“I always stop at this location for breakfast on my way downtown for work. The service here is is fast and they are friendly. They actually ask you how many cream and sugars you want in your coffee. The biscuits are soft and fresh. The pleasant staff is what I appreciate the most.“

“Finally found as close to a Chicago dog as it gets in Bham. Wonderful flavor, all beef hotdog with pickles, tomato, sport peppers and mustard. The only thing it might have been missing is celery salt but I didn't miss it. The French fries were good, but the sweet potato waffle fries were amazing. Wife had a hamburger and it was excellent. They have local beers as well as other beverages. Will definitely be back.“

“First and foremost let me say this wad the first time I have visited Hamburger Heaven and I knew nothing about the place except it was close to another place I was meeting some friends and I needed to grab a bite to eat. So my expectations were nonexistent going into the place.

The atmosphere was what one would expect from burger place where you were grabbing a quick meal to hold you over to dinner.

The dinning room was a serious no frill kind of place. Nothing wrong with that, it's just not the kind of place you would take a date to impress.

Now with THAT being said, I was extremely impressed with their food. The burger I had tasted very fresh and made exactly as I ordered. The bun was not soggy and none of the condiments were overwhelming but I got a great balance of flavors with each bite.

The fries were the old style crinkle cut and you could actually taste them. They were NOT the blan fries that most of the big chain places try to pass off on everyone claiming to be fries. Definitely NOT the golden arches!

As for the service. I give 5 Stars even though they couldn't accept credit cards at the time. Luckily I happened to have cash so it wasn't an issue but I don't normally carry more than a couple dollars on me.

The people working there were friendly and the dinning room was cool and the floor was clean. I didn't see any dirty tables and the trash can that I used was completely empty.

I am curious now if the other Hamburger Heaven in Birmingham are run as well as this one.

If you are ever in the area and feel like having a great burger and/or fries... this is your place.

Parking: The parking lot looks freshly sealed and fresh stripes so it's easy to see were and how to park.

The lot was easy to get in and out of too.

Wheelchair accessibility: It looked pretty easy to get in and out of. There was not automatic doors.“

“We love Marty’s GM SO much! We moved away from the area years ago but still try to plan our trips to Birmingham around a trip to Marty’s! We always get the Chicken Bacon Ranch Egg Rolls, Goat Popper Burger, and French Fries. And then depending on what they have in the frozen machine, a frozen margarita or a bushwacker. Everything is always perfectly cooked and delicious! Honestly , it’s wild how consistent the food has been over the years. Absolutely fantastic every time we go.“

“They are a small business food truck that demonstrates nothing but exemplary customer service. My husband went by while they were in Helena for their to die for peach crumble. They were out of the dessert but they offered to make half a pan for us and said they will have it ready the next day at their next location at Shelby Baptist. I went by to pick it up and not only did they have it ready but they brought it out to me at my car. They are such nice people and I’m very happy at the customer service they display. “This past Saturday, I treated myself to a me date a day dedicated entirely to myself. After indulging in a relaxing one-hour massage, I found myself absolutely starving. Wanting to try something new, I continued my exploration of Homewood’s restaurant scene and landed on The Battery. I met my aunt there for lunch, and as soon as we arrived, I knew we were in for a treat. The place was packed inside and out which is usually a great sign. After about a 15 minute wait, we were seated. The interior had a modern, inviting atmosphere, and the service was excellent. Our waiter was incredibly kind, answered all of my questions, and I never once had to ask for a refill. Despite the restaurant being full, the service was impressively quick, and every dish arrived hot. Appetizers Buffalo Wings – The wings were well-sauced and smoked to perfection, with the meat falling off the bone effortlessly. However, the biggest letdown was the lack of seasoning. While the smoky flavor was great, the wings themselves needed more depth. 7.9/10 (With proper seasoning, this would easily be in the high 8s or even a 9). Queso & Chips – The chips were fresh, crunchy, and unseasoned but still did the job. The queso had potential, but it lacked the bold flavors needed to truly stand out. It wasn’t bad, but it could have been much better. 6/10 Entrées & Sides Wedge Salad – The salad itself was solid, but the bacon was a miss. It had an overpowering liquid smoke taste, leaving a strange aftertaste and smell. 7/10 Fries – These were outstanding hot, crispy, and well-seasoned. I also appreciated the variety of cuts and shapes. 8.5/10 Smash Burger – A well-executed smash burger with that signature crispy edge and juicy interior. However, the meat itself wasn’t seasoned, which held it back from being exceptional. 8/10 Final Thoughts Overall, The Battery was a great experience, and I’d happily return. The biggest downside was the lack of seasoning across multiple dishes. If they improved that, their food would easily score even higher. That said, I still highly recommend trying this place. Final Rating: 8/10 Service: 10/10 – Absolutely fantastic staff! Would I go back? Without a doubt.“

“We wanted a unique and local place. A hole in the wall if you will. The store front said this is it. When you walk in it doesn't look like a sit down restaurant, and there aren't many seats. Ms Dawson greets you from behind a wall and comes around to take your order. Plan to be patient as she cooks it fresh and is a solo operator. The burger was well worth the wait. Definitely give it a shot for lunch.. just don't be in a hurry.“

The burger was… ok. I wouldn’t get it again though. The fries had flavor but I didn’t like the quality of them! Maybe you guys could try cutting up and using potatoes for the fries… they just easily break and I didn’t like that.

“Let me start off by saying that these have got to be the messiest burgers on the planet. But.... they are well worth every napkin that you will use. I got the biggest burger that they offer, and let me tell you, I can eat, but I could barely find the room to eat half of it. It was so good. I highly recommend Hamburger Heaven. They are an icon in the Gardendale area. Oh, and their shakes are really good also.“

“I picked up my take out order. I told the staff I needed the strawberry shake. I was told a couple minutes later it was in the bag. I checked and I could see the top of the cup so I left. Got home and it was vanilla. My husband ordered the hot ones burger and there was a quarter size of sauce in the middle of the top bun. His burger was basically dry. My bacon burger was cooked too long, part of it was not edible because it was hard as a rock. This was my first time coming here and I don't plan on returning.“
