“Was working in Tuscaloosa and a restaurant with a two hour wait recommended the River. We had the steak filet and the seared tuna. Both dishes were absolutely amazing. The service was outstanding and the whole experience was just classy and comfortable. Brussel sprouts were on special for an appetizer, they were the best we’ve ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant.“

“Urban Cookhouse has a simple easy to order menu. It was packed last time I had lunch. Turnover is pretty fast so finding a seat is not difficult. Outdoor patio will be more conducive as fall comes and the heat reduces. Great staff - very helpful. Healthy menu!

Parking: There are spaces all around the building so don't worry if you cannot find a parking space right in front of the doors. You may have to walk 40 yards at the most.

“The food was modestly priced, which I appreciated, but the skin on the plantation sausage was really hard. Also, the place had a faint smell of mildew.

The waiter was great and super friendly. We were thankful that there was a place open so early! I teach school, so it's hard for me and my fiance to find somewhere to sit down and eat in the morning before work. I will be going back.“

“Saturday lunch with children. The lamb and chicken were hot. The fruit was fresh. I do wish my Tomato Basil had been grilled on both sides or at least warm rather than served refrigerator-cold it was still tasty! I always forget to order extra rice. We LOVE the rice!

Parking: Place was pretty busy and parking was tight. If you do go around the back of the building it dead ends so if your in a larger vehicle it would be hard to turn around.“

It’s a 10 second walk from where I work so my friends and I have started trying it out and all of us have nothing but excellent things to say! Everything from the country fried steak, to the cheese burgers, to the prime rib has been fantastic. On our last order we got sweet potato fries. I just asked if they happened to have a sweet caramel drizzle or something to top it with. They said they didn’t, but by the time I picked up my order the chef had prepared one off the cuff and it was also amazing. So obviously excellent pride in their craft, and customer service. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed. If you’re familiar with the Tuscaloosa area, I believe it could be the next 15th Street Diner for me.“

“This location was way above my expectations. I eat at this establishment all over and I can say that the waitress Daphne was so polite and cheerful. Always had a smile, interacted with my friend and I as if she has always know us. Made sure she kept us updated with when each course of our food was coming out and making sure we had everything we needed. Made us feel welcomed. I can't say enough about her. We ordered a steak and ribs. The steak was cooked PERFECT (medium). The ribs did fall off the bone and both had perfect seasonings. Our margaritas (watermelon and el patron) was just right alot of times they usually have too much flavor and not enough alcohol. Not these, just enough of both. Keep up the great work. Daphne, thank you for making us feel welcomed and treating us like family.“
