“My favorite place to get Chinese food. I’ve tried a lot of spots in Richmond and this place is by far my favorite. The food is freshly made and you can taste the quality of their ingredients. My go to is beef and broccoli with fried rice. I’m from the East Coast and Chinese food out there tastes way different than over here (and better in my opinion). Frannie’s is the closest I’ve gotten to back home <3 So good. My partner loves their Mongolian beef. The staff is friendly and it’s not a long wait. I HIGHLY recommend you try them out!“

We tried #18 (Loco Moco) and #1 (Hawaiian BBQ Mix).

Gravy (way) too salty. I'd ask for half as much.
My partner got an extra side, since the BBQ Mix was a dry rub.

“First tine being here. It was worth the drive from Santa Rosa. I ordered the Pork Dumplings and Spicy Chicken Plate. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the spice was perfect. Will definitely come back again to try the other items they have. Perfect time to be here is during sunset. You will get the best view of the bay. The vibes of the establishment is super chill.“

“My favorite place to get poké in the city! If you get a large, the portion is a great value for the money.

Tip:
I always opt for the salmon (the other fish aren’t as good) and ask for light sauce (otherwise they tend to drench it in way too much sauce.)“

The poke itself? So ono. Fresh, flavorful, and totally legit. You’ll find classic Hawaiian-style fish alongside “mainland” toppings — because, as the owner said, “you gotta give the city what it wants.” But don’t worry, purists — the foundation is all Hawaii.

“Got the chicken katsu dish. Katsu is very crisp, use thigh meat, sauce is good, habanero sauce is killer, some pieces of katsu mostly breading with how thin the meat got but a large portion and so I do not feel skimped on meat overall. Steamed cabbage and broccoli provided give a nice break to the grease. Mac is on par with l&l. Would eat here again“

“I got some protein or less carb version of a plate if I remember correctly.. anyhow I didn't expect my dinner to be completely devoid of any carbs. This led to a quite salty dinner which unfortunately not as enjoyable as it could have been. Otherwise pretty solid as far as Hawaiian BBQ goes.“

“Ono Hawaiian BBQ in Oakland.

I used to come here all the time when they first opened in 2017.

Their portions are big enough to feed 2 people, and I always grab the sauces to go.

Their Hawaiian BBQ Chicken plate is just as delicious as I remembered. I used to always get the Chicken Katsu as well.

“Amazing spot! The menu was very clear about dietary restrictions, and the fact that it’s an entirely gluten free establishment made me feel very safe in ordering. Portions for the bowls were fantastic (yay leftovers for lunch the next day!), and shout out to the many dressing/sauce options available. Finding gluten free teriyaki sauce AND vegan ranch to dip their delicious cauliflower wings? A major win!
Only caveat to note is the cookie dough potion is quite small for the price, but I do love to support Sweet Loren’s when I can.
Overall, so happy to have found this spot, and will definitely be ordering from here when I’m visiting Oakland again!

“Consistently delicious poke! Not fancy, but always fresh and really fairly priced. I love getting the build-your-own poke bowl, plenty of sauce and flavor without being overwhelming. The spam musubis are all great too (I’ve tried the classic, fried, and spicy). It’s family-owned and operated, which makes me even happier to support them.
