem, it's not the cheapest restaurant in town but is one of the best value for money . They take pride in serving local organic food and will happily tweak dishes to suit your taste, allergies etc. We started with the quiche and a "bit of salad" which included mango, pomegranate, beetroot, peppers, avacado to name but a few. The result was amazing. My main course was strips of tuna served on asparagus with green beans and potatoes topped with a poached egg. I have stopped eating tuna in UK restaurants after some bad meals but this reminded me how good it can be. Being greedy we finished off with the famous chocolate brownie. Looking forward to the next meal there!“
“I quite enjoyed this place, but just had one issue. The staff were nice but there was only 2 for the entire restaurant, which was quite empty on a Thursday night. You are served a thing of tortilla chips and a spicy salsa.I had a steak with white rice, over easy egg and guacamole. I loved the guacamole, it was seasoned perfectly and creamy. The over easy egg was done perfectly and the white rice was great! The steak could have been really good but I asked for medium and it was well done, so it was tough, the flavors were good though. The paella valanceaga was pretty good! It's not a typical paella but a rice made and then added in meat like shrimp, squid, octopus, green mussels, and sausage. The rice had some spiciness to it that reminded me of a seafood seasoning, overall it was quite delicious! As for the drinks I had the lime frozen margarita and it was delicous!I definitely recommend trying this place out if you want to try some more of the authentic Latino and Peruvian dishes.Wheelchair accessibility: Everything is accessible by wheelchair.“
“Pancho's was great, in fact, so good that we didn't take a single pic of the food. The margaritas hit the spot and the atmosphere is colorful and laid back. Our server managed us and several other tables perfectly. All four of us enjoyed our entrees and definitely plan to be back.“
“I eat here a few times a week. They season the quesadillas flour tortilla that’s grilled perfectly and has a crispness to it. Tacos are fantastic! The staff is always friendly and smiling. Seriously, this is great food.Tried sopes here (not for me) and I prefer the chicken over the steak. ?“
“Stopped in on trip to Birmingham and were pleasantly surprised at our good luck. The food was nicely presented and delicious. We had combo plates with chicken and it was moist and tender. Chips and salsa was spicy and delicious. Quicamole Mexican was fresh, made with chunks of avocado, onions, tomato, and cilantro. We will be back.“
“The best whole grilled chicken in town!!!! I love ordering their grilled chicken, which is only available on the weekend. The chicken so well marinated which makes it so juicy to the bite and you taste the season to perfection. You get all the smokiness from the grill. Don't know if they use wood to grill them but there is just so much flavor on the chicken. I can even see the smoke from miles away. Maybe I'm exaggerating but you will too once you try it!! I always order one to two whole chickens depending who is eating and always ask them to cut them in parts. If I forget to request it cut, pardon me but you will see me dig in to that chicken like a cavewoman!!! The order of chicken comes with two decent salsas and a cabbage salad with radishes, tomatoes cucumber and lime to sprinkle it on top. The red chipotle salsa is hot and the green should have been medium but felt it was also hot, so be prepare hopefully the batch of salsa is not as hot on your trip. I also buy a pound or two of warm homemade corn tortillas, so I always ask if they have any since they almost always run out late afternoon. Depending on the occasion I will make me chicken tacos, prepare some sides with it, or just dig in like a bucket of full of chicken. So I fully recommend getting their whole grilled chicken if you are in the area during the weekend, you will not regret it!“
“Greeted and seated soon as arrival. The manger was nice and server was busy at the time it was only one server food and drinks came out so very quick . The food was amazing horchata my baby’s loved . This is a great restaurant close to my neighborhood first time experience was amazing and also they have a buffet and stay open till 10 and later on the weekends .Parking: Big parking lotKid-friendliness: One year old friendly and buffet for all“
“This place has great tasting food. The atmosphere is friendly. I'm Latino so you gotta do a good job making me feel like the food is authentic Hispanic food. I'd say they did pretty good. Give a shot you won't be disappointed.“
“Tonight was my first time going. It looks like your typical Mexican place but the FOOD!!! They gave me so much steak in my tacos, I couldn't roll it up! After I finished, I had enough meat left for another 2 tacos! They give you a DEEP cheese dip bowl VS the Lil shallow one most people use and it's LESS than $5; that's rare too! The servers were shaking hands and passing out hugs to the regulars, they treat you like family. I felt left OUT being the newbie? about the only person that DIDN'T get a hug. Shortly after I arrived, all the tables were full; the community loves this place. And I can see why! I'll be back!!!“
“The service received was very good and the margaritas were on point! I highly recommend the Guacamole Casera as an appetizer. I had the Chicken Fajitas and my date tried the Fiesta Bowl, it was fantastic! The brightly decorated dining room and bar area just add to the ambiance. My only reason for not giving a five star review is due to it taking almost 30 minutes to receive our food after ordering. They were very busy and the server kept us stocked on drinks and chips and dip. Maybe after my next meal I can update to five stars!“
