“We gave this place a 5 star rating when we came previously. Now, I doubt if we'll ever come back. We came in on 11/10 at around 2:15 and were told that there was a 45 minute wait. We left to head over to the Southern Girl Bakery. We came back about 50 minutes later and still had to wait to be seated. We werent seated until 3:24. Normally, the front of house worker will seat you and tell you that your server will be coming soon. That didn't happen for us. She pointed to a table to tell us where to sit. Our table still had food on it and I had to ask someone to come and wipe the table off. Every other table had drinking water on the table. Ours had none. We had to watch other people that were behind us coming in get served before us while we were forgotten about. No one came to tell us they were serving us for about 15 minutes. Someone walked by and saw me looking around to see who would help us when and said to me that she would help us in a second. 5 minutes later she finally came back with water. We never got her name. We finally got to order drinks and got a Sprite, 2 lemonades, an Orange Sherbert mimosa and Caramel Apple mimosa and then our food. This was about at 3:50. After some time, I looked over and saw what I was sure was my wifes 2 drinks sitting at the bar with people walking and talking around them. I had to get up and go to the front to find our server and remind her that we hadn't gotten our drinks. At 4:11 she then brought our Sprite and lemonades and then asked us if we had gotten the mimosas. She then brought us over the CA mimosa that had started to change colors and the OS mimosa that had ice cream in it that had completely melted and we had to ask for them to be remade. We then waited until 4:45 for our food and then we called it quits. Our daughter was hungry and wondering where the food was and actually started to cry when we said we were leaving because she really wanted to try the strawberry shortcake pancakes. As we were walking out, neither our waitress nor the front of house worker even acknowledged us. Waitress didn't even come and check on us during the wait or see if we needed refills. She stayed in the front area of the restaurant most of the time so I couldn't even see her to remind her that we were waiting. I definitely shouldnt have had to remind her that she never brought our drinks over. We live in Torrance and it's about a 20-30 min drive from our place to here. We wasted gas and time coming here. This was the worst service that I've ever received from a restaurant. Particularly upsetting that my daughter broke down about us leaving. They had a big party in their back room but we still shouldnt have been treated this way.“

I haven't had fried fish like this in years, and they give you 3 giant pieces! The greens were nice and savory, and the mac n cheese was fresh and tasty. I also enjoyed their strawberry lemonade which paired well with my meal.

“Absolutely the finest Soul Food. You don't want to skip this place. I had the lunch portion of the Oxtail and chose the Candied Yams and Mac and Cheese as sides. It came with 2 Cornbread Muffins. It was all delicious and filling. I ordered the Coconut Pineapple Cake for Dessert. It filled the container. See the picture. Totally Recommend this place.“

I was quite clear on what she said... However upon arriving at the Eatery to pick up my order... I was given a different price by the Owners Daughter... Her Attitude is extremely Smug and Nasty, I could care less if her father is the owner, I will not be spoken to or at as if I am a liar after having been A faithful Patron there! Her Huffing and Puffing as if she were some type of Dragon trying to put out a fire didn't bode well with me. When I went in I was being polite but after trying to explain the error in pricing and ordering she acted as if I were trying to get something for nothing, when I only wanted what was the original price quoted to me by phone and my order done properly. Then after almost 30 minutes she accused me of not paying for Yams! I thought she had rung them up so I brought them out to the car, she then asked... Did you pay for those? I said yes... Didn't you ring them up!? She no I didn't... But you can have them! I said... Certainly not! I took them right back inside and left them on the counter! If her attitude hadn't been so nasty I would have let it go... But she has very poor social skills! And you can't have Poor social skills when your in the Restaurant business should you choose to keep Loyal customers! Vidal, who is the owner I believe is a decent man , however when I called and left my phone number to speak with him 3 times... My call has yet to be returned, at the least... And I do mean least they could do is apologize!!! In any case.. I will take My $$$$ and all of my Church members and family, and Friends elsewhere to dine and tell them never to Darken the door of this Eaterie again until attitude adjustments are made ..if then! Folks... Go to where you are respected period! Stop settling for any old place no matter how good the food may or not be. I would rather have bad food and great customer service, than Good food and Horrible customer service! It's your choice!“

The chairs weren't very comfortable. However, the service was great! We were celebrating a birthday and had a large party. They were kind enough to refrigerate our cake.“

Outdoor dining only (no indoor options) and there’s delivery and takeout available. As other reviews and the sign on their window notes,you won’t get the food quickly since it’s slow food and that’s part of the whole experience. You scan a QR code to get the menu. I opted for a fried catfish and five shrimp plate which came with an option of two small sides. I got the red beans and rice as well as fries. The red beans and rice were hot and comforting; the fries are crinkle cut. The plate came with a side of tartar sauce and there are hot sauces and ketchup available at each table. They have a paper towel roll and hand sanitizer at each table as well. The fish isn’t as seasoned as I would’ve expected but the shrimp was super fresh and tasty. I had leftovers and they still kept relatively well the next day.“

I like that you can choose between drumsticks, thighs, or wings. Mix and match what you want. Their prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend you give them a try.
