“Lepe Cellars is one of the gems of Carmel. I enjoyed their crisp and delicious chardonnay and their light yet rich pinot noir so much during my first visit there that I became a wine member over a year ago. Tira is a joy to sit and chat with every time. Miguel Lepe's story is also inspiring and one I can relate to.“

“This adorable shop in Carmel by the Sea, had room for our party of 8, a friendly hostess and a lot of history of Silvestri, known for music in many many well known films. Locals stopped in to pickup wine for dinner. They have a reasonable wine club and waived fees if you bought some. Oh, and their Pinot is really good!“

“My mom & I visited just the other day for a quick 3 day weekend in Monterey & Carmel-by-the-sea & just casually walked right on into the Shale Canyon Wine tasting room
& couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing & informative tasting experience! We unfortunately didn’t get the name of the extremely kind woman behind the counter but she more than made our experience memorable & magical and we hope to be back in the future to try more wines!“

“This is a beautiful & charming winery nestled in carmel-by-the-sea. We landed on the really delicious Rose which has won the best Rose in Monterey county for the past 13 years. Sarah was our pourer who was super fun to be with, we shared many stories and just is a great person to get to know and hang out with. They also have a bathtub in the wine room that you can have a photo in which is very unique. The outside fire pit table is perfect for the sometimes chili days in caramel when the fog is around or in the winter time. Especially love the breadsticks and nuts that she gave us along with our wine. The Pinot noir that we tried was excellent and was very smooth, complex with a variety of tasting notes, little bit fruit forward and a very drinkable everyday wine.“

“Hit or miss depending on your server! We’ve been members off and on for the past 4 years now. There’s been almost a 100% rate of staff turnover.
Daniel, the sommelier is incredibly personable. He gives us great service every time, we visit about once or twice a week, even if he’s not our designated server.
Other notable staff are Nick and Pedro. Both are super friendly and genuinely enjoy interacting with customers. We’ve also met Bernie who’s super nice as well.
We’ve had two less than ideal visits. One server I can’t remember and Amir. I wouldn’t go so far as to say he’s not great at his job, but we had to rope in two other servers to cover his lack of attention to our table. He also didn’t seem to know the wines very well and was reading off of the print out.“

“I had such a special experience at Comanche. As a solo traveller I sat at the counter with both Jeff and Lindsay and learnt so much more about wine. They are extremely knowledgable and friendly, and really made my evening in Monterey. You must visit if you are in the area. Thank you guys, really special experience.“

“Great little tasting room located in Cannery Row. Staff were very pleasant and knowledgeable about the wines and meads being served. We did a mead tasting, which were all really good. Favorites were the mulled mead and the raspberry. Definitely worth checking out if your sightseeing or passing through.“
