“This place just feels like a warm hug. The interior is filled with lush plants, mismatched vintage furniture, and a very welcoming atmosphere. I tried their signature lavender honey latte and it wasn't overly sweet, just right. The baristas are super friendly and remember the regulars. I usually come in for their Americanos and banana muffin, but they recently started serving lunch and dinner on weekends and their jerk chicken dinner blew me away. I discovered Jones in the early 2000’s during business trips to Pasadena. Through the years it became a must have visit, even during family trips. Leading the way is Rafael. He’s calm and welcoming and his presence is felt every where. In fact, during a 2021 visit he spotted my family and me, came over to greet us, and fondly recalled my children who he hadn’t seen in close to 8 years. “Excellent Americano and a very nice spacious place. Love the ambience of this coffee shop, and love that they have a Slayer espresso machine, too!

You can tell it's different Americano because of the more modern, foward-tasting notes that's more typical of Slayer. Slightly more woodsy, and layered than your heavier, rounded espresso drinks from a La Marzocco.

The ham and cheese croissant is light, crispy, and very delicious. It's a great case of less is more when you don't need a heavy sandwich but expect delicious clean flavor.

We are by no means coffee experts, but my wife and I were surprised by the nuances in smell and taste when we tried their Deus Me Livre for our morning espresso. It's a lighter feel; almost refreshing. The morning cup feels a bit indulgent, yet not so rich as to make your mouth feel overwhelmed. We could see this pairing very well as an after-dinner treat with any manner of desserts. The best part is that this is simply a fantastic company to work with. Quick, fast delivery. Prompt follow-up to make sure we were completely satisfied. And all questions answered - when we noted that we typically prefer darker roasts, one of the owners explained that their goal was to make a medium-roast whose flavors would still hold up to a coordination with cream and sugar. It's a throwback to days where customer service and the personal touch were still important. “Great vibe from the moment you walk in and there's vintage vinyl spinning. The barista (who in this case was the owner) is great, super friendly and knowledgeable. Absolutely delicious coffee and the best vegan chocolate chip cookie on this earth. Cute seating by the window in green velvet chairs. For being tucked away in a little unassuming shopping center, it's a real hidden gem worth seeking out.“

“We had such a great experience at Alfred’s! I had an iced strawberry matcha with non-dairy cold foam (not many places have it so I was stoked!!!) and a vanilla latte, plus a croissant and vegan muffin (also stoked!). Everything was delicious 😋 It was my boyfriend’s birthday so the lovely gal at the counter gave him his latte on the house. 10/10 experience!“

“Oh HEY! -have you ever been blessed by St Matthew of Silverlake?! His glowing attitude is no match for his glowing skin and yet, if you do do yourself the favor of walking past the cliches of hipsterville like (can’t complain about it really) La colombe, you’d actually find a gem of a spot with this gem of a man (whose glowing attributes really won’t stop competing). And it’s this cafe. Fast with employees who care and a bright chill atmosphere that’s just right to send out all those “apology for last night, I was drunk” texts or “shoot your shot” on hinge (even tho you refuse to pay for it) messages cause the caffeine has kicked in, it’s strong, yummy, well served, and the color scheme is adorable here.
I say you switch it up and go here. I know the song of summer is “espresso” but this place has changed my identity to “Macha Lemonade” and made my heart reliant upon seeing Matthews great haircut at least 3 times a week. GO! It’s the ideal and void of cliches! V cute for a meet up or a date (ahem, men on Hinge)“
