“The coffee is always fresh. They roast their own coffee beans. I like the fact they have light, medium and dark roast. Dark is my go to. It has less caffeine. They are also dairy free. I tried Oat milk in my coffee, now I buy Oatmilk for my coffee at home.“

We faced a minor setback when it took longer than anticipated to receive our drinks. With two orders ahead of us, we found ourselves waiting about 20 minutes. Despite the wait, we would definitely return. The coffee was simply perfect, though next time, we'll be sure to allow ourselves some extra time.“

“I hear some British tourists talking to the hotel manager "this is the best taco place in LA."As the proud owner of a gut selectively fed with the best things in life, I ask what might that place be. Turns out, it's Tees cafe.I google the place. It doesnt even have tacos on its online menu. I ask the guy, are you sure this is the place. He says yes. They make great birria tacos.I decide to have a combined lunch and breakfast there the next day.God finds my plan too boring and I lose my credit cards the next day. I only find about it while trying to pay for my food, which thankfully I have to do before eating.I cancel my order with a light stomach and q heavy heart and join my friend sitting outside. We are both very respectful of individualism so I dont ask for help and he gracefully doesn't offer any as he silently inhales three tacos.A moment later I feel a tap on my shoulder. It's an almost comically stereotypical overweight Mexican daddy smiling with two tacos on a plate. They are free and they are for me.In retrospect, this was the only way for this mom and dad cafe to surpass my sky.high expectations. With delicious authentic tacos and hospitality I have no problem calling this the best taco place in downtown LA.Just don't make it too famous.“

“Had a coffee hangout with my friend whose daily coffee spot is Cognoscenti. I wasn’t having high expectations to be honest. So I ordered for a cappuccino and boy, I was pleasantly surprised. 💯 recommended. Heard their coffee too is really good. So if you are in the neighborhood, stop by!“

My personal favorite is the mocha..which I have to say is excellent most of the time. Most of the time, because I don't feel like different baristas are trained to make it one specific way. Which is what I want in coffee.. consistency.
Luckily, most of the time it's really good.

“This should be your go-to spot for coffee beans if you care about quality and freshness! They have a broad range of origins and roasts to satisfy nearly anyone. I’m particularly fond of My Old Friend for perfect balance in a cappuccino or other espresso drinks. The roasts are consistent every time. You can see why they do so much wholesale with some of the best restaurants in town. Parking is a little challenging, but doable… or take the metro E line, it’s a very short walk from the LaBrea stop.“

“I ordered the cinnamon oat latte, and I'm usually not a fan of oatmilk but it was balanced so well against the espresso and the cinnamon that it didn't dominate the flavor. It was a very smooth drink, not too sweet, not too bitter, and not too strong.

My wife got the strawberry matcha latte, and while the matcha was of a decent grade and quality, the strawberry isn't a puree, nor is it like a strawberry creme or milk added in, it's an additive in powder form and she doesn't tend to like that.

Their chocolate croissant, which we shared, was heated up as requested, it came with a line of melted chocolate drizzle on top, which I think was similar to Nutella but less thick in terms of consistency. It was also topped with powder sugar, and it had an inserted line of darker chocolate, maybe 65%, so pretty balanced against the sweetness of everything else involved.

The area the cafe is located in is nice, it's a large promenade with several nicer restaurants (it's also sort of attached to it's restaurant counterpart) and there's plenty to walk around and get some shopping done or walk off the drinks and baked sweets. Plenty of parking as well, and the mall itself is only a block or two north from the cafe.“

“I had the matcha cream brûlée with a snoopy design on top. Super cute! Matcha was alright, tasted fine. Wasn’t a big fan of the honey (I think?) on the bottom though. Kinda overpowering, wish it was maybe mixed into the drink or something.. will come back to try other drinks tho.“
