“A lifetime of eating Mexican food, living in Mexico and speaking Spanish fluently couldn't have prepared me for the culinary whirlwind that I experienced last night at Damian. Accompanying friends who have been long time patrons of Damian served as personal tour guides through the labyrinth of menu selections that culminated in one of the most memorable meals I have ever had as a native Angelino. What makes Damian so remarkable is the layers of flavors that appear in every dish and the surprising combinations of ingredients that while seemingly so disparate, create a fusion of flavors that one wouldn't think possible in one cuisine. The service is impeccable and the environment relaxing, intimate and simply world class.“

“This past weekend, I had the chance to visit Mirate without a reservation. Given it was Coachella weekend, I imagine it's usually tough to get a table here without a wait. Right from the moment we walked in and were directed to the bar area, I felt like something special was about to unfold. The environment was both open and lush, creating a sense of bliss similar to the feeling of being on vacation. The drinks menu was impressive, and I thoroughly enjoyed the La Soñadora, a clarified milk punch, out of the two I tried. We ordered five dishes, and four really stood out. I would definitely order the pork belly tacos, kampachi aguachile, jalapeño cornbread, and the baby gems again. We were too full to try the churros, although we wanted to. Our server was wonderful and played a big part in making our afternoon at Mirate a 5-star experience.“

“Came solely for the Al Pastor tacos and they were chef's kiss! CASH ONLY. Located in the parking lot by the gas station. A few parking spots available. No restrooms available (even in the gast station) You order your tacos at a smaller stand and then stand in another line to the food truck window to get your salsas and toppings (which are all pre-packaged) A couple of standing tables next to the taco truck for eating as well. The al pastor was juice yet tender, I always love the sweet pineapple component and then the avocado salsa was very good. The green salsa had a good kick and the red salsa had a slight smokiness to it. I dress my taco up with all the fixings so I liked the raw onions and pickles onions they offer too. Will be back!“

“The ambience is great! Very nice and homey spot. The staff was very kind too. We ordered a bit of everything.Pros:Prices are very good for all the dishes. Nothing was over 15 dollars on the menu. The shrimp wontons and pan fried pork buns were the best items with the most flavor. The beef roll was huge in size. Great for people that enjoy cucumber and thicker slices of the meat. The bean curd salad had a nice bite and flavor to it. They also have sparkling water on tap!Cons:Parking is bad. Getting street parking is like winning the lottery. The other option is to pay for parking which can range between 10-30 dollars. The dan dan noodles and sha gua mian did not meet our expectations. The noodles seemed a bit overcooked and a sauce/acid could have given the dish more of a balance in flavor. Our table marker was taken off the table a little early and that's when we saw on the receipt that a missing item was added incorrectly. Our server fixed it promptly so that was great.“

“I am so happy to have found a real, authentic Korean soul food place near home. If you like a bit of sweet, umami, soy-sauce, chilli flake flavor, you MUST try here. Thank me later.Last year my husband and I tried the galbi-jjim and was pleasantly surprised with how much passion and soul was put into that single dish. Almost exactly the way that my grandmother would make it. They use only the freshest ingredients, and absolutely no "old" taste. Galbi-jjim was sweet, salty, and nice subtle kick to it.Today we tried the eundaegu, which is fish. Ohh my goodness. Just like last year, the ingredients are SO fresh! The fish, which normally in restaraunts are a bit old, a bit chewy, some even foul smelling, but here, the fish was cooked to perfection. So soft, no fishy smell, and you can slither(?) the fish meat right off the bone. It was amazing. Then once you get to the cooked radish? Wow. I asked for a to-go box to take home little of what was left of the radish because I wanted to eat it again when I get home.Must try.The owners and the chef are extremely sweet and caring. It's hard to find restaraunts with passion, but this is one of them. The way the owner was laughing and helping the kitchen crew, you can tell the workplace was healthy and nice. Will probably go back again in a few weeks :)“

“Went on a Sunday for brunch and there was a hefty wait around ~1-1.5hrs, which was completely expected for the area. We were fine with waiting as there's a lot of neat shops to explore and farmersmarket in the area. We ordered the breakfast burrito, spicy chicken sandwich, ceviche, and pepperoni pizza. The ceviche comes with homemade huge taro root chips - which was a nice touch! Everything was delicious but the chicken sandwich was really wet - to the point of needing to eat with a fork and knife. I personally would not order it again as it felt a bit too soupy for me but overall everything was tasty. Service was great and friendly. We sat outside as we had our husky with us - the place was very dog friendly outside.“

“I'm laughing at people who think this place is overrated, cause it's not. Their tastebuds must be dead. Either that or they're so used to the taste of sh*t bagels. I'll admit, I refuse to wait in line when it's super long, which it always gets on weekends, and around brunch time. But when we come first thing when they open (we live nearby), hell yes will we indulge in a couple Simply Delicious bagels: salmon, cream cheese, capers, olive oil, pepper and lemon on a "burnt" everything bagel. I've never had a bagel so good. I didn't want to like Courage but I did. I actually ended up loving them. One thing to note, my husband fainted in line on a hot day waiting for our order there. Luckily I caught him! When the owner caught wind of what happened, he came outside to help us to our car and told us to relax while he personally brought out our order. When he came back, he brought my husband a complimentary orange juice. We were really convicted by his kindness. “As a Chicago transplant, I can’t say I miss sports bars. But I do miss the local neighborhood ones! Despite its almost punk rock aesthetic coupled with its pool table and arcade games, it’s incredibly welcoming and I only wish I lived closer to it to be one of its regulars there. You get people from all walks of life; which is sign of a great bar really.Simple and easy drinks with a solid happy hour what more could you want? Well how about some decent snacks? The food menu here is more than decent and so inexpensive; I come here just to have a Chicago dog more than I want a drink! I also love the they have two very popular tiki drinks as well! There’s plenty of room around; from chilling at the bar area, sitting in the spacious dining room, or standing at the high tops in the game room. (Won’t spoil the surprise, but there’s a very fun arcade game that everyone wants to win, that I’m sure so many have already seen). And if you love sports and miss our favorite home teams, I can’t think of anywhere else I’d want to watch them. “Azai is a great new spot for hand rolls and sushi! They give you a lot of fish in the hand rolls and there's a really good variety of items on the menu. The yellowtail and tuna nigiri were delicious and my favorite was the yellowtail jalapeño yuzu sashimi special. Save room for the mochi ice cream for dessert!“

The sandwich is pretty pricey to come without any pickles.Black sesame dessert was also good but it would have been so much better if it was warm or fresh. Very hard to cut through.“

“"Sippin from your cup 'til it runneth over..." I heard JT performed at the Wiltern last night for free so I had his music on repeat in my head all day today during work. So of course I had to stop by here as soon as I saw the store name. I did NOT expect to find the best donuts I've ever had in my life. Period. I walked in and was greeted warmly and decided to just order the Original Sin and their version of classic milk. They were so nice and gave me another donut for free which was the Obrama. Everything was so scrumptious. I loved that the donuts weren't too big. The quality of the donut is so good that it only needs to be a smaller size to have the same effect as something larger. The outer texture and the crispness reminded me of the blueberry m&m donuts that they sell in OC where people line up for hours to buy. The donuts here taste better because the inside texture is a lot lighter and isn't as dense so you don't feel disgustingly full afterwards with regrets. I cannot wait to come back and get some for my family and friends. I wanted to test it out myself first prior to sharing with others. Yum! Also their classic milk was soooooo good and complimented the donuts so perfectly.“

“The place is gorgeous, especially if you love a nice terrace. The food... Is it because it's the only middle Eastern gluten free place, or is it because the ingredients are fresh, or is it because the preparation is perfect, or maybe it's all the small details... I think it's all of the above, one of the best middle Eastern places in LA, and the best gluten free one :) enjoy their manahish!“

“This place was awesome. First of all, Lena our waitress was so kind and willing to explain the menu to us as this was our first time. The food was delicious, I recommend getting a combo so you can try many different things. Not only was the food good but the experience was amazing as well. Lena cooked the meats on front of us (she cooked them perfectly) and you could add seasonings and sauces. Additionally, the sides are brought by ROBOTS. My little sister loved this and couldn't stop giggling every time a robot came by and dropped of some kimchi which was free with the combo. 10/10 would recommend. We will definitely be coming back soon! Thank you Lena!“

“My daughter recommended this place so we gave it a try. There was only a handful of people there… it was a Tuesday. We sat in the outdoor area. We ordered two different veggie pizzas and bread sticks (kinda pricey). There wasn’t much to choose from on the menu. The food was more like an appetizer size serving but It was delicious. I have nothing negative to say about the taste of the food or the atmosphere. However, the parking was insane. We parked directly at the curb next to the entrance of the outdoor eating area. It’s metered parking. We had to add coins every 15 minutes… it only allowed 15 minutes before it capped out ?. I’ve read others say it was an hour meter, well it wasn’t the day we visited. I set a timer on my phone (a ticket would have ruined my day).It was a nice restaurant. I experienced it once but I’m sure I won’t come again.“

They recently changed their license and unfortunately we didn’t find out until our friend came with her 18 yr. old daughter and we sat down and she had water and was carded and asked to leave. It is now 21 and over, so no more family meals here. It’s unfortunate, but true. Please Post a sign for those that have been coming for years and don’t check the website.“
