Most restaurants like this (breakfast joints) tend to order from premade (from food service like Sysco or shamrock, you see their trucks everywhere) distribution. Hot and Tot makes everything in-house. From their daily soups to their house salsa, it’s all done in-house with love and passion. It’s an institution that’s been around since early 60’s. It’s got nostalgia of past (with decor and comfort food) but they keep it clean and tidy. If you are lucky enough to come few times, u realize it’s really a “regular’s” place. Most customers are true regulars and it’s easy to see why. They are super busy on weekends, but kitchen works surprisingly fast. Spinach omelette is delicious as do pancakes and waffles. And it’s easy to see why some people make point of coming on Fridays for clam chowder 😋

“Ordered soup for pickup. I got the vegetable soup and it was absolutely delicious. Wonderful broth and completely full of vegetables. It was ready very quickly. Plenty of parking.

Okay just need to update. I've had the soup several times and each time it is served with delicious rye bread which I cannot have as I'm gluten-free. I mentioned that this time on my online order. “This is my breakfast spot of choice. I go for the huevos rancheros and the country potatoes. The salsa reminds me of home and what a simple, traditional huevos rancheros should be. They have a simple and standard breakfast menu. My kids get breakfast scrambles and steak and eggs. The coffee stays hot and the cup stays full. Always good service and always feel welcomed. Its far from high end but they do it right.“

“I just ate here for my birthday on Saturday. I have been to Belize and this food took me right back there. The owner Leslie, is from Belize and is very friendly and attentive, as his the staff. Phenomenal food, and large portions. Get the sampler platter for your appetizer, you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend this restaurant. If you are ever in Gardena, you should stop here. Gardena Cinema is a few blocks away, and is also fantastic. The restaurant closes at 7pm, and most shows start at 7:30, so it makes for the perfect evening.“
