Absolutely love love love Houlden's. A brilliant local gem with outstanding and delicious recipes that make the most wonderful pastries. Sweet and savory alike! The humans that run this place seem pretty great and you can tell from how much heart and love they put into their bakery and the food they share with us.
Whatever kind of "-vore" you are, you will not be disappointed...these are some of the best pastries I've ever had!I was fortunate to stumble upon this place while visiting from out of town. I had a lovely chat with one of the owners who talked me through their available items and how long they'd keep since I wanted to take some extra home ?The pastry dough is *chef's kiss*...just the perfect amount of flakiness and crunchiness... Chocolate peanut butter cake was decadent!! The trifle omg! Got there in the afternoon so we were lucky they had anything! Got my son a chocolate chip cupcake and he had no idea it was gluten free and vegan... so much yummmm
