“Drinks were delicious. We visited when it was 105 degrees out and it was surprisingly comfortable inside/outside in the patio area. Patty was a great bartender. She was very efficient and friendly. Prices were reasonable compared to downtown Tucson.“

“I had been wanting to visit Tabu for some time and finally decided to stop in for a good glass of Merlot. When our server, Chris, informed me that they didn’t carry Merlot, I almost left. However, rather than simply telling me it wasn’t available, he took the time to explain the reasoning behind the decision. I genuinely appreciated his transparency and thoughtful approach. The ambiance was inviting, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the vibe was definitely vibing, so I decided to stay. I’m so glad I did!

What impressed me most throughout the evening wasn’t just the service, but the way Chris spoke about Tabu. As he shared some of the exciting initiatives the establishment has on the horizon, I noticed something that really stood out to me: he consistently used the word “we.”

As someone who studies organizational leadership, I immediately recognized the significance of that simple word. Chris didn’t speak as someone who merely worked for a company. He spoke as someone who genuinely felt he was part of it. That kind of ownership, pride, and connection doesn’t happen by accident. It’s cultivated through trust, respect, and intentional leadership.

As the conversation continued, Chris shared a little about his history with Tabu and how the owners had genuinely invested in him, not simply as an employee, but as a person. That spoke volumes to me.

To the owners of Tabu: I commend you on your leadership, hiring decisions, and the culture you are building. Creating an environment where employees feel valued, supported, and personally invested in the success of the business is a remarkable accomplishment. Chris is a testament to that culture and an outstanding ambassador for your establishment.

And to Chris: Thank you for being exceptional! Your professionalism, authenticity, enthusiasm, and genuine pride in your workplace made an impression that extended well beyond excellent customer service.

I walked in looking for a glass of Merlot and left with something much more meaningful: a renewed appreciation for what great leadership and a people-first business culture look like in practice.

I will absolutely be returning! I wholeheartedly recommend Tabu, not only for its wonderful atmosphere and hospitality, but because businesses that genuinely value their people deserve to be recognized and supported.

“good bar, just fyi when going to this bar do not get hammered and go outside by yourself just for your own safety there is a bunch of odd individuals outside that only pull up to you when they see you’re intoxicated and will attempt to harass you to get into their car under the reuse of being a taxi driver“
