“Came here for dinner. This is a Peruvian restaurant, and the menu does the classics: empanadas, anticuchos, lomo saltado, pollo a la brasa, the whole rotisserie chicken program.
The cocktails were good. We started with the empanadas, which had a lot of flavor packed into them, well seasoned, not just a pastry shell with filler. The pollo chicharrones (deep fried chicken nuggets, basically) were also solid, crispy exterior, juicy inside, properly seasoned rather than relying on dipping sauce to do the work.
For my main I got the lomo saltado. The beef was cubed and tender, and the brown sauce had real depth to it, savory without being one-note. Everything I ordered was well prepared, no notes, no surprises, just good execution across the board.
The vibe inside is laid back and a little goofy in a good way. The floor is covered in astroturf, there are decorative butterflies all over the walls (fitting, given the name), and they had the World Cup playing. It's not trying to be a serious dining room, and it doesn't need to be.
Good food, good drinks, fun room. Would come back.“

“I can’t recommend this place enough. Fresh, creative food, smartly sequenced, brilliant cocktails. Traditional enough to satisfy those who are familiar with Peru looking for nostalgic flavors while not being so by-the-book as to stifle creativity. Go!“

“Excellent Oakland restaurant. Very thoughtful dishes, all beautifully presented and delicious. The type of dishes where nothing is left on any plate. The open kitchen is an added bonus, it’s a pleasure to see the synchronicity of a restaurant producing excellent food, good ambiance and great attention to detail. We’ll be back!“

“El Rincón de Jorgito is a must in San Francisco if you’re craving authentic Peruvian food. From the moment you walk in, the service is warm and welcoming—like you’re being hosted by family.
And the food… wow. The ceviche is absolutely magical—fresh, bright, perfectly balanced, and packed with flavor. The lomo saltado is to die for: tender, savory, and cooked just right. And the causa is amazingly delicious—creamy, flavorful, and the kind of dish you keep talking about after you leave.
Simple, honest, unforgettable Peruvian food with great portions and genuinely kind service. Highly recommend! 🇵🇪🔥“

“We had two events here recently and it was a wonderful experience. The staff was great to work with, the owner and his wife were both there to make sure everything went smoothly. Their event manager was great to work with and it was a very streamlined process. The food was excellent, drinks were great, and the restaurant had fun decor. We received so many compliments on the venue and food from our attendees. We will definitely be going back for future events.“

“We are Peruvian and find most Peruvian places with too small portions and way too expensive (for not that great a taste to what my family can make at home). When I tell you every bite was absolutely delicious, heavenly, we couldn’t stop thinking about it for days! Can’t wait to go again! This will be our go-to spot for Peruvian. The chefs and owners were so sweet and friendly. It all feels like a home cooked meal. Nice outside eating too for warm days.“

“La Furia Chalaca is a lovely hidden gem on a somewhat run-down block near Jack London Square. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and creates a festive atmosphere, with salsa performances playing on the big-screen TV screen adding a real party vibe.
The welcome was warm and friendly, and small details like flavored water and complimentary French bread with butter are a nice touch.
The menu is extensive, though it would be helpful if the staff mentioned when certain dishes were unavailable. I initially ordered the papa relleno but was told afterward that they were out, and the suggested substitution of beef kebabs wasn’t what I had in mind and turned out to be pretty average.
But the ceviche pescado was delicious: fresh fish marinated in bright lime, served with yuca, sweet potato, and a spicy dipping sauce on the side. A great example of how refreshing and flavorful Peruvian ceviche can be.
Service timing was slightly unusual, though, as my main course arrived before the appetizer, but overall the experience was enjoyable.
This feels like a great spot for a festive meal, and I would definitely return.“

“Best kept secret of El Sobrante: El Chalan, Peruvian and Italian restaurant, offers a family atmosphere with great food at a good price. Warm bread and butter is served from the beginning. Their roast 1/2 chicken and whole fried trout, with home style french fries are very popular. Their sea food dishes, especially the seafood soups are delicious. The Italian food is also excellent. Butter nut squash raviolis, gnocchi, and spaghetti are cooked perfectly. Kids love this place.“

“I rarely post reviews but had to chime in as this was such an outstanding experience with Lima Peruvian! I catered an event in my home and the food arrived on time, piping hot, carefully marked for ingredients and allergens and was just so delicious. I received countless compliments and requests from guests to find out where the food came from. The order included a mix of meat, meatless and vegan offerings that really hit the spot. In particular, the Loma Saltado, Aji de Gallina (Creamy Yellow Chicken), Seco de Pollo (Green Herb Chicken), Vegan Split Pea Amarillo and rice were outstanding. Thank you Lima Peruvian!“
