“Love how I can go for a walk before/after the coffee since it’s attached to the walkway. There are plenty of sitting area outdoor.

My personal downsides are that (1) their indoor tables/chairs are so short so I cannot properly get any work done. (2) they dont have a charging station. They have one plug by the entrance but that doesnt work. So inconvenient.“

“Great place to do some work. There's a lot of indoor and outdoor space with really nice atmosphere. My oat milk latte was good. The BLAT (bacon lettuce avocado tomato) sandwich for lunch was also good. Service was friendly and quick! Some other notes: bathroom was clean. Charging outlets only outside, none inside. Heavily visited by business people and office workers so I kinda felt out of place wearing casual clothing lol“

Aqaurela's beans provide a different experience. We are by no means coffee experts, but my wife and I were surprised by the nuances in smell and taste when we tried their Deus Me Livre for our morning espresso. It's a lighter feel; almost refreshing. The morning cup feels a bit indulgent, yet not so rich as to make your mouth feel overwhelmed. We could see this pairing very well as an after-dinner treat with any manner of desserts. The best part is that this is simply a fantastic company to work with. Quick, fast delivery. Prompt follow-up to make sure we were completely satisfied. And all questions answered - when we noted that we typically prefer darker roasts, one of the owners explained that their goal was to make a medium-roast whose flavors would still hold up to a coordination with cream and sugar. It's a throwback to days where customer service and the personal touch were still important. I’m particularly fond of My Old Friend for perfect balance in a cappuccino or other espresso drinks. The roasts are consistent every time. You can see why they do so much wholesale with some of the best restaurants in town. Parking is a little challenging, but doable… or take the metro E line, it’s a very short walk from the LaBrea stop.“

“Stopped by Stereoscope for a cortado and had a really enjoyable experience. One thing that immediately stood out was the barista’s knowledge. She was genuinely engaged in talking about coffee, understood the beans she was serving, and was able to answer questions without hesitation. That’s becoming harder to find these days, and it definitely added to the overall experience.

The cortado itself was well executed. The temperature was right where it should be, allowing the flavors to come through immediately without having to wait for the drink to cool down. I was able to clearly taste the notes in the coffee, and the balance between the espresso and milk was excellent. The body held together nicely throughout the drink and never felt thin or watered down.

My only critique would be that the crema and microfoam leaned a little more matte and foamy than glossy. It wasn’t enough to take away from the drink, but a slightly silkier, shinier texture would have elevated it even further. That said, this was an Ethiopian natural, which can be a bit trickier to dial in and pair with milk while still preserving the character of the coffee, so it’s a fairly minor criticism.

Overall, a very good cortado from a shop that clearly cares about coffee. Good execution, proper temperature, clear flavor separation, and knowledgeable staff always make for a better coffee experience.“
