“My husband selected Fat Cats for lunch on vacation because he used to be a regular 30+ years ago. I can't rave enough about our experience! We actually got there between the lunch and dinner rushes and were met by extremely friendly crew! The diner was pleasantly decorated and the seating was comfortable. However nothing prepared me for my meal. I ordered the ahi burger. It was perfectly seasoned, cooked, and accompanied. Definitely will stop by every visit to this part of Cali!!!“

They are dog friendly and even have a menu just for dogs. Our Maltipoos shared the “Marley and Meat” and loved their meals. We all agreed that Rick’s was our favorite meal of this vacation, and we will be back next time in Avila Beach.“

“Overall it was fine. Not the best Mediterranean I’ve had, chicken shawarma is my favorite food so I’ve had a lot! Perhaps just a different kind of flavor than I typically like. My husband had the gyro meat and it was good. The plates were $$$ for a carryout gas station restaurant, running $20-$25 per meal, but large portion sizes with leftovers. The salad was over dressed. Hummus was great. Small side of rice for $5 was huge and loved by my 3 year old. Not sure I would come back but it worked for our family tonight. Definitely call and order ahead, waiting in the liquor store was less than ideal with two small kids.“

“Yes, you will need a reservation, but they were kind enough to reserve a special table for us to honor our 10th anniversary! We were greeted with smiles and staff was quick to offer either still or sparkling water [nice]. Our water pourer, Maddie, was ahead of our thirst all evening and our glasses never were empty [we went through three bottles!]. Our server, Haley, was attentive and professional. She very capably poured the Justin Isosceles and went over the menu to answer any questions. My tuna tataki was exceptional...it may be an appetizer, but it was incredibly tasty and filling. The lady thoroughly enjoyed her local sablefish [first time] and its yummy accompaniments. The wine list is strong and reasonably priced. Beautiful views of Pismo Beach enhance the dining experience. The restaurant is on point, clean top notch restrooms and obvious elegance. We couldn't believe there wasn't any dress code...folks showed up looking like they just walked off the beach without a wink. Ahh...the beach life in Pismo is quite relaxing.“

“We were immediately greeted and seated (we made reservations online in advance)... our waitress greeted us within a short period of time and took our cocktail order... I'm happy they offer my favorite wine, Austin Hope Cabernet by the glass... I've only known Ember to offer it!... My son ordered a Ni Rada? Martini that tasted how I imagine a household cleaner to taste, he reluctantly sucked it down... we didn't bother to complain but we wouldn't recommend it... he later ordered a Paper Plane Martini which he liked better... After reading other reviews, I see we didn't get the initial bread w/Ricotta offering, probably for the best since we've cut down on gluten and wanted to try a pasta dish... We started with a (not pictured) POLPETTE (large meatball) and it was moist, flavorful, & yummy... alongside PAPPARDELLE RAGU, I was hesitant about it due to not being a fan of lamb... however, it was cooked perfectly without any hint of the game flavor I dislike... my only complaint is there isn't a gluten-free pasta substitute option... It may not be Michelin standard... but it would be great to have some gluten-free Ancient Harvest pasta with any of those yummy ragu/pasta sauces available for the many people with gluten sensitivities... MARY'S 1/2 CHICKEN was flavorful and yummy with the silky mashed potatoes... and the melt-in-your-mouth OSSO BUCCO and tasty polenta did not disappoint!... The atmosphere is cozy with home-style elegance... From the initial welcoming greeting, the friendly & timely food service, the "in-tune" staff that directs you to the restroom without having to ask, the constant spotting of Nate's friendly smile as he ensures his operations are running smooth and the thanks for your patronage as you leave... our experience was pleasantly memorable... This was my 2nd visit to Nate's... the first time I had the pork chop which was flavorful, tender and simply superb... We will return!“

“Loved this place. We are here from San Jose celebrating hubby’s birthday. Chose this on a whim.. turned out to be an awesome choice. Drinks, food and service was top notch. Tried a couple of cocktails..all yummy. The one with tequila and falurnum and coconut.. very nice. The lamb was one of the best we’ve had. And the Peruvian rice.. was out of the world. Thanks Mitsura for the cookies and making hubby’s birthday celebration special..loved the triple chocolate mousse. Will be back for sure

“this is my happy place! staff always go above and beyond to make our stays great. they are friendly and i love how every time you walk thru the lobby they greet you with good morning...welcome back ..etc. the restaurant is absolutely to die for. the rooms are amazing and the views breathtaking. we visit at least twice a year and always celebrate our anniversary here ! She was incredible. Corkage fee was extremely reasonable. Room was crowded with many people all enjoying the wonderful friendly atmosphere. Food was spot on. From bread service through to dessert. “Seated immediately, friendly and skilled waitstaff; she knew the menu and gave good input. Food was exactly as ordered and burgers were excellent. DH got the seasonal Oktoberfest and I got Marilyn. Sides were handmade onion rings with several sauces, all homemade. The housemate coleslaw was also excellent. We are excited to go back because the milkshake menu looks fantastic. The waiters was also sweet about giving advice on local happenings and things to do, it’s clear she enjoys her work! “We had the most tasty Peruvian food in downtown San Luis Obispo at Coya in their new location at 851 Higuera St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401. The chicken saltado one of the best I have ever had. The beef empanada large. The passion fruit drink, Maracuya, refreshing. All house made authentic Peruvian food. I hope you will visit Coya and enjoy the food as much as we did. The ambience beautifully decorated with traditional Peruvian products, clothing, hats, purses, dolls, cookies, coffee and lamas. Large dinning room and outdoor seating nice. “My husband bought us sandwiches yesterday and I have to say that was THE best sandwich I have had (that I didn't make).
I had the turkey and avocado club sandwich.
Wow be prepared for a huge, meaty sandwich!
The bread was homemade, toasted and very good! It was the size of sourdough bread! OMG!
Be prepared to eat a sandwich that doesn't skimp on the meat! Lots of fresh borehead meat with cheddar cheese melted onto the toast. I had purple onions, lettuce and tomato and could barely take a bite it was SO THICK! And don't forget the fresh avocado which was like a THICK spread!
It was really a great sandwich.
My son had tuna, lettuce and tomato on the same bread.
My husband had a 3 meat sandwich that was also huge!
I highly recommend the Dune Side Deli to anyone who wants eat a REAL sandwich.
Thankfully it is super close! And thank YOU Dune Side for opening this wonderful little sandwich shop in Oceano.
It is conveniently located right next to Central Market so there is plenty of off-street parking.
So refreshing to eat good fresh food that is healthy too!

“Kumi ko is a Japanese restaurant in San Luis Obispo across from the Damon Garcia sports field. I ordered the spicy ramen bowl and the broth had a slow-building heat with good flavor. We came for my brother’s birthday and the staff actually made it feel like a celebration. They brought a complimentary dessert with a sparkler candle and the whole place joined in to sing. The service moved quickly without feeling rushed, and everyone was attentive without hovering.
