“To celebrate our 27th anniversary, we went to @oldskoolcafe. The greeters, cooks and servers are all young people. Mama T opened this place to help at risk youth learn work and life skills (like how to get a license, do taxes, set a bank account). Partnering with experienced chefs, this restaurant has excellent food… and live jazz!!! We ordered the Taumoepeau Ota (think ceviche) and it was a great appetizer… light and the fish was super fresh. We had the short ribs which were super tender and had a rich gravy. We didn’t think we had room for dessert, but the lavender cheesecake and the Guittard chocolate brownie were fabulous! If you are in the city: GO! SUPPORT! ENJOY DELICIOUS FOOD!“

“I regularly go to their pop up booth at the Saturday farmers market behind SF Ferry Building. They are in the back plaza area near Gate C Golden Gate Ferry Terminal. Delicious, hearty breakfast sandwich with runny egg yolk if you desire that. Great customer service too.“

“Was walking with a deep hunger. Stumbled into Smoke Soul Kitchen and was so beyond happy about this decision. I got the red beans and collards and mmm mmm! The greens we so good I drank the left over pot liqueur. The beans made me feel like I was in New Orleans in the best way. So much flavor,wonderful service 10/10“

“The fried chicken is crispy outside and juicy tender inside. The various chicken combos are good deals. There is a wait for orders because the food is not precooked and sitting under heat lamps. Parking can be difficult and the small parking lot fills up quickly. I will definitely be returning!“

Best fried fish I’ve ever eaten, and everything on the tasting menu was excellent: the corn bread, salad, boiled peanuts, shishito peppers, hushpuppies and beans and rice. “The food is good and the service is great. Ms. Nella is always welcoming, kind and accomadating whenever I pick up my food; that never wavers. My only complaint is, this establishment has inconsistent hours. I always call in my order but there has been two incidents where I’ve called in, didn’t get an answer and just drove over as I figured they were busy. Lo and behold, they were closed despite the hours of operation posted on line. I wasted my time twice going down there. Now I know that if no one picks up the phone, they’re closed.“

They went up on the prices unusually get oxtails but for $38 they can keep them because they don’t even be all that lol and the fish actually good but they prices are to high so I won’t be coming back I’m leave this spot to the younger crowd who came from social media lol $38 km going to the grocery store

“We ordered fried chicken, mac and cheese, greens, and yams for our work Black History Month event, and everything was absolutely delicious! The food arrived hot, fresh, and perfectly prepared.
It added such a special touch to our celebration and gave attendees a wonderful taste of soul food that truly complemented the spirit of the event. Guests were going back for seconds and thirds — which says it all! 😊
Rome himself delivered the food right on time and provided excellent customer service. He was professional, friendly, and made the entire experience seamless.
