“Food is casual and good. Margherita flatbread was a bit too salty but it was good overall. House salad was delicious and fresh! Fries are delicious, very flavorful. My dad said the beer is amazing too. Service is 11/10!!!!! Very fast and accommodating. I recommend this place as a nice casual joint.“

“We came in on a saturday afternoon and were able to find a table right away! The Bar side of the restaurant has happy hour every day from 4-6pm and their small plates and pizzas were on the food list! Their cocktails were all 8 dollars and house wines 7 dollars. We ate and each had a drink for under 40 dollars which seems absurd in Carmel! Not only affordable but the food was to die for! We had the Truffle Gnocchi which was easily the best gnocchi I've ever had and the White Truffle Pie was so fresh and full of mushrooms and onions! Dipping the crust in the leftover gnocchi sauce put it over the edge! Isabel was our server and she was kind and quick with everything! It was a wonderful little stop in Carmel, just off Ocean Ave!“

“This is one of the better restaurants we ate at during our stay in the Carmel area. Let's start with the service which was excellent. Outdoor patio seating faces the pond with its fountain and distant hills. Of the items we tried (we ended up returning several times) the Tuna & Satsuma Mandarin and the Petite Filet were standouts. My husband claims they make the best hamburger on the coast!“

“This was our first time to the Shearwater Tavern - we were so wonderfully surprised - everything was truly amazing, the service, the ambience, the staff were truly some of the most customer oriented folks we have ever encountered - The food was outstanding !!!! “We came here because two in our party must not eat gluten. One has quite a number of food allergies. This restaurant was impressive. They have a separate gluten free menu and a separate gluten free frier. They also have a separate vegetarian (full) menu. The waitress spent quite some time explaining food prep and how they can make adjustments to the menu for various allergies. In fact, she was soo good (an older lady) that even though the tip was included (due to our large party size) we tipped her above and beyond that amount. The food was also excellent! All of us were happy - regardless of the type of food we ordered - regular, gluten free or vegetarian. We would definetely come here again. Note: The only downside is, like in all of Carmel, parking is hard to find. So if you make reservations - be sure to show up at least a half hour early to spend time looking for parking.“
