“I can’t believe such amazing food and service comes out of this tiny unassuming roadside stand!!!!! Friendly faces, best burger on the peninsula and so fresh. Their own beef and perfectly cooked local bacon, I’m sure the produce is from their farm as you can taste each individual component. Congratulations and I’ll definitely be back with friends and family 🍷🥩❤️🙏👍“

“Fantastic service, with a smile. The Americano I had was as smooth as the cream I poured into it! No bitterness, and no biting aftertaste. They roast their own beans, so, unlike those American franchise places that burn the beans beyond recognition, these folks have mastered the fine art of crafting the perfect roast coffee bean.
Could change the name of that drink to a “Saanichtono”, to emphasize the localness of it all.
Bonus points for having a bike lock area!! I will be riding up here when winter ends. 🙂“

“Have had sandwiches and baking during the day before and all was wonderful. The porchetta sandwich was ahmazeballs. Finally got in for dinner tonight. Absolutely top shelf experience. The service was attentive, knowledgeable and subtle. I had the ling cod croquette appetizer: texture super smooth and the pickle sauce was perfect. For a main I had the rolled turkey with rhubarb, fiddle heads and turnip. Beautiful plating and the dish was delicious. The rhubarb was very subtle and tender and turkey was juicy and flavourful. Desert was the brûlée tart with rhubarb sorbet. Again delicious. If only we lived closer this would become a frequent special event restaurant. 100 percent, you should try it. If you are heading to the ferry, try and take the time to sample this hidden gem.“

“We arrived for high tea to celebrate my friends birthday. Seated at a perfect table on the patio over looking the Italian gardens. Our server was lovely. Kept us informed of all of the delightful offerings. We are so grateful to live near this world renowned garden. The high tea did not disappoint from the presentation to the flavours. All of us were so pleased. We will return with more friends and tell everyone about our fabulous afternoon. A stroll in the gardens after topped it off to be a fantastic day.“

“Alexander’s Coffee is a wonderful little café that captures everything we love about coffee culture. It’s small, quaint, welcoming, and has the kind of atmosphere that invites you to slow down and simply enjoy the moment.
The staff greeted us with genuine kindness and great conversation, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in.
And yes… the coffee is excellent! ☕ Even better, the people are just as amazing.
This visit felt like a little blessing, especially because one of us is named Alexander. That’s what first drew us in, and we’re so grateful it did!
If you’re looking for great coffee, wonderful people, and a cozy atmosphere, we highly recommend stopping by.

“Exceptional coffee, baked goods, and service. As someone living in Royal Oak, I just wish this business was more walkable with a sidewalk. Some plantings or landscaping to block the view and noise of the bus road might be nice long term.“

“Delicious breakfast sandwich and best hash browns in town! Food is always hot and fresh when it is served. Friendly service.“
“Atmosphere and service were great, but the food itself was just average.
It's tucked away in a quiet corner near UVic, so it can be a little tricky to find the first time. But that's also what makes it a bit of a hidden gem. There's a courtyard and a pond right inside the restaurant. The vibe feels like a lodge nestled in a scenic spot.
The servers were nice and attentive. The menu was pretty varied too, going beyond basic burgers and sandwiches to include tacos, poke bowls, etc.
Overall it was a pleasant experience, but the food fell short compared to specialty spots. It wasn't bad, just not quite good enough to call delicious either. That said, the plating was very appetizing.
A nice spot to eat surrounded by quiet, green forest scenery. Just don't go in expecting specialty-restaurant-level flavor.“

“Located across from the British Columbia Museum Mary’s is the ideal stop after visiting the museum. Great foods, fast service and fun atmosphere“
“Cheaper than the cove and nice staff however there’s only like 1 lunch vegan option and sometimes they don’t have it - the hummus veggie wrap. I saw them trial another vegan option (like quinoa salad or something) but it didn’t appeal to me. Hopefully they can add some other tasty vegan options :) Daiya makes yummy vegan cheese (when warm) which can be an easy swap for noodles/lasagna… or a vegan sandwich option (ex. Roasted veggies, pesto, vegan cream cheese). Coconut oil, vegan butter, and/or vegan cream cheese could be an option to make the bagels vegan too!“

“Quince has such great energy. As soon as we walked in, we immediately noticed how warm, cute, and inviting the space felt. It may be small, but there is plenty of seating both inside and outside.
The coffee and espresso were delicious!
We are grateful for this experience and highly recommend Quince for great coffee, friendly energy, and a vibe that fits beautifully with the Sidney area.
Afterward, we took our coffee on a short walk to the oceanfront, where we found patio chairs and a grassy area to sit, relax, and enjoy the scenery. It was the perfect way to complete the experience.
Thank you, Quince!

“I meant to post this review ages ago. I purchased an Americano at Fresh Cup over a year ago & I was struck by how courteous & professional the two employees were. They demonstrated real skill as they calmly filled a myriad of orders. They managed the volume well & worked together respectfully. I ordered an iced Americano & the barista made it perfectly (not too much water so it was a good, strong pour). These types of service sector jobs can be tough & I was impressed with their good work. The coffee was delicious too 👍“

“We stopped at The Blue Poppy Restaurant for lunch during our visit to The Butchart Gardens and were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. For a cafeteria-style restaurant inside a popular tourist attraction, the quality exceeded our expectations.
We ordered the seafood pasta, which was generously loaded with prawns and scallops. It was rich, flavorful, and so delicious that our kids polished it off in no time.
We also tried the Butter Chicken Poutine, a Canadian classic with a creative twist. Crispy French fries were topped with cheese curds, rich butter chicken curry, roasted cashews, and other flavorful toppings. It was absolutely outstanding—comfort food at its finest and almost impossible to stop eating after the first bite.
The restaurant overlooks the beautiful gardens through large picture windows, making it a lovely place to relax and enjoy the scenery while you eat.
Service is cafeteria-style but fast and well organized, with friendly staff and prompt delivery to your table. A wonderful lunch stop during a visit to The Butchart Gardens.“
