The food is just as incredible as I remember — always fresh, flavorful, and made with so much care. But what really sets Chicken Plus apart is the heart behind it. Syd, the owner, is truly one of a kind. Every time I walk through the doors, I look forward to seeing him. He greets everyone like family and makes you feel genuinely welcome. It’s rare to find a place where the food and the people are equally amazing, but Chicken Plus nails it every time.

“I came in one morning they were very busy full area plenty of customers I walked in through the front door the staff greeted me immediately asked me if I would be dining and I said no just needed to order a breakfast sandwich for my fiance the wait was not long the food was fresh I would recommend coming here for breakfast“

“iI you are looking for a fun atmosphere with yummy food and drinks, this is your place. This was our impromtu date night and we will be back. We had riesling, beer, spicy chicken wings, garlic noodles, and the yummiest over baked and glazed brussels sprouts. To top it off, we ordered the bread pudding cream brulee and I must say the flavors of the vanilla ice cream, bread pudding, chocolate, and creme brulee all melts in your mouth. get ready for a party 🥳 in your mouth. Highly recommended.“

“We visited Karl Strauss in Rancho Bernardo with a large group for a team outing. It’s definitely a good spot for accommodating big, lively groups — the space has a rustic, casual feel that works well for a boisterous gathering.

The food was decent overall, though the vegetarian options were quite limited, which made choices a bit challenging for some in our group. The beer selection was a highlight — people really enjoyed the variety and different flavor profiles available.

One downside was that the heating seemed limited, which made it a bit uncomfortable during our visit.

Overall, it’s a solid place for large, energetic group outings, especially if you’re going for the beer and social vibe. However, it may not be the best choice if you’re looking for a quiet, cozy dinner conversation.“

“Shortly after being seated, water and warm nuts were brought to our table (don't skip the nuts). We started our meal by splitting a wedge salad. Thank goodness we split it — too much for one person. My wife got the burger and our server (and the kitchen) handled the special requests perfectly. The burger was excellent. I debated between the prime rib and the NY Steak — went with the NY on the recommendation of our server, and it was an excellent choice. Cooked to perfection. We ordered the apple cobbler to go, and it was fantastic! From start to finish, it was a great experience! More frequent visits are in the cards.“

“What a great restaurant at the Bernardo Winery. It's the perfect place to meet up with friends for lunch before walking around the cute winery and do some shopping in the boutiques on site.

There are lots of outdoor tables to choose from and most are shaded. It opens at 11am and it was busy soon after. We went on a weekday too.
You can get wines from the tasting room or delicious coffee from Manzanita next door.

You order from the counter and your food will be delivered to your table. Everything we had was delicious though the pizza was a little on the burnt side from the wood fired oven.

Parking: There are two small parking lots and plenty of street parking.“

“One of our special date night places when in the San Diego area. Outdoor seating is great and food is wonderful. Rancho Santa Fe in the evening is quiet and you can just have a nice conversation over dinner.“
