“This review for Cortez is long overdue. To add the very short of it at the start, if you live in Arizona and drink freshly roasted coffee daily and you are not buying from Cortez, you need to at least try a bag. My first order was because it was cheaper than other local specificity roasters. I keep returning for more because of Cortez’s unique selection of odd and exciting fermentations and processes (Juicy Lulo springs to mind quickly). It is some of the best coffee you will ever have. Story Time: Sorry, not sorry. I used to go down the street from work and pick up bags from another Arizona roaster; however, I was laid off from GM along with over 900+ other people. I found Cortez by searching for a local coffee roaster that I could order by mail that would not break the bank to save some money. I made my first order on Nov 8th, 2023, and ordered a bag of Columbia Ocampos, plus some other small 8oz bags from Cameroon. I made my first cup of Ocampos and quickly realized that it was one of the best cups of coffee I have had, and with that, he had me hooked because, on Nov 22nd, I ordered a second order, then Dec 10th, Dec 22nd; you get the idea... I have been drinking coffee daily from Cortez for over a year, and each new, unique coffee gets better and better. My standard order is a monthly 2lb bag of Vulcan Azul for espresso and each new drop. When writing this, it is Colombia Vergel, which is just… amazing! It is fruity, acidic, and a real treat for the senses; who knew coffee could be so wild and flavorful! I had the pleasure of meeting Ron Cortez at his cafe (The Bright Side) in Tempe once a few months ago. He was an absolute pleasure, and I felt I could speak with him about coffee for quite a while. I ordered a pour-over Finca Amalita (that is his farm, so cool!), which was made in a vandola, and to this day, I have not had a better cup of coffee, and I really need to find some time to go back. Anyway... long story short, buy some Cortez Coffee.“

“They have the best coffee around! Everything is good - the latte, drip, cold brew. It’s never bitter and always smooth. Their food is good too. I love their breakfast burritos!“

“Cute little hole in the wall. Their breakfast burrito with chorizo is so yummy and they offer both hot sauce and salsa. Lots of options for pastries and breakfast items. I'm not a huge coffee drinker but I had a chai tea latte and it was so good. There were also options for tea and energy drinks. I also saw they have flights of coffee! Will definitely be back.“

“Press coffee is a must every time I travel to Tempe, Az.Originally I stoped for the lattes. My go-to is a 12 oz latte with oat milk. I always pick up yummy chocolatey notes with a hint of toasted caramel.Then one day I tried their breakfast burritos. I have to have one every time I visit now. IDK how they make them taste so good, it is perhaps the combination of the coffee and the burrito that pairs really well. Highly recommend this combo! :)Press also offers additional bites to eat, and if you show up early enough you might get lucky and get one of their mini cupcakes. “Great environment with a lot of choices and selections. for coffee I chose to have a dark roast pour over and it was great. Very smooth flavor. I visited 4 coffeeshops while in Tempe, this one was the best! They also had plenty of plugs for charging... and while it was busy, there was a lot of seating. Very industrial vibe.“

“My husband and I absolutely love coffee and we’re so excited to hire Blue House Coffee Cart for an extra special touch on our wedding day. The specialty coffees were absolutely amazing, so fresh without any artificial taste. I believe they make their own syrups. We were also able to customize the names of our drink menu, we liked this subtle way to include our husky and golden retriever. The baristas were fantastic, I heard a lot of compliments from our guests about how friendly they were. Definitely worth it! I can’t comment to the food or the atmosphere because we had our own food at the wedding venue, but the coffee cart had very nice appeal set up in our space.“

“Coffee Builders is a great little coffee shop just south of Downtown Phoenix! The atmosphere inside it amazing and unexpected! The craft coffee beverages here were amazing and the presentation of them was above parr! It’s not your typical grab and go plastic cups, that’s for sure! While there we also tried the quiche, which was by far some of the best (non traditional) quiches I’ve had!

Parking: There is plenty of parking both along the lot on 7th Street as well as just behind the building!“

“This small coffee shop/kiosk is just a short walk from where I live. The staff here are all very friendly and their coffee is consistently good quality (I only order hot coffee drinks FYI). There is outdoor seating only, but plenty of it and the area is mostly shaded. Keep in mind this shop is only open in the mornings.“

“What a cute spot

We headed there at the perfect time. The weather was cozy and they have a really great shared patio with the other neighboring establishments.

I noticed traffic picked up around 11am so if you’re looking to snag a good spot and get some work done I suggest showing up prior to 11am

I realized I didn’t grab any pics of the inside but here’s what you need to know

For those who actually need work space upon entering they have a bar that looks out to the street. This spot holds about 4-6 people

When you first walk in if you turn slightly right they have 4 tabletops if you’re working with some friends

I order a coffee ☕️ flight which isn’t on their menu but I did see on IG they had a Halloween coffee flight line up

So happy I got it

Decent sizes for a flight as well
A lot of places give you a small sample so I really appreciated them topping it off

Some winners overall for coffee selections
You can’t go wrong with the honeycomb latte

Several folks ordered it and raved about the flavor

They also have a pistachio latte which I absolutely fell in love with so if you love a nutty coffee flavor I recommend giving this a try

Only con is I did not see any spots to plug in your laptop so if you’re actually working bring a device to charge up so you don’t run out of juice“

“My favorite place! Has a balance of tasting great while having a strong coffee taste. A lot of places in the valley struggle with this balance but Thanks A Latte gets it exactly. Also the service is great the lady that runs the place is very personable and always asks about me and my family when I walk in. It is a smaller coffee shop but there are also other great places in the same plaza like Vanes Cafe where you could grab a bite, sit down and relax!“

“This place is fantastic, we are happy to have it in our neighborhood. The staff was so helpful and made great recommendations. We had a spicy Italian sub and a pastrami panini. Both were amazing, lots of meat and everything was super fresh. We also got a taro milk tea and there were so many ways to customize it. I got exactly what I wanted and it was deliciously perfect. The menu has many options for breakfast along with the sandwiches. We can't wait to go back.“
