“Today I visited the Smoke Door Sanryo for lunch with my friend Isao Yoshikawa, the father of the new chef Kosuke Yoshikawa. All I can say is this was a truly wonderful experience with each course in the set lunch menu delivering uniquely superb taste that was delicately balanced with sauces that were extremely delicious. This is fine dining that shouldn’t be missed if you’re in the Kings Beach area of Lake Tahoe.”

“Tapas style restaurant, so we tried several items - Bacon Wrapped Medjool Dates (favorite at the table!); Arugula Salad (mint was a delicious touch!); Lobster Sliders (lots of lobster!); Grilled Wild Alaskan Halibut Tacos (just scrumptious!).

This was actually a referral restaurant for us, and we were so happy to enjoy dinner there! Great food and drinks (Old Fashion and the Chocolate Martini)!

“We celebrated our engagement at this amazing spot, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. The hosts were super friendly, congratulating us and even treating us to a glass of rosé, which was a lovely touch.

The food was absolutely delicious. The scallops were perfectly cooked, and the wagyu beef was melt-in-your-mouth good. And the princess cake? A perfect sweet ending to an already fantastic meal.

The view of Lake Tahoe was the cherry on top, making the whole evening even more special.

“Phenomenal. Brussel sprouts, fries, and the biscuits to start. Chicken thighs main: toughest decision I’ve made in a while but it was the right one. Top 5 dish I’ve ever had in my entire life, zero exaggeration. The chicken melts like butter and is complemented perfectly with the crunchy/savory potatoes below. If you’re looking for flavor, dine here. Thank you kindly.”

“I think this is my new favorite place for chicken. I hadn't been there before so I asked the clerk for his reccomendation. He suggested an 8 piece wing with K Sauce. That was perfect. The wings are large and the sauce is spicy and flavorful. They even give you gloves so you csn eat without getting sauce all over your fingers..”

“This cozy and chill taproom is a wonderful place to try new craft beers and hang out. The staff are super-friendly and the atmosphere is perfect for Truckee. We had a beer sampler and every one was unique and interesting. Didn't have any food this visit, but they have a nice menu of snacks and light bites. Outdoor seating makes this awesome in nice weather. Definitely will return and try the food.”
