“This is a new neighborhood spot for me and wow it did not disappoint! The teokbokki was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy, and the rice cakes were so chewy and fresh! “Walking in, you may wonder if you'd walked into a bar, but stick around.
We showed up super late, but they still sat us. Food takes about 30ish or so minutes, and like I said, we were late. As in last table served late.

I got the 6 pc fish with greens and Mac. Clean fish. Greens with no pork. The Mac was spot on for what I expected.

My wife had the gumbo, which had everything in it that it should. She got her rice on the side, her choice, by the way.

My son got the 3 pc chicken wing and Mac. He had me strip the wings and ate it all and all of the Mac. This is rare for him being as picky as he is.

We also got a side of yams and grits. I like my grits cooked to a certain consistency, and they nailed it, unlike the soup they serve at Burdells.

Also threw 1 Heineken on to the bill.

Before leaving, we ordered a peach cobbler and banana pudding to go.
Get them both. The cobbler hit every childhood memory on the way down. The pudding My son wanted to have to himself.

We also grabbed the strawberry crunch for my wife's mother's birthday. She loved it. Thank you to the waitress who set us up with this. You were amazing and thank you for having us in that late.

Total bill was between 120-130

We will be going back for breakfast to try the chicken and waffles the waitress told me about. Given how picky and I am how good their food was I'm actually looking forward to it after how much of a letdown so many other places had been.“

“The food was delish but the service was inconsistent. We were served by multiple ppl but were told Emily would be our services throughout the night we have saw her twice. The food was very well done. We got the burrata, the Caesar, the special anchovy toast, the cast iron chicken, branzino, and the fresh pasta carbonara with the shoe string potatoes and the Brussels sprouts. For dessert, we got the chocolate bar. All in all a great meal for a fair price. Would be back if in the area as it’s one of the nicer restaurants in Alameda“

With only two staff members working the floor, the restaurant still managed a steady rhythm of service. For food, we ordered two dishes: the pork tonkatsu and their signature galbi jjim. The tonkatsu arrived quickly, golden and crispy, delivering the kind of satisfying crunch and savory bite you’d expect from a well-executed cutlet. The galbi jjim, however, was a different story. It took about 30 minutes to reach our table, which seems to be the norm based on observing other tables. While the wait did build anticipation, it also disrupted the pacing of the meal. When it did arrive, the flavors were solid—rich, hearty, and braised with care—but not quite at the level of depth or complexity I’ve had elsewhere. Personally, I still prefer Daeho’s version, which leans more memorable in both flavor and overall experience.

Service was professional and efficient given the limited staff, though not particularly warm or engaging. It felt more functional than personal, but everything we needed was taken care of without issue.

In terms of ambiance, Mashita balances casual comfort with a slightly polished feel, making it a nice spot for a relaxed meal with friends or family.

Value-wise, the restaurant is fairly priced for the quality and portion sizes. While the food is solid and the dining experience smooth overall, I didn’t find it compelling enough to make this my go-to spot for galbi jjim.

“10/10 in my book! And I hate to admit that I'm a picky girl. I'm a foodie. Servers are super friendly, vibes are nice with pleasant music in the background that's not too loud. And the food was delicious!

We got:
Mango Habanero wings (one of their specials of the day)
The wings were juicy and the sauce was amazing! Pretty sure they blended actual mango because the mango taste was there. I like spice, so I would say the sauce wasn't spicy at all, and the mango was the more dominant flavor. But it was really good :)

4 piece chicken meal with Mac and cheese and potato salad as our sides. The Mac and cheese was nice and cheesy. It gave classic Mac and cheese. I also think they broil the Mac and cheese with a layer of cheese on the top and then mix it into the Mac and cheese after, because I was getting bits of broiled cheese even on the deeper layers of the cup. Which was great. The potato salad had perfect seasoning and was also just really yummy. The chicken pieces were decently sized and I could taste the hint of rosemary on them. Very crunchy.

We also ordered a side of hot honey sauce, which we added to the chicken and the cornbread (as recommend by our server) and I did enjoy it! I did think it paired better with the cornbread. The cornbread was also yummy and crumbly. I personally like my cornbread a bit more moist, but the flavor was really nice, and the hot honey helped give it some of that moisture!

“My wife and I visited this spot yesterday to enjoy their Happy Hour. The place is small, but perfect. They have outside seating as well. We sat at the bar. We were immediately greeted warmly.

We ordered the Summer drink and the Peach one (Both found on the menu). We ordered the Original burger with fried egg and avocado. It was delicious. The burger was big, flavorful and everything was cooked how I needed it to be (We shared the burger and small fries. It was enough for 2). We ordered more drinks: Chocolate martini (Not on the menu, but ask for it...so delicious), we had tequila shots and my wife had a Mezcal drink prepared by the bartender (Not on the menu, but it was tasty).

The bartender was funny, accomodating and amazing. So amazing that I did not even know he was the owner!! Lol.. his name is Mike. He such a cool down to earth dude. Like very personable.

“Came in on Sunday afternoon for some drinks and bites. We got the Wagyu and Chicken sliders. Wagyu sliders were 10/10, it was tender and had so much flavor. We thought that the chicken sliders were good, the chicken was fried well and it was juicy, but we thought it lacked a little flavor. Maybe more seasoning on the chicken or make the aioli a bit more flavorful.

Our drinks are Now You Nosso, Smashski, and Melas Beles (in order clockwise from lychee drink). They were all super refreshing and delicious.
