“Not sure what to make of some of the low rated reviews here, but for being in a mall, it is solid sushi for the hand rolls.I’ll admit that I was a bit hesitant to try it at first due to some of the negative reviews regarding the fish not being fresh. Well, in my experience, the fish was very fresh when I dined here. No odd taste or smell which is good.Definitely would recommend the spicy tuna handroll here as it’s got a bit of a unique flavor compared to other sushi restaurants(might I add that it’s better than many places). Unagi handroll, salmon, yellowtail were solid and delicious. The plastic is not that hard to remove from the handrolls as there are directions listed on it.Overall, stick to the handrolls(I mean, that’s their specialty) and I think you’ll be fine. I’d dine here again if I was in the area. Not as bad as the others make it out to be(YMMV).“

“Little Izaka-ya is my go-to neighborhood sushi spot, and it never disappoints! The servers always remember me, which adds such a nice, welcoming touch to every visit. It feels like a place I can count on for a great time and delicious food every single time. The sushi rolls are consistently fresh and full of flavor, but my personal favorite is the white fish roll—YUM! It’s always a treat. I also love how easy it is to make a reservation, making dining here super convenient. Whether it’s for a casual night out or a special dinner, Little Izaka-ya always delivers. Highly recommend!“

“Came here for lunch and the food did not disappoint. I ordered the lunch combo with a California roll and sashimi and everything was delicious. The place was busy and we waited a little bit to be served but nothing to complain about. Everyone was so sweet and friendly, I will be back!“

“Great quality salmon, sushi's tasty, however the tiger steak is NOT worth $45, maybe $15 (and that's being generous because it comes with rice and a small side salad) but definitely not $45 friggin bucks, save your money for the sushi because the sushi's delicious“

“Great place, very consistent with the quality of fish. Please go check out Jesus with his recommendations of substituting certain fishes in certain rolls. This place craps on the Katsu-Ya off topanga. Came here for my birthday and I left like a happy man. Shoutout Jesus!!! Only complaint is the parking in the plaza but what can you do 🤭“

“The best omakase experience we’ve ever had so far! We were so impressed by the creativity of each dish. Every sushi was so well seasoned and each of them had such unique flavor and texture. The chef Shin introduced each type of fish to us with stories and pictures, making the whole experience even more special.
Thank you Sushi Miyagi for such a great meal and for hosting us with such great hospitality and friendliness. We will definitely come back!“

“Everything was great. Great quality sushi, great service. If you want to splurge get the 30 dollar royal rainbow roll (or something, I forgot what it's called).
The worst part about this place is how close it is to me. I'm already thinking about going again - I'm gonna be poor in a month. Worth it. Seriously.“

“The food is AMAZING. I do feel a bit cheated out of the overall experience. The joint is inside the supermarket and they don’t have a seating area. Something the previous reviews neglected to mention. For a $100+ order and two have to take it to go, it’s definitely not what I expected. We did a picnic nearby to adjust. The food is a culinary trip. I highly recommend them. It is by far one of the best sushi joints in the San Fernando Valley.“

“Masa-san serves chef's choice, and the food is fresh and delicious. Eating here is an extremely delightful experience. The sweet shrimp with eggs is one of my favorites. Always finish your meal with at least 1 (maybe 2 or ...) of his blue crab rolls. The crab is carefully hand-pulled, the rice is warm, and the seaweed is crisp. You won't find that combination of quality and easy dining experience anywhere else in the Valley. Please try it!“

“Hidden gem doesn't even begin to describe To Die For Sushi. Nestled in a humble space in Northridge, this place is so unassuming you might walk right past it--but don't. Because once you walk in and sit at the bar, you'll realize you've discovered one of the best sushi experiences in all of Los Angeles.
Chef Danny is a true artist. We had front-row seats to his craft and were mesmerized watching him turn simple ingredients into edible masterpieces. Every slice, every plate--pure precision and passion.
We shared a bento box with mixed tempura, mixed sushi, and sashimi, and were blown away by the variety and balance. The Heart Attack (fried jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese and topped with spicy tuna) was absolute fire--bold, indulgent, and perfectly crispy.
The Toro and salmon were melt-in-your-mouth perfection--fresh, buttery, and honestly some of the best I've had anywhere in L.A.
Our server, Samantha, was fantastic--warm, attentive, and clearly knew the menu well. She made great recommendations and timed everything perfectly.
This place is a sushi lover's dream, without the pretense or the inflated prices of trendy spots. The prices are really affordable and the quality top notch. I have paid a lot more for so much less elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and sit at the bar--watch the magic happen, savor every bite, and thank me later.

“I ate here yesterday (06/13/2025>11:35am) and really enjoyed the food—it was delicious! However, I was a bit disappointed with the service. The waitress seemed upset and not in the mood to engage. I understand that everyone has bad days, and we never really know what someone might be going through. Still, as a customer, it's always nice to be greeted with a smile—even a small or polite one makes a big difference. A warm welcome really helps set the tone for a good dining experience.
Hikari Sushi is highly recommended!
The food was delicious, and I truly enjoyed my meal.
Just a little thought—it's so important to welcome customers with a warm, beautiful smile. A friendly atmosphere makes a big difference and leaves a lasting impression.
May God bless this business with continued success and joy!

“This spot is amazing and I have never had a bad experience here. Servers are all nice and attentive and the sushi is top tier. They do not stuff you with rice and add a tiny piece of protein on top like other spots do. You really get great rice to protein ratios here.
All the rolls and shareables are phenomenal. It gets busy and there is a wait to be seated, but it's worth it, and to me that is a great sign. Busy is good for restaurants.
Sometimes the servers do get overwhelmed and forget a roll you ordered, but as soon as you bring it to their attention it's a very quick fix.
Highly recommend eating here!“

“If you’re looking for the best sushi in Calabasas, Yumi is an absolute must! I recently visited and was blown away by the quality of the sushi and the flavor of their drinks, especially the lychee martini, which was delicious and refreshing. The ambience is modern and chic, making it a perfect spot for a stylish lunch or a fancy dinner date. The decor is beautiful, the service is great, and the overall experience was top-notch. Highly recommend Yumi for anyone searching for a great sushi restaurant in Calabasas! The Salmon Karpachio is a must.“

“If you enjoy Sushi as an art and experience, this is the spot for you. Miho has the freshest, most tender fish I’ve ever eaten. The red snapper carpaccio is packed with a little perfect punch of flavor. The maguro tataki roll brings it all together with amazing texture and flavor. This is the best sushi spot in LA, for those who are looking to enjoy fish instead of posting their meal on their instagram story. The atmosphere is intimate and vibrant and you’ll leave with a smile on your face:) (much much much better as a dine-in experience than delivery.) it’s worth the visit and it’s worth your money.“

“Reason for visiting: cousin's birthday dinner
Date/time of visit: Saturday night, 7:30 PM
Parking: they offer valet (not sure how much it is) but you can park on the street (along Rubio) or Ventura for free (meters are off on the weekends)
Party size: 5
Environment/ambience: pretty loud inside (sometimes couldn't hear ourselves talking); mixed crowd but mostly younger (teens and 20 somethings). Didn't see any TVs inside; restroom was pretty clean. Seating was tight; it was a table for 4 but we squeezed a chair. They were busy all night so probably best to make reservations.
Service: was great; very friendly and offered suggestions. Came around often. Offered them one of the desserts we brought, they took off a couple items from the bill ?
Food: everything was great; had the Blue Fin and Salmon Belly handroll, spider roll, Katsuya Sake, beer, mixed sashimi, Lobster dynamite, scallop cut roll
Cost: $390 with tip
Would I go back (yes/no): 93/7“

“These new owners have made a beautiful sushi bar/restaurant/menu. I have been to this restaurant 4 times now for lunch. Their service has made me feel valued and special each time... Friendly and timely. The ambiance is beautiful and it feels very clean when you walk in. The sushi is SO FRESH, even mid-week, and the special cut rolls are very artistic and delicious. I very much love the no rice rolls selection, and the Chef accommodated me by making a no rice spider roll that wasn't on the menu... Mmmm, Mmmm! I'm bringing friends upon my next visit (Sat. Aug. 2, 2025).“

“Yes, excellent in so many ways. Go for the Sushi, the atmosphere, and the wait staff. While this cute and quaint Sushi Bar gets very busy, you will know why when you sit down. “This place has a nice, chill atmosphere and the people who work there are friendly. The sushi is by no means the best, but to compensate, they have all you can eat and you’ll pay in the $80s (assuming you don’t get anything extra) for 2 people.
I think the most appropriate rating would be 3.75/5; where 3 is too low and 4 is being a bit generous. If they upped the quality just a bit, this place would be top tier in its class for all you can eat sushi spots.“

“Food was great. Sushi can be received quickly as it's made right in front of you. Other dishes take some time. When I went, it took a while to have someone take my non sushi order. One of the men making sushi helped me by notifying a waitress who took my order from across the room but not directly from me. I needed to modify my order due to an allergy so I had to wait and ask someone else. Little frustrating but it turned out okay.
Dietary restrictions: Food may be modified but you have to be patient.“

“We visited this sushi restaurant yesterday with our family to celebrate the end of the school year for our kids — and it couldn’t have been a better choice! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the service was attentive and friendly, and the sushi… absolutely delicious! 🍣 Every roll was fresh and beautifully presented.
It’s the kind of place where you feel taken care of from the moment you walk in. Perfect for family celebrations or just a relaxing night out. Highly recommend — we’ll definitely be coming back!“

“What a mind-boggling experience. My friend told me this was the best sushi anywhere.
When I walked in, I thought we couldn't be in the right place. Really small, seats maybe 10 people at the most.
But the sushi suits not disappoint. Truly the best sushi I've ever had. You don't need any soy sauce or anything more than how each tasting is done and set in front of you. Trust the experience the chef prepares for you.
Yes as the other reviews mention, I hope you are not trying to budget the meal because it's expensive.
I presume that the sushi is a good or better than the best in Japan, so it's worth it.
Can't wait to share this place with my daughter's.“
