“My husband and I had the absolute pleasure to dine at Juniper and Ivy for our 33 year anniversary. Not only did they have special menus for us, but we had a complete and very special experience start to finish.The staff were so welcoming and knowledgeable. We had what I would consider the best seats in the restaurant. We sat up at the kitchen bar, and were treated to an amazing dinner and “show “ The kitchen crew were so impressive and friendly to each other and us. We had such a great experience, that we canceled reservations at another restaurant on the same block for later in the week, so we could come back and try more. Same amazing experience at the next visit. Highly recommend, when we come back to SD we will prioritize another visit. Thank you so much for such a great experience!“

“Came in solo around 6:30pm and was able to grab a seat at the bar. They have a rotational menu based on locally sourced ingredient availability. Ordered the daily oysters (which were fantastic) and the grilled sea bass.

The service here is probably some of the most friendly/best I’ve experienced before. My sea bass was undercooked & the bartender went to check with the chef. She confirmed that was the case and asked to make sure I’d like them to remake it. While waiting, the hostess also came over to apologize and checked in to see if I needed anything else. The new fish came back much better, however I felt like the sauce was a little too salty and acidic to my taste (both times). Based on my experience I feel like they are the type of business to make things right if you are not satisfied

Looking at other reviews I think this would be a great place for drinks & apps.

“I attended an event at Meraki last night and absolutely loved the space! It’s beautifully clean, open, and so versatile—you can really make it your own. The food was delicious A++ (my favorite was the Fettuccine Alfredo) and the service was truly top notch. Such a great experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!“

“Honest to goodness good food with a different slant on the menu - savory crepes are all excellent (tried the mushroom spinach and cheese and ham/cheese) as were the sandwiches. Larger lunch items include pasta. Their onion soup deserves special mention - this is my “go to” item to see how good the kitchen is, and this one passed with flying colors - a rich broth seasoned with thyme, not too much salt, plenty of onions, and a good chunk of bread with a great non-plasticky cheese. Only been for lunch twice and not in the evening yet but give this place a try.“

“Absolutely fantastic experience at Osteria Cotto e Mangiato! The service from Andrea (owner) was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Every dish we ordered was incredible-from the rich, comforting Carbonara w/anchovies to the Captain's Treasure chest is unexplainable good, everything was cooked to perfection. You can really taste the quality and care in each bite. This place is a gem in San Diego for anyone craving authentic Italian cuisine. Oh, by the way, did I mention the Tiramisu... WOW!! “Incredible place! The food is absolutely exceptional! It's a shame they only work 4 days a week, because I would absolutely go there every morning! They're a non-profit, which is also really nice to see. We got the crepes and a breakfast sandwich, both of which were amazing! And you have to get the strawberry lemonade as well!“

I Had a small birthday gathering in the patio & it was perfectly set-up & the arrangement of the seating allowed me to see & talk with the guest celebrating with me. We fit 35 comfortably. “Food was amazing!!! However, service kind of sucked because it seemed that the staff was short handed. I went on a Teusday. They took my order and they said there was a miscommunication between the waiting and the kitchen. Waited a long time for my food but I was patient because the staff was running around. The wait was worth it because the food was delicious.“

“A ramen that was simple, not overly rich, and the perfect portion size. The prices are reasonable for the quality and the hole in the wall style helps elevate this restaurant. The service was amazing and quick. I will return once again to try some more“

“Immediately fell in love with this quaint and chicly decorated speakeasy lounge. The staff was incredibly personable and helpful. The vibe was relaxed and unassuming. When I made the reservation, it was noted that there is a 1.5 hour limit on the table. Thankfully, Botanica isn’t incredibly stringent about this rule as it gave us more time to eat, drink and be merry. My friend and I split the bill and I paid $87.49 with tip included.

Here’s what we had:
Blistered shishito peppers - mild spice but flavorful

New York strip yakitori - ordered two of these because they were that good! The steak was tender and the sauce rendered an umami flavor

Botanika roll - tasted fine, but it ate one note. You can taste the citrusy parts but not much else.

Mochi dessert - you can only get dessert if you order the pre fixe chef menu, but since our waitress didn’t know this, she put the order in and gave it to us! We were incredibly grateful because it was the perfect end to a good meal

For cocktails we ordered Spirited Away, Dragon of the West, Kyoko Sakura & Heads will Roll. All of the cocktails were beautifully presented and quite tasty.“

“My first visit to Monkey Bar was a great experience. We ordered the chicken wings, crispy Brussels sprouts, and pretzels, enjoyed a few drinks, and relaxed around the fire pit. The atmosphere was inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy good food with great company. There was also a DJ.“

“I went as a solo traveler and sat at the bar. The staff was so sweet and friendly. They cleared extra space for me so I could order food (it is a pretty small bar area and I get the feeling food is not often served there) the house wine and eggplant parm were so good and again the staff were so mind and warm. “Glad I came in! The wait at An’s was so long I decided to grab a quick bite beforehand. Nomade was right next door and it was the perfect spot. They serve tapas and some main entrees and even a smash burger and fries if the Spanish cuisine isn’t what you are craving.

Service was excellent and atmosphere was pretty cool. They feature a ton of records on shelves with simple and a slick design.

The food and drinks were delicious! My smash burger was juicy and just the right amount of condiments!
