“My friend and I went here for dinner today while waiting till it got dark out to see the Christmas lights in the gardens. It was our first time eating here and we loved it, the food was great we both had the burger and I had a Christmas Tree gingerbread cookie for dessert. I was satisfied with the service I received especially when I thought I had to pay for my meal at the end instead of at the beginning, so when I realized that when I saw the cashier, the staff behind the counter were really kind to let me set my tray down while I go back to my table to get my purse with my wallet and I didn't have to go back through the lineup to complete my order to do it so I was really happy. “I highly recommend this small, cozy, homey place. The staff/owners are so friendly and the cook/chef, a wonderfully friendly woman came out a few times and chatted. I came for the German meal tonight and it was fantastic. The red cabbage was like my mom used to make and the schnitzel was pounded into perfection! Topped off with an awesome Black Forest … all deeeelicious.“

“So, this was a take a picture before I ate fail; I even forgot to take a picture of my empty tray. But thankfully, there were some very kind people at Wheelies who allowed me to take a shot of another sandwich before it went out to the customer who ordered it.

I had their special and it was delicious. A masterfully creative play on a Big Mac (my inference - apologies if I got that wrong). It was supremely satisfying and a flavour explosion. So many things on their menu look absolutely outstanding. I can't wait to go back and work my way through it, and also their cocktails menu.

I'm gonna give a special mention to Working Culture who pointed me in the direction of Wheelies. They were on my to patronise list for today as I continued my search for amazing sandwiches, but alas, they were out. I'll pre-order next time.

“Fantastic, cozy little cafe! It's a little bit hidden behind the apartments, but it's a lovely environment and as far as I know, family-owned.

Prices are reasonable, lattes are extremely comforting like a warm hug. I've only had their iluka buns but they did not disappoint.

“We were visiting Victoria and by chance met Fadi- one of the owners who told us about his family’s cafe. We LOVE Lebanese food so decided to check it out for lunch. We had chicken shawarma donairs and tabouleh and loved it. But most of all his family is so kind and warm and the cafe is super cute! Thank you!“

“Have had sandwiches and baking during the day before and all was wonderful. The porchetta sandwich was ahmazeballs. Finally got in for dinner tonight. Absolutely top shelf experience. The service was attentive, knowledgeable and subtle. I had the ling cod croquette appetizer: texture super smooth and the pickle sauce was perfect. For a main I had the rolled turkey with rhubarb, fiddle heads and turnip. Beautiful plating and the dish was delicious. The rhubarb was very subtle and tender and turkey was juicy and flavourful. Desert was the brûlée tart with rhubarb sorbet. Again delicious. If only we lived closer this would become a frequent special event restaurant. 100 percent, you should try it. If you are heading to the ferry, try and take the time to sample this hidden gem.“

“I wanted to give a huge shout out to Torch Song Cafe! My soon to be daughter in law had an appointment at the White Peony next door. We arrived a little early so decided to grab a hot drink and a muffin beforehand. We had just received our drinks when the bridal shop opened so we didn’t have time to finish. When we left (successfully after buying a wedding dress) we were offered a re-make of our drinks “to-go” by the lovely woman who had served us at the cafe. It was such a thoughtful gesture. By the way, if you like a good bran and date muffin, they have the BEST!“

“Fantastic!!!! The food was truly amazing and the prices are so reasonable! The bacon was thick and chewy and crispy- just perfect! Of course the biscuits were exceptional and perfectly cut and toasted. I had the egg and bacon Sammy and added tomatoes and avocado. Perfect!!! Group of 6 all raved! A diverse, spread on a theme, and I'm not a gravy fan and it too was delicious. The special steak had homemade dips and stuff, and the vege was it was incredibly complex and yummy looking. I WILL BE BACK!!! The baked goods looked fantastic, but I'm so full!“

“This little cafe is phenomenal! I'm traveling⛴️ from Alberta and have been here twice. The food has been fresh, tasty and I absolutely loved it each time! The latte and cappuccino was delicious! They have lots of options too so if you are vegetarian, vegan or even keto, they've got stuff for everyone. If you are keto there's a vegetarian quiche that I think would count as low carb. They have great sweets too.
They even have complimentary lemon water. I highly, highly recommend this café! It can be a tad bit pricey, but worth every penny! It's a good thing I don't live here, I'd come here everyday and my poor bank account would beg for mercy.

However, customer service was excellent—they talked to us about what we liked and helped us curate a drink to our tastes, and they were very informative. Our coffees were delicious, as well. “Benjamin’s Cafe is one of the best places for Filipino food. We ordered the bulalo platter, and it was absolutely delicious—rich, flavorful, and comforting. We also tried their new Chami Tamis Anghang, and it was so yummy with just the right balance of sweetness and spice. The service was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. “Stopped by here while waiting for my flight and was pleasantly surprised. I was originally going to go to Spinnakers, but couldn’t justify paying almost $30 for a burger.

I ended up getting the buffalo chicken sandwich for $11.95 and it was generously stuffed with chicken. Overall, it was very good and a solid value. The woman working there was super friendly and happy to share ingredient information and answer questions. Definitely a great option if you’re looking for something tasty and reasonably priced before your flight. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐“

“Fantastic service, with a smile. The Americano I had was as smooth as the cream I poured into it! No bitterness, and no biting aftertaste. They roast their own beans, so, unlike those American franchise places that burn the beans beyond recognition, these folks have mastered the fine art of crafting the perfect roast coffee bean.

Could change the name of that drink to a “Saanichtono”, to emphasize the localness of it all.

Bonus points for having a bike lock area!! I will be riding up here when winter ends. 🙂“
