“We just came in to have a beer and kill some time, but this place ended up being an awesome little detour. We had their sweet potato fries a pint of the Temescal Hazy and an Imperial Brown Sugar Cider. The fries were amazing nice and crispy but nice a potato-ey in the middle. Salty and sweet and perfectly paired with their aiolie sauce.“

I tried the clam chowder and oysters Rockefeller, and both were absolutely phenomenal. The clam chowder, in particular, was the best I’ve ever had—rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned.

“Great central Carmel location amongst galleries, bakeries, coffee shops, bookstores etc. In good weather ask for the patio they take reservations by inside vs outside. Great atmosphere out there… old building, stucco, vines, etc. It was cool but they have plenty of heaters. Great food… had bruschetta appetizer which is loaded with diced tomatoes and smoked flavor (grilled bread). Also the di stefano salad, it has crispy goat cheese, roasted beets and fig-balsamic dressing. Excellent, highly recommended! Had the cioppino which was excellent. Good wine list. Eat here lunch OR dinner.“

“Angel was an amazing server. Food was very good. I had the rigatoni and my daughter had the hanger steak- said it was one of her favorite meals on our trip! Everyone is helpful and friendly at this restaurant. If you don't want to venture out while staying at the Carmel Mission Inn... Shearwater is a GREAT option! 👍👍“

“As a local, I hesitate to give a review because once one discovers such a gem as the Wednesday night prix fixe menu, one selfishly doesn't want it to become too swamped with tourists! Truly an "haute cuisiine" experience, available right here without needing to travel to France (or Macedonia).!“

“Crab carbonara!!! Outstanding! Same with wedge salad! Lobster and prawns gnocchi was superb! Yes the Key Lime pie is the best!! They make an excellent dry martini too! Sandra's our server was terrific!!! And very welcoming to our dog!!“
