50 Best Cafes in Victoria

“This is the best Authentic Japanese in Victoria hands down. Haven’t had such a wonderful set since being in Japan! I have been two nights in a row.

The Sabayaki and Chicken Katsu sets were perfectly executed and each of the sides are made expertly. Delicious!

The customer service is phenomenal and the atmosphere is comforting. They take pride in their restaurant, make food with love and serve with care 😊“

“This is one of Victoria's highlights. Bunny's is a hidden gem of a cafe and one of the few places to get a decent latte, flat white, or cappuccino. The food is good, but the atmosphere is cozy and community-oriented. The best way to describe Bunny's is that it's like coming back home for the first time. We're originally from Ontario, and stepping into Bunnie's, it was a quality cafe experience without any of the pretentiousness downtown. Just make sure you have some time to kill because once you get to the cafe, you won't want to leave, and they do close early.“

“So, this was a take a picture before I ate fail; I even forgot to take a picture of my empty tray. But thankfully, there were some very kind people at Wheelies who allowed me to take a shot of another sandwich before it went out to the customer who ordered it.

I had their special and it was delicious. A masterfully creative play on a Big Mac (my inference - apologies if I got that wrong). It was supremely satisfying and a flavour explosion. So many things on their menu look absolutely outstanding. I can't wait to go back and work my way through it, and also their cocktails menu.

I'm gonna give a special mention to Working Culture who pointed me in the direction of Wheelies. They were on my to patronise list for today as I continued my search for amazing sandwiches, but alas, they were out. I'll pre-order next time.

“I highly recommend this small, cozy, homey place. The staff/owners are so friendly and the cook/chef, a wonderfully friendly woman came out a few times and chatted. I came for the German meal tonight and it was fantastic. The red cabbage was like my mom used to make and the schnitzel was pounded into perfection! Topped off with an awesome Black Forest … all deeeelicious.“

“Fantastic, cozy little cafe! It's a little bit hidden behind the apartments, but it's a lovely environment and as far as I know, family-owned.

Prices are reasonable, lattes are extremely comforting like a warm hug. I've only had their iluka buns but they did not disappoint.

“Sedona Cafe & Lounge is amazing! Lovely patio, fabulous food & classy vibe! We had the Sedona burger with Yvonnes amazing homemade salad dressing. Then to top it off, homemade sticky toffee pudding with homemade ice cream! (We shared but now I wish I didn't have to) It was all to die for and the perfect place for foodie lovers date night! “Oh wow, this just became my favourite cafe in the city—hands down. If the super great used book selection and array of African and West Asian vinyl (new and OP) wasn’t an indication this place is run by some wickedly cool people, the excellent coffee and food selection would still make this place marvelous and quite special.

We got apple cider, a latte, the orange-pumpkin tart and some savory bites and we got two books and we’ll definitely be back! Thanks for being cool Torch Song!“

“Fantastic!!!! The food was truly amazing and the prices are so reasonable! The bacon was thick and chewy and crispy- just perfect! Of course the biscuits were exceptional and perfectly cut and toasted. I had the egg and bacon Sammy and added tomatoes and avocado. Perfect!!! Group of 6 all raved! A diverse, spread on a theme, and I'm not a gravy fan and it too was delicious. The special steak had homemade dips and stuff, and the vege was it was incredibly complex and yummy looking. I WILL BE BACK!!! The baked goods looked fantastic, but I'm so full!“

We are glad the server recommended Chicken 65 as it was truly delicious alongside the flavourful chutneys. The chef owner chatted with us about the traditional ways and ingredients they use. “I’ve been getting takeout coffee here nearly every morning since I started working downtown. They open at 6:30, but were kind enough to take my order at 6:15 such great service! I grabbed a coffee and the English Breakfast Muffin (aka EBM), and it was way tastier than anything you’d get at a fast food spot. The cakes and pastries are also very good, and I believe they’re made in-house, which makes them extra special. The prices are exceptionally reasonable too. This is great place and the wonderful people who run it. Perfect place to start the day. I always leave very satisfied!“

“We were visiting Victoria on our way back to Seattle from Vancouver after an Alaskan cruise ( slight detour). We stayed overnight in the Fisherman’s Wharf and were looking for a breakfast place. We wandered up and found Imagine. The food atmosphere everything was fantastic. So much so that when looking them up as I’m scrapbooking my trip 2 years later, I told all my friends how great it was and decided to write a review. If I ever have the fortune to find myself in Victori again, Imagine will absolutely be on my todo list!“

“I have been drinking their coffee for decades. It has always been consistently wonderful. Bring cash !“

“The cafe in the UVic MacPherson Library has the usual light eats and coffee/tea menu. There’s actually a fairly wide selection of sandwiches and baked goods. The variety of Numi tea is nice; I like their teas. The sandwiches are all of the prepackaged variety, but I thought my smoked salmon bagel was pretty good given that. The only complaint was that the greens on it were a little past fresh, and the bagel was just cold and probably would’ve been better warm or at least room temp. The salmon thankfully was fresh enough. It tasted like it would’ve been a really good sandwich if it had been freshly made, and I honestly prefer that over a fresh but mediocre sandwich. Note that I was there on Sunday, so it’s possible the selection may be fresher during the week. I also got a vegan cherry brownie which was great, chewy and moist, not too sweet. For a little university cafeteria I thought it was pretty good.
There’s lots of seating here but it is a library, so lots of students studying made it pretty busy, and this was Sunday, so while I was able to get a table without struggle, I would imagine it would be harder on weekdays. It was, as far as I was aware, the only place open on campus on a Sunday midday besides Starbucks and dining halls.“

“Used this cafe for a quick breakfast when staying at the hotel. It has a good range of drinks and breakfast, brunch and afternoon tea items all of which appeared to be reasonable quality and the ones we had tasted fine.
As others have mentioned it is a little expensive but there aren't many options within a short distance. Also it gets busy and there can be a queue“

“Stopped by for some take out. Got a samosa, sausage roll, a fillet of salmon and Nanaimo bar. Samosa was delicious and there were meat and veggie options. It was also still warm when I got home which I did not expect. Nanaimo bar was elevated. You could tell good quality dark chocolat was used. Would definitely return to try other options. Everything looked very fresh and delicious.“

“As tourists used to the likes of Starbucks, Bows was out of the ordinary for us as the menu is classic and minimalistic, without the additives we are used to. However, customer service was excellent—they talked to us about what we liked and helped us curate a drink to our tastes, and they were very informative. Our coffees were delicious, as well.
