“Mom and Pop eatery. They will treat you like family. Tiny place very little room but they have seating outside. Great Peruvian selection. Awesome burger Who Knew? The food is made to order so order in advance for pickup. Food made from scratch patience is key. 20 to 30 minute wait just for food. Just like home cooked meals. We are planning on going back for sure.“

“La Furia Chalaca is a lovely hidden gem on a somewhat run-down block near Jack London Square. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and creates a festive atmosphere, with salsa performances playing on the big-screen TV screen adding a real party vibe.
The welcome was warm and friendly, and small details like flavored water and complimentary French bread with butter are a nice touch.
The menu is extensive, though it would be helpful if the staff mentioned when certain dishes were unavailable. I initially ordered the papa relleno but was told afterward that they were out, and the suggested substitution of beef kebabs wasn’t what I had in mind and turned out to be pretty average.
But the ceviche pescado was delicious: fresh fish marinated in bright lime, served with yuca, sweet potato, and a spicy dipping sauce on the side. A great example of how refreshing and flavorful Peruvian ceviche can be.
Service timing was slightly unusual, though, as my main course arrived before the appetizer, but overall the experience was enjoyable.
This feels like a great spot for a festive meal, and I would definitely return.“

“El Rincón de Jorgito is a must in San Francisco if you’re craving authentic Peruvian food. From the moment you walk in, the service is warm and welcoming—like you’re being hosted by family.
And the food… wow. The ceviche is absolutely magical—fresh, bright, perfectly balanced, and packed with flavor. The lomo saltado is to die for: tender, savory, and cooked just right. And the causa is amazingly delicious—creamy, flavorful, and the kind of dish you keep talking about after you leave.
Simple, honest, unforgettable Peruvian food with great portions and genuinely kind service. Highly recommend! 🇵🇪🔥“

“Absolutely amazing service food and ambience. My husband and I have been here multiple times and fall more in love with the staff, food and beautiful culture that Mariposas adds to SF! We travel from Hayward just to be here! They have become more like family to us.“

“Criss was our amazing waiter! Friendly and fast service. The ambience was welcoming and buzzing on a Saturday evening. We’ve tried different Peruvian restaurants and have also been to Peru a few times so this place was a gem to find. The Lomo Saltado was the perfect nostalgic dish. I know where you revisit. Thank you!“

“Came here for a work luncheon. The ambiance is really nice. Very decorative. The service was great. I ordered the lobster enchiladas. It was good but a little bland.
When they brought out the food, they brought 1 of 5 entrees. After about 10 mins, they brought 3 more entrees. Unfortunately, I was the last one who had to wait for their food and I’m the slowest eater. I think it’s better to bring everyone’s dishes at the same time. I understand that they could be short staffed and they wanted the food to get out to the customer hot and fresh.
The prices are pretty too expensive for me. Every item was about $30+. It’s definitely not a place I’d just grab lunch for work. I think this place is best for a work luncheon or date.“

“I rarely post reviews but had to chime in as this was such an outstanding experience with Lima Peruvian! I catered an event in my home and the food arrived on time, piping hot, carefully marked for ingredients and allergens and was just so delicious. I received countless compliments and requests from guests to find out where the food came from. The order included a mix of meat, meatless and vegan offerings that really hit the spot. In particular, the Loma Saltado, Aji de Gallina (Creamy Yellow Chicken), Seco de Pollo (Green Herb Chicken), Vegan Split Pea Amarillo and rice were outstanding. Thank you Lima Peruvian!“

“I can’t recommend this place enough. Fresh, creative food, smartly sequenced, brilliant cocktails. Traditional enough to satisfy those who are familiar with Peru looking for nostalgic flavors while not being so by-the-book as to stifle creativity. Go!“
