“The biggest setback for us was the bartender swore a single was a double. There is no way what I got was a double. The price for alcohol is already up there, but to short change, a shot or half shot is ridiculous. Overall, everything was perfect. Go to the location next to academy sports if you plan to drink as they will give you your money worth of drinks.“
“I'm a fan of this place so call me biased if you want but the wings here smack. Most places in town serve tiny finger sized wings but Wheelhouse has meaty, crispy, tender wings. There's only one flavor, but it's the classic hot wing flavor with some house ranch to dip it in. Can't go wrong with a pizza or quesadilla either, but I've never tried their pasta. They regularly host events too I don't know the schedule but the activities range from casino night to a smash brothers tournament. Place has screens everywhere two pool tables, arcade basketball, photo booth darts and the hanging punching bag bar game. I've never had a problem with the staff and it's usually not too crowded unless there's an event goin on. There's typically no cover and pretty nice spot for a bite before heading out to another bar downtown. Roll Tide“
“The Houndstooth is a T-town landmark sports bar. We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon during a Crimson Tide football game on TV. It has ample seating indoors and on a large street side patio. We sat at the bar and had excellent service. There are dozens of large screen TV's throughout providing good viewing of the Alabama game. We ordered some adult beverages and some bar food (wings, rings, fries and quesadillas). We were surprised when the food arrived at the bar in cardboard "to go" style boxes. ??? (The bar food comes from a related take-out place next door.). The food was good but the wings were very small (sparrow wings?) and the onion rings were disappointing as rings go - over cooked, breading crumbly and greasy. Alabama won the game clinching yet another SEC-West title. The place erupted in cheers and the bar cranked up Sweet Home Alabama which got everyone singing. Five stars for the ambience and service but three for the food. Hey, it's a sports bar, so I wasn't expecting a super gastronomic experience. Lots of spirit and energy on game day. The Houndstooth rocks. Roll Tide!!“
“I can’t say enough great things about 1225. Every experience we’ve had has been exceptional from the customer service, to the atmosphere, to the food and drinks. The restaurant is also locally owned versus having corporate ownership which allows for a more personal at home vibe where the owner is hands on and turnover is low. I highly recommend if you’re looking for an enjoyable time to share with family and friends.“
“I loved this bar when I was a senior in college at Bama! Because it was a bit more refined than the other bars in the area, it was nice to stop here earlier in the night and enjoy a few quality cocktails before moving on to the $3 beer specials and rowdiness elsewhere. The bartenders were always friendly, and they made some of the best car bombs. Another favorite of mine was the red velvet cake shot-- if you like sweet shots, this is a must!“
“We really enjoyed this place to watch the game, have some drinks and bar food. Everyone was able to find good things on the menu and the wait was shorter than downtown. And our waitress was amazing!!!Dietary restrictions: My daughter was able to find GF items no problem“
“The gator bites was wonderful!! Dan and I was on a road trip and I pick this place from the reviews. Did not disappoint!! I had the Alfredo and it was perfect and he had the Ribeye sandwich which was outstanding with waffle fries. Did not leave hungry!!“
“Wow what a surprise. Husband and I had a great lunch here post golf round. Food was outstanding in presentation and superb in flavor. Not sure what this restaurant has changed in the last few months, but keep doing it! Haven't had food here taste this good and look so appealing in a long time! I had the Full Grown Adult grilled cheese with onion rings and hubby had Crawfish Etouffee. The service was outstanding as well. We will happily eat here again soon!“
“This is the closest you’ll get to a New York slice in the state of Alabama I dare say. I never thought I’d be a fan of this style of pizza until I tried The Standard. I also love being able to grab a cheap beer and watch some football with friends just a couple hundred feet from my apartment. I wish they’d add some more TVs though! Otherwise, an awesome experience“
“My husband and I visited Tuscaloosa today. My hubby is a huge BAMA fan. We absolutely love going to dive bars! Looked it up and found Jackie’s. We could NOT have had a greater experience! The owners (Joe and Rhonda) are so nice, the bar tender (Madeline)was on top of every request! (Never had an empty drink - which is extremely important to me). Jessie, another bar tender who was not working, but we were lucky to meet her as well, who also seems to be part of the family, is so sweet too! The rest of patrons were so nice and inclusive to the fun activities…it was Trivia night!!! So fun! Would totally come again! Great drinks, vibe and company! Can’t wait to visit again!!!“
