Good food, good view, restaurant somewhat plain in decorations
Topside on Catalina Island was one of the highlights of our trip! After exploring Avalon, we stopped in for lunch and couldn’t have picked a better spot.
The fish tacos were incredibly fresh and packed with flavor, perfectly cooked and topped with just the right balance of ingredients. The Philly cheesesteak was equally impressive, loaded with tender steak, gooey melted cheese, and served on a perfectly toasted roll. Every bite was outstanding.

Fresh off the boat from Newport Beach, we discovered that getting breakfast in Avalon is apparently a competitive sport. Every place had a crowd, a wait, or both. Then we stumbled upon Topside via a hangry Google Maps search.
Tucked just off the main path, there was no wait for our party of eight. I still don’t understand it. Either everyone missed the sign, or they all stopped climbing after seeing they had to take a handful of stairs. Their loss.
