Literally THE best family business and amazing food. Everything is made on-site. The packaged dim sum may be frozen, but don’t let that fool you one bit- it packs a hefty punch of flavour! Kam Wai Dim Sum 金威點心 is a great place with fresh food and frozen dim sum. The order has shiumai, pork buns, dumplings, congee, spare ribs, har gow, pork siu mai, beef meat balls, vegetable bun, wonton soup, mushroom dumplings, Ha Gow (shrimp) and red bean sesame ball. Prices are reasonable and very cheap, with $18.50 for 4 pieces of har gow, 4 pieces of pork siu mai, 3 beef meat balls and pork/vegetable bun, and total $28 for a order. The staff are friendly and service is very fast. The restaurant has two locations: one on E Pender Street in Chinatown and one on Hastings and Nanaimo, the Hastings location is still in soft opening mode. Seating is extremely limited and the place is clean and you can take the food to go or purchase frozen to steam at home. Many recommend this authentic Chinese food spot for cheap eats and delicious dumplings.
