The food was yummy and the store was run by the sweetest ladies ever! I got the chicken sandwich and it slapped... Even though I was running into credit card difficulties, they were understanding and made me feel so at home with their warm attitude. The chicken sandwich was more of a clump of fried chicken rather than one whole piece, but all of the pieces were crunchy and it was so good! Pinky and Red's is undoubtedly one of my favorite spots in Berkeley. The food and the environment is unmatched as far as I'm concerned compared to other soul food spots (AND it's halal !). I always get the Fried Chicken sandwich with either a side of fries (which are beautifully seasoned) or Mac n cheese balls. Both are equally delicious, it just depends on my mood for the day. I really enjoyed the sandwich with the fried egg. Really nice thick, buttery bread--plus bacon, so it hit like only comfort food can. Even though Pinky and Red's has been closed for a while due to the pandemic, I still find myself thinking of that sandwich from time to time.
