“What a lovely surprise to receive European style service in an Escondido restaurant. Our waiter, Fernando kept surprising me over and over again with his thoughtfulness. The food was over excellent - I gave it only a four star rating because the shell fish, particularly the mussels and clams in my cioppino were all undersized. However, the flavoring was superb!

I highly recommend this jewel of fine dining sequestered away in Escondido.“

“Absolutely obsessed with the eggs Benedict—perfectly poached and drowning in deliciousness. The stuffed French toast? Basically dessert disguised as breakfast and I have zero regrets. Laid-back vibe, friendly staff, and the kind of food that makes you want to write poetry. Parking’s a bit tricky, but worth every loop around the lot. Go hungry, leave happy.“

“Skip the chain and give this hometown mom and pop cafe a try!! The flavors and portions were great! The homestyle potatoes were fresh and the pancakes fluffy!

Only critique would be ti clean the booth windows bc they were very dirty and smudged with finger prints.

But overall a great family diner with fresh food and polite service.“

“iI you are looking for a fun atmosphere with yummy food and drinks, this is your place. This was our impromtu date night and we will be back. We had riesling, beer, spicy chicken wings, garlic noodles, and the yummiest over baked and glazed brussels sprouts. To top it off, we ordered the bread pudding cream brulee and I must say the flavors of the vanilla ice cream, bread pudding, chocolate, and creme brulee all melts in your mouth. get ready for a party 🥳 in your mouth. Highly recommended.“

“One of our special date night places when in the San Diego area. Outdoor seating is great and food is wonderful. Rancho Santa Fe in the evening is quiet and you can just have a nice conversation over dinner.“

“First time here for lunch. My companion and I were impressed the very fine service which started at the entry gate. Our hostess had a busy lunch crowd and tables full. Offered us patio but we preferred to wait for terrace. Within a few minutes we were moved from that 2 top in sunny spot to lovely terrace 4 top with comfortable chairs opposite that 2 top by our waiter. Guyardo provided helpful advice on items we were considering on the menu and he and staff continued to keep an eye on us to make sure we were enjoying our time there. Food was great. Had the fried rice and skirt steak salad as our dishes and enjoyed our time there very much. Recommend highly if you want a “level above” service with a casual vibe for lunch. Look forward to going again for dinner, drinks, lunch or brunch. They have it all covered. Did I mention dog and kid friendly? Everyone is welcome!“

“What a great restaurant at the Bernardo Winery. It's the perfect place to meet up with friends for lunch before walking around the cute winery and do some shopping in the boutiques on site.

There are lots of outdoor tables to choose from and most are shaded. It opens at 11am and it was busy soon after. We went on a weekday too.
You can get wines from the tasting room or delicious coffee from Manzanita next door.

You order from the counter and your food will be delivered to your table. Everything we had was delicious though the pizza was a little on the burnt side from the wood fired oven.

Parking: There are two small parking lots and plenty of street parking.“

“Compadres Chicken is an absolute gem! My coworker and I go there on our lunch break all the time, and we’re totally hooked on their chicken quesadillas. Hands down, the best chicken I’ve ever had—the flavor is incredible, and it’s always so juicy and tender.

The salsas pack a punch, too! Even the mild salsa brings some serious heat (my nose is always running!), but honestly, it’s so worth it. The spice just adds to the whole experience.
