Back in December, my family was dining there when the owner came over and shared his story behind Riley’s, a tribute to a beloved Labrador who changed his life. He took the time to truly connect with us, and we left thinking, “Wow, this guy is different. He cares.” Fast forward seven months, and I reached out to him with a heartbreaking story about our extended family’s red fox lab, Wrigley, who we lost suddenly and tragically. I hoped he could do something small to honor Wrigley, but his response overwhelmed us. “We stopped into Zinfandel California Cuisine around 1:00 PM on a Wednesday, mid-summer. The place was quiet—likely because not many people are thinking about pasta in the early afternoon heat—but that made for a calm, relaxing atmosphere. We were in and out in about 30 minutes, so service was efficient without feeling rushed.

We were initially drawn in by a big sign outside advertising half-off appetizers and pizzas, but unfortunately, that deal is no longer offered. A bit of a letdown, so definitely double-check if you’re going in for promos.

We ordered:

Kid’s cheese pizza – $10

Fusilli pasta with pesto, broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower

Fresh house bread (we had to ask for more—it was that good)

“New Owners! Delicious Persian and Pakistani (alternate pages of menu). We had their paneer appetizer). It had big cubes of soft Pakistani cheese in a tomato based cream sauce with finely chopped ginger. Fabulous. We also enjoyed a grilled eggplant with a Persian yogurt cultured from sheep and goat milks. The butter chicken was exceptional: he grills his chicken, chops it, then adds the juicy chunks of meat into his delectable sauce. His ground beef kabob was juicy and tender. I enjoyed an inhouse, freshly made mango lassi. Wow! We have enough leftover to enjoy a shared lunch tomorrow.“
