Jazzmo Pete and I had spent the whole day out at Bill Halsey's Hangin Balls Ranch separating the Bulls from the Cows and Heffers into their winter pastures, and we were beat, cold and wet from the coastal fog. Jazzmo, an Italian at heart says let's go into town and have a big bowl of pasta and a couple bottles of Chianti, well that was enough for me, so off we went. ...Smelling like old west cowboys I was sure we'd get kicked out of any place we went into, but Jazzmo had a quart bottle of some sort of hipster stuff that'll take the smell off a litter box! And it worked! We went to La Gastronomia di Porchetta Restaurant and had about the best Italian food in the Bay Area!

“Stopped by to get sandwiches for a picnic so the sandwiches were a bit soggy but tasted absolutely fantastic. My friends got the vegan sandwiches and I got the Korean fried chicken. I also got the crispy roll and ate them right away and one of my friends got a tea with it milk and boba. Everyone agreed that the pickles were great and the amount of jalapeño was perfect”

A bonus is that when you tip them they profusely thank you, like much more than I would expect. I always tip but I do appreciate when it is acknowledged, and they always do!”

Great blends from Napa Valley , as good as any expensive vineyard , the owner blends and creates them for years, STRONG WINE, UNBELIEVABLE TASTE! The food is amazing, I’m a New Yorker and loved it ! The gluten free pasta was done to perfection! Wished I lived closer…we would be there every week! The ambiance and staff were inviting , and the owner is a vibe unto himself! “While visiting Marin County on a Thursday, local bartenders recommended Mac’s in Fairfax. They’re open pretty late and have both indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a stage where it looks like they have live music. We came later on closer to midnight and it looked like many locals go there to hang out for a drink. They have a full bar and many cocktail menus. There’s street parking and people can bring their dogs inside!”

My favorite ice cream place. Specifically this location. Must-try flavor: vanilla honey lavender! Real, local lavender flowers throughout. Delightful. Magic!
I got a “double” scoop in a bowl (allows 1-4 flavors) to split with a friend the other day. We tried lemon poppyseed, Moroccan mint tea, and vanilla honey lavender. Would not recommend the lemon poppyseed- tasted a bit artificial. Moroccan mint tea was ok but tasted much more like mint chocolate chip than tea and the flavor paled in comparison to my favorite: vanilla honey lavender, which was outstanding per usual.
Tiny shop with charming pictures of local community up on the walls. There’s minimal seating inside and outside so you may have to walk with your ice cream.”

“I recently moved to San Anselmo, and am so happy I “found” The Hummingbird in nearby Fairfax. It’s in a good location at 57 Broadway Blvd. with plenty of free parking across the street. I really like the New Orleans vibe at The Hummingbird. The menu includes several creole items alongside standard breakfast and lunch choices. The servers are friendly, helpful, and efficient. The food is fresh and delicious. I love their catfish po’ boy sandwich. The fried green tomato BLT is very good too. My third visit will happen next week — I’m thinking waffle & fried chicken this time . . . or maybe the fried shrimp po’ boy sandwich.”

“Our dog is on a special diet, rice being a main component. Through process of elimination, we discovered she loves Thai rice, tolerates some other Asian ones, and detests all others. Why fight her? We are trying a lot of Thai places to find her fav rice.

I got the fresh rolls. 5/5! So fresh and all veggies except for a very thin rice paper wrapper part way up. I’d order these every day.

My husband ordered the duck. 5/5. So flavorful, tenderly, not fatty at all. It came with a beautiful medley of fresh steamed veggies. Perfect. He’d order it again, soon.

Our dog gave the rice a 3/5. She still has her fav. But we will be back!”
